  1. i'm guessing that tim armstrong called pirates press with some sort of box set in mind, but since no one can understand what he says, they confused his original idea for an awesome 46 7" box set + baseball bat package.

  2. This will probably be the most embarrassing release of 2012. Get back to me when you have news about an LP boxset.

  4. The video of the explanation is awesome. Nothing like a former drug addict who would do shows high as a kite complaining about someone being drunk during a show. I also enjoy the two cardboard cutouts that stand next to him for 5 minutes before he allows them to speak. Im also confused by his telling of people to go back to highschool if they want to talk shit, when all of his songs are about reliving his glory days of high school.

  22. Depends on how it's utilized. Unless you're talking about someone like Flo Rida, who is a "rapper" in the same sense that Maroon 5 is a "band".

    N&B Podcast

Hopefully a couple of folks are into these - for Chicago folks, it's an interesting way to hear some off the beaten path creatives doing some rad stuff. After partnering with Chicago Mixtape, we've now also begun to partner up with Do312 who do a lot of events and ticket giveaways here in the city. Pretty exciting. Here are the last two week's worth of episodes: It's the Notes and Bolts Weekend Edition! And here in episode 038, we hang out with Robert Loerzel and talk about writing, the ins and outs of journalism, his book Alchemy of Bones and the perils of turn of the century, early 1900's Chicago (hint: staying off of the rail tracks was key. Also, don't breathe in the air!) Episode 038 with Robert Loerzel: http://notesandbolts.podomatic.com/entry/2012-09-28T23_00_00-07_00 October is now here, and welcoming in the sounds of the Fall, Melissa and Rebecca of Architecture drop in and talk about songwriting, the slow burn of the recording process and what's most likely going to happen when the world ends. Episode 039 with Architecture: http://www.chicagomixtape.com/calendar/interview/architecture-interview-2/ Mid-week creeps upon us again and here at Notes and Bolts HQ, we hang out with Lauren and Jade of Staring Problem and talk about post punk jams, band formation and what it's like to have cooler parents than most! Episode 040 with Staring Problem: http://www.chicagomixtape.com/calendar/interview/eyeballin-with-staring-problem/ SATURDAY! SATURDAY! So, hey, do you have an Instagram account? Do you like looking at pictures? If so, tune in and hear Mr. Daniel Fitzpatrick of the Chicago Community Darkroom, as he opines on all matters visual while a thundering metal soundtrack quakes beneath! Episode 041 with Daniel Fitzpatrick: http://notesandbolts.podomatic.com/entry/2012-10-06T09_30_46-07_00 It's episode 042, and we hang out with Zaid and Amelia from Shapers and talk about old school electronics, home studio recording and what it is to aspire to David Bowie (or not?) - check it! Episode 042 with Shapers: http://www.chicagomixtape.com/calendar/interview/shapers-and-their-oscillations/

  36. They couldnt even sell the deluxe box set of Let the Dominoes Fall for 30 bucks at RSD (my store is sitting on five still) and they think they are going to move this? If it was a "best of" they might have some success, but not the whole damn catalog. Hell, make it all the singles at least like the original Green Day set was.

    MAN ADVICE

I dislike it very much when I am texting back and forth with someone and the conversation just ends with no real exit to it. I am a hypocrite, though, since I do it to other people. Also, speaking of texting, Gizmodo just posted an article about a website that girls can use to send in texts guys send them and get feedback on what it means. Holy shit, reading some of the comments with advice from one girl to another is painful. Sometimes it is so incredibly off. The simplest words are misconstrued and over-analyzed, and end with comments like "DELETE HIS NUMBER GIRL HE'S NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!"
