  3. You're right, it makes no sense. I can count on one hand how many new records I've bought that had scratches on them in the last 13 years.

  4. Could not agree more. KSE just doesn't hit home for me like they used to since Howard's departure. Fingers crossed Roadrunner represses EOH and As Daylight Dies, along with a pressing of the last S/T release. But we all know Roadrunner refuses to issue represses....i.e Slipknot's Iowa.

  5. The tour exclusive situation is bullshit. I got in there pretty quick actually and the merch booth was right at the entrance. The line was crazy long and they just started selling stuff. Rather than wait in line I just went up and asked the merch guy if they still had vinyl. He said they sold out before doors opened. They shouldn't even call it tour exclusive at that point. It should just be VIP exclusive and come with the platinum packages.

    Record Store Day 2017

I made a Lego model of my local place - they're going to put it in the window for RSD! Here's the actual place for comparison:

  12. Kind of random that's what everyone has been saying on Reddit since 12:01 Friday. Lol But, nothing is coming out except an extended music video.

  13. I agree on both of those. Haven't seen mutilator in a while...could be fun to revisit it.

  14. Pretty excellent. Got tickets to see Neurosis & Amenra in August, taking a train ride next month & spending some time in Chicago, the weather's finally nice enough to spend time outdoors...can't complain too much.

  15. Yeah, I have a couple friends who I've told to grab a Qui Gon if they ever see one anywhere. I've got a buddy who flips toys so there's a chance I'll get one eventually. I'm actually supposed to go look at his stuff tomorrow to see if there's anything I want, so maybe I'll come up on something good. I know for sure that I'm getting a Vader Force Choke.

  16. Watched an old 80's slasher called "The Mutilator" the other night. Pretty damn great. Straight up terrible acting and great effects. Also watched "Bloodsucking Bastards." It was okay at best. Effects were pretty awesome but a lot of the humor was just "dumb" and not very funny to me.

  19. I wonder what the number on the tour pressing is, I'm assuming it's a small number if it's being limited so much, but I don't understand why they didn't press up 2,000 or more.

  20. Believe me, as a librarian and person who used to release records, I handle records like babies. Honestly, most of the records I inherited from my parents are in better shape than most of the new records I've bought recently. It makes no sense.

  23. In my experience, there isn't a single place I can pin point. I get things from local shops, when traveling, and online, all of which I've continuously had this happen. It's kind of disheartening. Last week I bought 4 records, 2 had severe scuffing/scratching, 1 had light scuffing, 1 had some kind of chemical marking on one side making it almost unlistenable due to noise.

  29. This article has nothing to do with the quality of records but is super interesting if you're an engineer. Newbilt is the new company producing semi-automatic record presses. They're the supplier for the new Third Man plant machines. Interesting tidbits are that there are 22 US plants, 10-12 European ones, and about 3 in Asia. Newbilt is the only company making new vinyl presses, with a full line costing about $220,000 USD. If they go public any time soon, I'd invest in them honestly. You'd have to watch carefully, but it should grow for at least a few years. http://www.plasticsnews.com/article/20161007/NEWS/161009884/germanys-newbilt-machinery-tackles-the-niche-for-vinyl-record-presses

  33. I have a few records that were pressed by Pallas in Germany through Furnace Mfg in the US. Great QA unlike some other plants. GZ through Pirates Press used to have more issues, but they seem better these days.

  34. i've always just put 'em in a heavy book with some wax paper on both sides so that it doesn't ruin the pages

  35. not that it matters for much but the "good/listenable" picture discs usually come from GZ/Pirates Press

  36. At this point I'm just sticking with the D2C since it's guaranteed. If I run across one of the RSD ones I may grab it, but I don't really care at this point. More stoked about SDR on RSD anyway.

  39. Definitely let me know! I tried to email them and ask but it says Collectors-Choice has their contact form available. I remember I ordered form them one time and it was supposed to be a clear variant but it was a black version. They have something down in their fine print that says they can't gaurantee the color variant because it uses the same UPC (but somehow it always ends up with the standard edition under the color version listing, never the other way around).

  43. threads like these are dumb because anyone who has sold more than a small handful of records has has at least one bad transaction. ive seen names of people who are on lots of peoples good traders list, on at least one or two bad trader lists. what ends up happening is someone who has had hundreds of good transactions, ends up having one bad one where a record got lost or whatever, and some kid comes on here and smears his name, and an otherwise good seller gets blacklisted. take the first post here for example. that dude runs a record label, and has somewhat of a distro, and all that stuff. dude sells thousands of records. no doubt a lot of them are great transactions or the dude wouldnt still be in business. im not saying he isnt a ripoff and doesnt deserve to be on this list. just saying these threads irk me, cause you can have virtually unlimited positive sales/trades, and still end up on this list for something dumb, and suddenly tons of kids who have nothing to do with it hop on to say "yeah fuck that dude. im never dealing with that guy. he sucks" and starts spreading that throughout the net.
