Im probably the one person with this predicament ever, but somehow I ended up with two copies of Race. I had one guy reach out to me with some offers, but it looks like he backed out for whatever reason. Message me if you're interested in trading for it, looking for other interesting rarities! (Will look at trade offers over money offers) Pics: http://m.imgur.com/iYyw0Lz,jtq8znS,MIQQra5,DA5NwhK,hKPrhfz

  12. Confirmed. This is fake. You'll only receive the sleeve & no vinyl. Like the time I ordered a human head from Eastbay & all they sent me was a stupid hat. Always read the fine print.

  13. Here's what a manager at (of all places) Barnes and Noble told me today. The ones we're seeing listed as pre-orders at or near $40 at places like Soundstage Direct (and B&N) is the EU re-issue by Interscope and is 180 virgin vinyl. The ones listed at pre-orders at or near $20 is the US re-issue by Geffen (same parent company as Interscope and A&M) and is standard weight vinyl. I think he's correct as I remember MusicDirect had it listed as Geffen and "standard weight vinyl" before they pulled their pre-orders for $19.99. We shall see! Today was double membership rewards at B&N and I had a coupon for an extra 20% off that I had to use by the end of the month so I grabbed an Interscope for $25 and change out the door...they list the release date as being September 9th. Near Mint (Label Thread)

Long time no talk! We've been releasing a lot of vinyl this year, which is a great thing for us but perhaps not the best thing for cassette collectors. However! We have a lot of new stuff on the way: We just released Broken Beak on 7/1 and put up Anthony Jay Sanders for pre-order on Friday. Both of these albums are projects we as a label (and the bands) worked on for the entire year up until the release and are stoked on them. We only pressed both on vinyl, but tapes are coming for both releases soon! We also are putting out a tape-only release in the next couple months with more news / single stream soon. And fear not! Our annual halloween split cassette /31 is in the works. Volume 3, since it's our 3rd year. Recap of upcoming Near Mint tape releases: Anthony Jay Sanders - I Will Be The One Who Goes Rocky Votolato - Sawdust & Shavings (Re-issue) Dingus. - I Was A Boy Scout (Re-issue) Fear Mint. Vol 3 (Artists TBA)

  18. Needed a show to watch, saw this thread, looked up the show, was right up my alley. Three episodes in now, and I'm loving it. Is this soundtrack the 80's/90's-feel score of the show? Cuz the music is great.

Ya boy nabbed an effin Charizard at the OC Fair on Friday, was celebrating a birthday when out of nowhere my girl checks her phone and couldn't even fucking talk, I just saw her screen and opened my shit as quick as I could, ended up being a cp650 Charizard, I then used all my stardust and made into a CP1150 before shit started getting expensive, my girl was the lucky one and got a CP1355 out the gate, my theory is the first person to find the spawn gets the higher CP version and everyone else who finds it after gets the lower level like I did, 2 others were also trying after us and they had the same as me, nabbed a Charizard and a Snorlax in 12 hours, shit was wild.

  22. You're under no obligation to listen to any material he releases. I haven't had time to listen to the new song, but I think that his last couple albums have been just as interesting as what he was releasing in the early SKM days. His style has changed and perhaps he should have picked a different moniker to release the new material under. Seems that some people have an easier time dealing with a large shift when it's under a different name. Overall though, he's writing songs for himself at this point and I think we're lucky that he chooses to release them at all. I'm glad he's challenging himself and the listeners. It doesn't always work, but at least it's not the same release over and over again. He's not going to be writing another April and people just need to accept that.

  27. Morning all. I forgot to mention the hilariousness of a prize package they were offering on The Price is Right a few days ago. It was a "Complete Vinyl Records Set Up" including a U-Turn Orbit and a set of basic records like Led Zeppelin & Jimi Hendrix. All I could do was shake my head....

  39. Why would you feel guilty? Even the artwork on most their recent releases is laughable. It's the same thing with Riding Easy. It's like they receive a modicum of success and then get lazy. I'd much rather see 2 quality releases a year from a label than 12 mediocre ones. It's not like there isn't enough of these types of bands already that every single one needs to be signed & put out a record. Music isn't the Special Olympics. Every band doesn't need to be treated like a winner.

  45. Everyone's voice changes over the years and so will the sound of a singers voice. Milo is a 50 year old man now and I'm sure he sounds different then from the 80's and 90's. Plus he even mentioned in a recent article that he enjoyed going into the studio and blowing his vocal chords out everyday while recording. Sounds to me like he was trying. Bottom line.... Long time fan, love the new tunes.

  47. I get what your saying. However I think your slightly missing the point in this instance. 4ad as a record label, has built a reputation not solely on the quality of the artist music output. They have a clear track record of some of the greatest bands, ever to commit music to vinyl - Bauhaus, Cocteau Twins, The Birthday Party, Pixies, The Breeders,Dead Can Dance etc etc etc. But what has always set 4ad apart from the vast majority of labels, is the way they presented their artists work. The physical delivery, i.e the artwork and the presentation of the music via the visual medium of the album sleeve, is an integral part of the experience of owning a record from the classic era of 4ad. I have been a follower a devotee an obsessive collector, of all things classic era 4ad since I was 15 years old. When I first stumbled across Head over Heels by Cocteau Twins. Not only did the album blow me away, but the art work that presented it, was so different and unusual. So owning a piece vinyl from 4ad although it is about great music first and foremost. Its also about the joy of experiencing some quite visually wonderful too. So i think that, its perfectly reasonable to express disappointment. Given that the "mock up" presentation is so radically differing from the final product that has been delivered.
