  1. New rule in this thread. No more posting shitty Blink 182 records.

  2. I'd much rather have the same question asked over and over and be about the release the thread is about than a million wrestling and cat gifs that just end up getting the thread locked when there is an entire section of the board dedicated to that kind of thing.

  3. this is nick from bongripper. i am anti-kickstarter and long pre-orders in general, which usually act as a kickstarter. we did not intend for a pre-order of this length. the plan was to get the vinyl out by maryland deathfest, but the process moved slower than expected. we literally had the artwork completed the day before the stream went live, which we expected to be finished months ago. i already had the stream set up with noisey so people can hear the new track which we will be playing at MDF. it's half our set. we decided to start the pre-order when the stream went live because noisey/vice is a popular site. this way people will not forget about the record when it's physically available. we did not fund this pressing with your pre-order money.

    Upcoming Hot Topic Releases

Seems like part of the reason that whole debacle in the blink thread happened is because people just kept asking the same questions repeatedly and some people got fed up with it. Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions: 1)Has my record shipped yet? - Email Hot Topic if you're that concerned. 2)Where is my shipping notification? - See answer above. 3)Travis, what's the deal with (insert whatever)? - Check the first page of the Blink thread. He kept it pretty up to date. 4)Travis, did (Insert title) get bumped back? - See answer to question 3. 5)Travis, is (Insert title) getting re-pressed? - See answer to question 3. 6)Is this sold out? - Go to the Hot Topic website and try to put one in your cart. No, doesn't work? It's sold out online. It's not like you really have to dig too deep to find these things out. The first thing to do in a thread like that is to go back to the first (3ish) pages and read them. You'll probably find your answer there.

  8. Am I the only one who isn't impressed by Brand New collections? Let's be honest, give anyone a couple thousand and few weeks and you can have a full BN collection.

Like I said before, I've voiced my piece and I'm done in this thread. I wouldn't want to fill it up with off topic or pointless posts.

    Upcoming Hot Topic Releases

I think what she meant is... Let's not all ask the same questions repeatedly and whine about how "we can't find a reasonable price on this anywheeeeeeere." We get it. You're bummed you couldn't snag a copy. Don't fill up an actual useful thread with rubbish. That's what happened to the Blink thread, and that's why people slammed it so hard with stupid .gifs. If you want to complain about how lame it is that you didn't grab a copy of a somewhat limited release: make a thread about it. At least then people who come in looking for legit info don't have to wade through all of this refuse. You don't see people in the Earth reissue thread constantly bitching and moaning about missing out on the 500 colored Bees Made Honey and Hex reissues like you do people complaining that they missed out on 2,700 splatter EOTS records. I'll even give you a thread title. Ready? Endlessly repeated questions and complaints about Enema of the State: Splatter Pressing.

  28. thepunkguy on here is really into this label and Papir is probably my favorite or Causa Sui (although I'm 51 and sort of grew up and burned out of the psychedelic music from the 'Nam era). Causa Sui is probably the biggest band. The label is Norwegian called El Paraiso, and there's a photo of them playing ON THE BEACH which is crazy re: the equipment! Great label if you are a fan of that genre. http://www.elparaisorecords.com/artists I'll PM you my address so you can send me some Norwegian spirits, when you order some vinyl

  38. I'm not saying it's perfect, but the algorithms these kinda things are based on need a lot info from all over the search space. They aren't always recommending movies they think you will love. They are trying to get new information out of you to improve the overall predictive power of the system. Some of it really is (figurative) rocket science. Netflix used to give away a million dollar prize to anyone who could improve on their system. A lot of universities and labs would go after it.

  42. It would not be wise to speak so bluntly yet be so incorrect. We do not have extra jackets on hand so therefore we can not provide replacement jackets at the current moment, however, we are currently working out a drop shipment situation of extra jackets from our manufacturer which needless to say does not happen over night and speaking very frankly we are waiting to hear if this can actually be done. Much like some of you are waiting for answers in regards to that issues so are we. Anyone who we have been in touch directly and those who provided the details we have kindly asked for (full name, order number, and photos of damaged records) we are certainly doing everything in our power to see that we can obtain replacement jackets. Mind you, this is something that we are not obligated to do and being a lifelong record collector, well over 20 years myself, I can personally attest to the fact that most companies won't ever do that let alone consider it, however, we are trying to make arrangements to do so to keep you fine folks happy and your collections looking snazzy.

  44. Not being sarcastic at all. We hugely appreciate anyone who's taken the time to check out the Alex G song, any of our back catalog of releases, or taken the extra step and purchased any vinyl (or tapes) that we've helped to put out. I would never be snarky or sarcastic about something like that, those kinds of gestures are literally the lifeblood of Orchid Tapes that help us to continue what we're doing and putting out more releases. I know a lot of people are used to paying a bit less for LPs from "DIY" labels, but this is how it breaks down for us: Between doing music as Foxes in Fiction, occasionally mastering music and running Orchid Tapes, I have no other forms of income at this point. As of the past three months or so, I usually spend about 10+ hours on day-to-day operations related to the label, and a bit more around time periods where we're shipping large amounts of vinyl. We try to spend a lot of time being very fastidious over the physical packages that we send out to people (hand-written notes, stickers, hand-stamped envelopes and tea bags) because this is the kind of stuff that makes the process special to us, and hopefully to the people that buy things from Orchid Tapes. Because this can be such a time consuming process and because of the time required for my other 'jobs', I don't have any time left over to pursue any sort of employment that would provide a regular stream of income for things like food / rent / future Orchid Tapes releases. We put all our releases for free on Bandcamp because it's something we strongly believe in (with all the donations going back into purchasing download credits) so we make basically $0 on digital sales at this point in time. At this point in time it's just not viable for us to charge any less and still afford to be able to put out physical releases (as well as pay the artists we're releasing music for) and still like, have a place to live and work. Maybe in time when we're a little bit more established and have different avenues figured out for making actual money, we'll be able to charge less. We're not trying to rip anyone off, we're just trying release beautiful things that we can be really proud of and charge what we think is fair to both us as a label, our artists, and the people who are choosing to support us.

  45. So does every other diy label that charges $12 for an LP
