Just got back into vinyl a couple of months ago after 30 year absence. Finally got fed up with the compressed sound of digital, so on the advice of my son, I rediscovered the joy of LPs once again. Could not be happier. System is: Uturn Orbit with acrylic platter, Tannoy System 800 speakers with a Yamaha RX-V377 amp.

So last night was different. Had coffee with a friend of mine who's a terrific artist and I ended up at his place at 3am getting my first tattoo. And my second. It hurt.

I've figured from the beginning that Novu wouldn't get KH or MGS. Those are MASSIVE licenses and they're an unknown company. Even Firewatch is going to be a stretch for them when there are companies out there like iam8bit doing it so well. I'm currently in the late stages of sorting things for my first release. It's a game that has been mentioned in here before (or maybe the old thread), so I'm hoping y'all are going to be into it. Then the second release is going to be HUGE, but I've managed to secure a big name to work on the artwork and he's really busy at he moment, so it might take a little while. EDIT: I also doubt Novu will do Mirror's Edge, for reasons that I can't really go into.

My Gillman variant from Norman records came in today. Although I'm normally not one to collect multiple variants of records, I couldn't help myself with the Monster Squad 7"s. I love this movie too much. The complete set looks great together!

Overall the packaging is really nice, the lyric book is full sized 11x11 and bound together by string. The jacket a bit heaver than a normal single jacket and the record sleeve is standard black. Vinyl itself is 176 grams (I have a food scale at work) not that it matters but I checked for shits and giggles and comes with a download card.

I'm weird but I find the sensation of being tsttooed far more pleasent than the sensation of being tickled.

It was never sold out - Cult was having errors with their cart systems, both black and orange suffered through it. Both black and orange have now been available for a while this morning.

I sent him a picture of how truly fucked the LP was. Even he was shocked at how warped the C/D LP was (A/B was perfectly fine). Just bummed that I shelled out $50 for a record I couldn't play and got a lesser replacement. In the end, I got a replacement, so I shouldn't be too upset, but still...just bummed. He tried to make it up by throwing in an STB 45 adapter. So, there is a plus I suppose. He was definitely nice about the whole thing, so don't think he was rude or anything. I think he does genuinely care, and some people are cunts and try to take advantage. Still, all he has to do is ask for a photo to keep people from getting shit they don't deserve. Save a few copies of each version, wait a month to make sure nothing comes up, then release those extra copies if everything arrives to people just fine. That's what Ripple does. That's what a lot of labels do.

I've been pleasantly surprised at how well this works. I'll typically sandwich the LP between two pieces of glass and then stack books. A few days to a few weeks is often enough to get you playing again.

This is a nicely mellow record by Pete La Roca with a little bit of a Euro jazz/spiritual jazz vibe. Originals aren't that expensive. It's got John Gilmore, Chick Corea, Walter Booker, and Pete La Roca.
