  1. As I am sure you all know, the recent re-issue of Deja Entendu has made some of us very happy to finally own and completed our Brand New record collections. While the RSD version was cool, it lacked the special packaging that we expected.. We wanted to see a return of the black slipcase, in which the original CD release came in. Why this wasn't done for the standard or RSD version (or even a deluxe version), is beyond me. Even 12 years later, I remember the awesome packaging that this CD had. Over the past month or so, I took matters into my own hands, Not as a cash grab (Trust me, I won't be paying my rent with this lol), but to try something new and give back to the fans and members of this board. After designing, sourcing and sampling, I have come up with a slipcase/sleeve that I am extremely happy with. It slips snug right over the recent re-issue of Deja Entendu, making it look almost exactly like the original CD release. They will be going live at www.dejasleeve.com on Monday at 9AM (PST). This will be a pre-order and these will ship on or before August 10th. They will be $5.99 for one and $9.99 for two (one for you and your lover, best friend, dad, etc.) plus shipping. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! I'm super stoked about this, and I hope the people on these forums are too!

  2. Looks like the pre-order is going up Tuesday. Out the last week of Sept. They are taking pre-orders at Pitchfork Fest. $30 gets you a pre-order of the deluxe 3LP and when you order, you get a 1 sided 7" of the new single. The pre-order card that comes with the 7" ( essentially a 1 time use promo code to get the album from the web store without paying - because I paid here at p4k) goes live Tuesday. So I'm guessing that's when Matador puts up the pre-order for everyone. No details on colored vinyl, heavyweight, track listing or whatever. His set was shortened due to rain so he played no new songs. Bit I'm really looking forward to this album.

  9. My band, Spirits ( http://www.spiritsxxx.bandcamp.com ) released our debut LP back in May and I've been meaning to post a collection of pics showing off the packaging we designed to go with the record. If you've got a second to scroll please give it a look as we're pretty happy with how everything turned out! This is how the LP looks when you first see it/pick it up. In the poly bag its actually kind of difficult to tell that it has a vertical wrap and just looks like a standard white cover with the pencil drawing and the bands name on it. As you slide the vertical wrap off of the LP it reveals the record's title: Discontent. Also the next layer below the skin from our sad looking gal on the front cover. Next you pull the LP jacket apart diagonally to reveal below the muscle layer... the skull. It is a printed dust-sleeve that houses the actual LP. We really wanted to make something with multiple layers in the artwork and are super happy with how this turned out. I don't know if I've ever seen packaging with this cut in it. We printed the jackets through Imprint and they were super cool with helping us figure out how to make this cut and with adding the extra tab on the traditional jacket so that all 4 sides of it would be sealed until the cut was made. When you flip over the dust jacket it reveals a wall of lyrics and the credits for the album. This is the back of the LP jacket that pulls apart diagonally. Song titles that are not visible when the wrap is fully on the LP. The two main variants of vinyl are clear with black smoke and clear with red smoke. They turned out really cool and each one is pretty unique. The red LP in the top corner of this picture is the only copy that ended up being a pretty solid clear red throughout so naturally I had to hold onto it. This gives a pretty good representation of the variation of the clear vinyl with color smoke added in. Bonus fact... the center labels are 3 dimensional if you look at them with 3D glasses. If you'd like to pick up a copy we have them in our limited run store here: http://www.spiritsxxx.limitedrun.com and you can also download the record for free here: http://www.spiritsxxx.bandcamp.com http://www.spiritshc.com if you'd like to keep up to date with anything we have going on! And last but not least, you can follow us on social media as "spiritsxboston" on instagram, tumblr, twitter, and such! Thanks for checking out the end result of our collective work as a band since the beginning of the year!

    PO: Elder - Lore

Saw Elder yesterday and the show was really cool also because the venue is pretty small and there were not more than 40 people in there. The guys of Elder played it hard and here's what I came back home with: Lore 2xLP | Clear 180g. | Tour exclusive Is more like a cloudy clear wax, there are just a few white smoke traces inside and it's very nice toward a light. Elder & Mos Generator screenprinted EU tour poster limited to 30 pieces and a nice patch.

  18. got my EU copy today. looks slightly different from the US version. we get opaque records, a nice reverse cardboard gatefold, printed inner sleeves (that unfortunately are too thin) and a download card. the lighting on the picture is crappy. the yellow is a very strong, deep yellow.

