  11. Such a fan of this release. Personally i've had more than enough of the 90's early 2000 releases of the last year. Obscure challenging areas are what a club should be about! And if your not familiar with this band no worries, the zamrock/late 70's african rock is great! Well worth exploration.

  14. This is a nicely mellow record by Pete La Roca with a little bit of a Euro jazz/spiritual jazz vibe. Originals aren't that expensive. It's got John Gilmore, Chick Corea, Walter Booker, and Pete La Roca.

  18. Hey, guys. I am selling my Sam Wolfe Connelly "Silent Hill" print. It is the regular variant (the better one IMO). I've taken it out of the tube once and have yet to frame it. You are getting this for what comes to around $35 plus shipping. I'm taking a hit on this one.

The audio signal is cut directly to a copper disc whereby the traditional analogue audio disc master cutting process is cut into a lacquer-coated aluminum disc. The key advantage to DMM is the copper master disc can be plated to produce the required number of stampers using a one-step process. Lacquer master discs require electroforming a master (“father”), “mother,” and then stampers, in what is known as the traditional “three-step process.” The DMM copper disc serves as the “mother,” which bypasses the silvering process and two electroforming stages, thus reducing the risk of introducing noise that can be generated in the traditional lacquer master process. The advantage of DMM over acetate lacquers are both sonic and practical because of the rigidity of the master disc medium and no groove wall bounce-back effects after cutting, all of which preserves the original modulation details in the groove walls, offering a better high end frequency playback and quieter surface noises.

  21. These reissues (the first wave, at least) were cut from hi-res digital files. While some think they sounded good, the general consensus on the Steve Hoffman Forums is that the Classic Records releases blow these out of the water. Another disappointing aspect is that with the announcement of the second wave, it would appear they are skipping over a lot of the other albums, such as Passion (easily one of his best works), Secret World Live, Ovo, etc. Would've been great to have reissues of those on vinyl. Personally, I think the first four reissues sound pretty good. It's nice to have pristine copies of his albums, but at the same time, I really wish they would have gone the extra mile and did all analog cuts so that these could be the best versions of the albums ever released (I'm not sure if US and Up were recorded digitally or analog, though).
