I was in line and scored one for Sasan. Mo was nice enough to let me grab an extra for the boards and that went to Jeffthomas84. My buddy happened to know a guy who couldn't make the screening and I ended up with a copy for myself. I never planned on being able to walk away with a copy because I made it a point to help out other members before me especially since they helped chip in and throw a few extra dollars in to help with gas and the ticket. I didn't flip anything I got, but instead helped everyone out with the 15 extra things I got for members at the Con. That being said... get gaped.

If you don't see the relationship between that, then I dont know what to tell you.

The more you make, the higher percentage you can afford to contribute. I'll just make up some numbers for reference. Someone making $20,000 paying 15% now has $17,000. Someone making $1mil paying 35% would have $650000. $17000 is not an easy amount to live on a year. With $650000 you can still live extremely comfortably. I don't feel bad if someone has to drive a BMW instead of a Lambo. The concentration of wealth at the top is not only disgusting but dangerous for society and the economy.

I will gladly pay taxes for projects that make the community and world around me better, even if I don't personally directly benefit from the projects (for example, I'd pay taxes to support better education even if I don't have kids who are in the public school system). Wasteful spending is the correct target to me.

Whatever Ben, you specifically posted that in response to being called out about buying copies for the purpose of resale. The literal truth of what you stated aside, you clearly made that statement in order to emphasize that you were not doing that. The other wrinkle to dialogue these days...what do we mean by "prove it"? Do we mean "prove it in a way that most critical thinking adults would understand" or "prove it to me"? If it's the former, the 'strength' or 'weakness' of someone's argument is independent of whether the other party accepts/acknowledges/understands it as strong or weak. You can argue that XYZ is a racist and the person you are arguing with can say "That's a weak argument/you didn't successfully prove it" and it would not alter the strength or weakness of your argument; it would ultimately be up to the other person to respond with a counter-argument. If it's the latter, there becomes an unspoken agreement that your argument is only as strong or weak as the opposing party says it is. Your argument's strength or weakness is determined not by the evidence or support you provide but by the reaction that the other party gives your argument. In my opinion, A LOT of recent Trump-related arguing falls into this latter category. Instead of actually counter-arguing, we can now outright dismiss arguments with a flippant eye-roll, a copy-and-paste meme, or by ramping up the extremity of tone/opinion to the point of distraction (a good example would be calling another poster a rapist to make a point and garner a strong reaction). I think this is true for both sides, however, I believe one side does it out of laziness and lack of controlling our emotions and one side uses this argument style as a deliberate offensive playbook.

I finished the cabinet I was working on. Cost under $200 and should hold about 700 albums or so. I'm just really proud of the top. Too bad you can't see too much of it. Next step is getting a separate amp for the record set up. Feels good to design and build it myself instead of going to IKEA or paying an arm and a leg for a piece of furniture. It's a nice median between the two.

You can complete so many discographies for me right now and I'm so intimidated.

You can save $ by buying the frame extrusions and hardware on-line, the (acid free) backing and mats from an art store, and the glass (cut to size) from an actual framing shop. Put it together yourself. Do a bit of internet research first if you're uncomfortable with the assembly process. People tend to drop a lot of coin for something that isn't terribly hard to do.
