  2. This. Venting is fine (I regularly do it and am about to do it right now)... My problem is that I just find it a bit irritating to see people complain that they didn't receive an instantaneous response from Flood, who made it really clear that he was busy getting orders out... And the people that send more than one email? Seriously? If he didn't get to your first email, trust that he's busy (at least for a reasonable amount of time given the situation- popular release, day job, etc.) and that he'll reply to your first email. All you're doing with your second email is wasting time (yours and the recipient's). When he gets to responding to emails, instead of addressing someone else's problem, he's wasting time with your second email. Oh, and if you're writing to say that yours arrived in perfect condition but it should have been packed better, you need to die. Kidding... Just found those comments a little laughable... But hell, what do I know? This whole discussion, including (maybe even especially) my "contritbution" is a little silly, but hell, kills some time in my work day! Anyway, what's everyone think of the release? I got mine a few days ago but haven't had time to listen to it... Planning to today. Maybe I'll plan a whole theme thing- call my parents and tell them they'll never understand me, have conversations with friends that don't involve work, smoke clove cigarettes and stay up past 10 on a week night. I'm so jealous of everyone on here in their teens... Except I ate ice cream and chips for dinner, so suck on that...

  4. Got my black copy yesterday and it's flawless. Maybe if you crybabies weren't such self-righteous, entitled pricks all the time, you wouldn't have received this karmic smackdown. If receiving a warped record is the worst thing to happen to you this month, then it's been a pretty good month. Perspective, motherfuckers. Just kidding. Sorta. Seriously though, my copy is perfect, as is everything else I've ordered from Asbestos.

  5. It will only damage them emotionally. Never let an LP touch a 45 - that's pervert shit. Really, if you are just taking pics then be careful and it is fine.

  6. Completely agree on the quoted post. People don't care. They see it as a personal attack on their purchase and who they are. Individuals get even more upset when they feel it's personal and get a response from the person who is "supposably" at fault that he's working on the issue and nothing has happen yet. There are a lot of factors that played into some of the damaged items. But to sit here and blame it all one person is ridiculous. Has anyone expressed their dissatisfaction with the USPS? Why are there no stories about what people are doing with the USPS? To me this isn't another RJ incident. To everyone else, it too, shouldn't be an RJ incident. The records Flood puts out arrived, he shipped, some got damaged, some didn't, he still isn't done shipping them, said he would be soon, and hasn't replied to emails for those with damaged items, well because he may have more to send out. As for Asbestos being like SRC, are you out of your mind?! When has Asbestos still had records up for sale, to which people on this board buy, only to have them beat around the bush why it hasn't been sent, never responding to emails, and then canceling your order because another distro won't sell it to them to fill there excessive orders? C'mon people. If your that quick to dismiss a record company for warped/damaged/sleeve damage (slight or major), bent corners (which people cry over on here and it HAPPENS A LOT) then more likely than not you will have no one to buy from in the near future. Shit happens. I'm sure Flood is working on taking care of the issues once the priority of sending the rest of the records out is finished. Why would he take on the task of emails, sending out records, updating inventory, and now issuing refunds/replacements all at once? This isn't Man vs. Food and he isn't trying to finish what's on his plate in specified time period. He's trying to make sure that everyone is taken care. If he's not, then you have every right to say fuck him and never buy from him again. No body has patience here. It will be taken care of if you just have patience. Flood is Asbestos and Asbestos is Flood. One person runs the show so be patient. I'm not singling anyone out. I'm not trying to be a dick but this happens way to often on here. something happens and it's not taken care of immediately and people's world of record collecting becomes unbalanced, leading it to come crashing down instantaneously. I have been on the receiving end of damaged/warped items and amazingly/awesome items. I have always handled them the same by either complimenting them on a job well done or asking how we can correct the issue. Never have I had a record label/distro/band not follow through on fixing the issue. But I will say that the whole time I was working with the people trying to fix the problem I was patient. Jesus, I just ranted away. My apologizes.

  8. Haha. Yeah, I'm kinda wondering how people in their teens can even understand the nostalgia associate with this record. I was 13-14 when this came out and I got the CD about that time. So the people 18-20 now were 6-8 years old when this came out...

  9. nothing, my Mom feigns interest in Frank Turner because I'm in the inside cover art for Poetry of the Deed. They listen to the worst of the worst, Kid Rock/Creed/Pink for my mom....my Dad's taste is alright, mostly just classic rock. speaking of entire family singing along....I did front of house Security for the venue I work at and there was an entire family that came to St. Vincent and all four of them were really stoked on different songs, and seeing each of their faces light up when she'd play a song that was there favorite was freaking awesome

  10. To me, it's pretty much on par with all the others, except for Another Way, I don't care for that one. In my opinion, there's no such thing as a bad Teenage Bottlerocket album.