  30. Saw him with Whiskeytown in '97 in a bar full of approximately 20 people, 15 of which were my friends sitting at the same table in the balcony. He and Caitlin came out for a solo encore, and after a few songs began asking for requests. One of my drunken friends asked to hear some "Tupelo", and he proceeded to throw an epic fit about how much Uncle Tupelo sucked...and then stormed off the stage. The alt country movement was gaining a ton of steam at this point in time, the first copy of No Depression had recently hit the shelves, documenting the movement..aptly named after Tupelo's first album.

  40. Actually just tried watching this one... 10 seconds in and anyone could already tell Kess is a pretentious asshole, and they used so many cuts in that first 10 seconds, they obviously have no idea what they're talking about, or even how to speak.

  42. Here is my breakdown for the Chicago show. If your date has motion city soundtrack or matchbook romance I tip my cap to you. Acts I liked before the lineup was announced The wonder years - I disnissed them for the longest time because I thought the music was generic and the lyrics turned me off because they sounded like some people that I had grown apart from and now just feel bad for. But after seeing them live I jumped on the band wagon. They are touring constantly so I've now seen them a handful of times. I do wish they'd step off their pedestal though. It's one thing to be the savior of pop punk it's another to remind us every chance you get. Aaron west - same as above Transit - haven't heard anything in a couple years and I guess no one likes them anymore. As long as they play a couple songs I know it'll be fine. Neck deep - I listened to them last year because they were on the lineup but didn't see them. I won't be making that mistake twice. August burns red - less scene core than the bands they inspired. Pretty decent live show. Silverstein - we go way back. They are like your cousin that you don't see very much but at the end of the day they are still family Grey Gordon - know a couple songs and they are charming Mc Lars - it seems he plays warped tour every year. Not that it's a bad thing Riff raff - iceberg Simpson Bands I am nuts about now that I only started listening to since they are on the lineup Moose blood - uk lads playing music that fits in with modern baseball and seahaven Have mercy - stripped down acoustic bedroom Emo that occasionally rocks out. Girls drive us crazy. Heart ache and what not. Trophy eyes - a little more abrasive than I perfer but still good Bands I have heard good things about but still need to really listen to before I make an opinion Let me know which ones to listen to first. I'm looking for more story so far and less state champs. Hundredth Koji Lee corey oswald Citizen Handguns Seaway Pup The dirty nil This wild life Major league Bands I'll see for the lulz Attila - watched two songs last year. Comparable to the titanic sinking every time they take the stage. Escape the fate - not sure what is going on with them probably too much hookers and heroin Ho99o9 - I might be a fan after their performance Slaves - Jonny Craig is always a wild card. I think he is the only dude that has gotten girls to flash him on warped tour and I don't mean 1 there were about 6 three years ago We came as Romans - not sure if they will get to do their interlude during a 30 min set Le castle vania - if I get drunk or slipped something I might go dance M4sonic - same as above

  43. When you guys attack Ross's label, you are also attacking the 6 people who share the ETR eBay account and harming their ability to put food on the table and then re-sell that food for 5-10 times the cost.

  44. Oh, I know all about his uncouth practices. But it's more about the product he's selling then the person selling them. Otherwise, Kanye West, Kings of Leon, Liam Gallagher, Tom DeLonge, Ryan Adams, Morrissey (not the poster here), Metallica, Guns N Roses, Weeknd, Neil Young, Queens of the Stone Age, Sonic Youth... I could go on... wouldn't have careers if their discourteous fan-hatred and bastard attitudes overshadowed the product they were selling. As for the Nickelodeon record (not the Doug one, which I'm not buying), they're all the original songs. These aren't covers. This was a album that was previously released in 1998 through Kid Rhino. He just managed to grab up the rights for this one album and pressed it up. We'll find out how well mastered these VHS ripped tracks can be on vinyl, but owning it is more a testament to nostalgia than a record that you'd play over and over again. I'm sure every single one of you own a record that you bought simply to own, because vinyl is a physical format that extends so much beyond the music contained in the grooves. It's an aesthetic, an emotional, and a tangible exemplification of our interests. Or else you wouldn't pay extra for "limited edition numbered colored" Mondo releases.

  45. U guys are judging us who want to spend $18 to hear Silly Ross play tribute versions of our favorite songs from Doig. But it's u who are the ones who have to pay the largest cost, as your soul can not be healthy with this hate in yor heart. You tell us what to do but u are the ones who are afraid to look in the mirror...because you know you want to buy these but you are afraid to be who u are.

  46. why would you spend $30 to hear a bunch of 1 minute nicktoons theme songs you can listen to on youtube anytime? I think I would blow my brains out after about 5 in a row. And there's about 20 per side. But also, his lawyer threatened to kill me with his dick.