  16. Bah, you guys are a bunch of morons. End of story. My elitism in this thread will come from the fact that very few of the people on this forum can think rationally. You don't have to sell your first born to get a decent rig. You don't have to even spend $500 bucks. But you guys have to take it to such extremes. The guys on the Steve Hoffman forums don't listen to Brand New, you guys don't give a crap about the sound you subject yourselves to, maybe there should be a third forum that can reach this middle ground. Anyhow, I treasure the Hoffman forums. It's nice to be in the presence of people who care too much rather than too little. I tried to start a discussion on the quality of a product with people who actually could own it and give some insight on their experiences with it. But then I remembered that most of you collect color variants and frame your records, when you're not posting in a thread about shoplifting from urban outfitters. You guys have become a self-fulfilling joke. Peace out homies.

  17. Things I learned by reading this thread: Angels and Airwaves are still a band (I was not aware). Angels and Airwaves fans have trouble with math. Angels and Airwaves fans aren't entirely certain what a quarter is. Angels and Airwaves fans don't like the band enough to remain in the subscription club, they just want to flip limited records and get out.

  19. I work for the USPS in a medium sized city....all you people blaming the carriers...I can tell you where i work, 99 percent of the time, its not the carriers fault. Our truck arrives at 5AM and in that truck, there are huge containers/cages that all the packages come in. This is where this kind of problem with damaged stuff happens. The people at the processing plants are the ones that would be causing these damaged packages because they just throw a TON of shit in these huge containers and dont give a shit about if there are much heavier packages laying on top of smaller packages. In my office, if we get a damaged package(which does happen a lot) we just write on the package "received damaged" with the date so the customer knows we personally didnt do it. As far as packages sitting in the carriers truck all day, that happens every single day..the carriers HAVE to follow their route so if youre on the last part of the route, then your package is going to sit there all day but all our vehicles at my office have A/C so that shouldn't cause an issue. Sorry if that all doesnt make sense but i thought id give an insight in to how things actually work. (At least in my office).

  20. I think a lot of people overestimate the resources smaller labels have at their disposal. For the record, I'm not defending however the packages were shipped in this instance, because I just don't know. This is just a general observation what people aren't grasping here are that labels like mine, Asbestos, Dead Broke, Animal Style, Dirt Cult, Art of the Underground, Kiss of Death, Bitter Melody, all the small labels on VC that post all the time, etc... don't have the resources to absorb these costs....if we did we would be charging $20+ for records before shipping. Secondly, we need proof of damage, so at least email pictures to the label (probably the email you paypal'd money to) and wait a couple days. That label might be in the midst of mailing out an enormous amount of packages...or it could be 2 shipments...you never know. You have to learn to be patient. One of the ways to rectify these things is that you'll have to ship the record back to be verified...records sometimes have a bit of "play" in them, it doesn't automatically mean that it's a flawed copy. Don't immediately go on a messageboard and declare that you've been robbed or slighted. if the label fucked it up, they'll fix it. especially one like ours where you have an enormous amount of clarity throughout the entire process of pressing any record. You know why? because it's one person...there isn't an entire department of people delegating info to the social media director... Mailorder is and has never been a fail-safe way of delivering records...sometimes packages don't arrive and sometimes they get damaged in the shipping process and most of the time they arrive with no harm whatsoever...but a couple out of a thousand are gonna have problems.

  22. I don't think the warping has much to do with the heat, hence why the boxes look like theyve been run over.. My package also sat outside all day while i was at work in 92 degree heat with no warping, just sleeve damage that happened because of damage to the mailer and no protection for the LP. Of course USPS is mainly to blame when so many packages show up looking like they were carried across the desert on horseback. Hell maybe a cardboard insert might have helped, maybe it wouldn't have. My main point is I got charged five bucks for shipping and got a $1 packing job. If I ever sold and packed a record like this on here I would for sure end up in terrible traders/sellers thread, so I really dont see why some of the responsibility shouldnt fall on Flood. People do tend to get very butthurt however when anybody raises issues or concerns with a distro or label that they like, even though it's completely valid. (to reiterate my earlier post: I'm not requesting a refund or replacement, I still love asbestos releases and will continue to buy from them) I don't think he'd dodge it either, he knows they could have been packed better, which is why he is offering refunds/replacements. Good for him, problem solved. I'll still come on here and vent though, not only because I'm bored with the day off, but because that's what this freakin board is meant for.

  23. The album is 10 years old and has never been on vinyl before. I would guess a majority of people ordering ( myself included) won't be hearing this for the first time

  24. Not being a "flipper sympathizer" but if they still didn't screw you in a trade/sale, they shouldn't get negative or neutral feedback. What they decided to do with a record after the fact has nothing to do with the transaction in my opinion.

  34. It's not even about opinions on the record itself. It's more in regards to his comments akin to; "Oh, you have a Crosley? I'm sorry your parents adopted you." "Audio Technica LP 120? Ha. Take it back to the streets where you belong, peasant." "My setup is meticulously aligned to Baerwald, and I use a line contact stylus, so sibilance and inner groove distortion simply aren't words that apply to my setup." (Also relevant.)
