not lucky, it's just a really good pressing. There is a just a vocal minority complaining. VMP has posted that they have had less than a 2% return/complaint rate which from what they say is better than any of their previous releases. This record has just drawn out a lot of crosley fans that like to complain.7 points

Discogs feedback question...
Hairy Potter and 3 others reacted to Mourning Wood for a topic
if you as a seller receive a negative before a transaction has been completed, first politely request that the other party remove it. if that doesn't work, go to the feedback forum, state your case and request that it be removed. it is very important to be polite in all discogs exchanges because if you are rude or curse the moderators will always decide against you, even if you are in the right.4 points -
I think the vinyl industry as a whole would flow a lot more fluidly if they based all their order availability off of whether or not miracleandwonder is in the know.3 points

Holy fucking shit, God bless the Observatory, I got a copy of the tour edition. I got the last one, some guy was gonna buy it, but I walked up and was like, "aww that's the last one?" And the guy buying it was like, "you know what, go ahead and have it, I was buying this one for a friend and I got one already." I thanked him immensely and if he's reading this thank you again. I also showed up an hour after doors open so that was just straight luck. Moral of this story is don't go to LA shows.3 points

VC General Guidelines and Not-So FAQ *** READ BEFORE POSTING FOR THE FIRST TIME! ***
faaip de oiad and one other reacted to jhulud for a topic
This is a pretty open community and resource for music listeners and record collector nerds. Here are some Guidelines and “Rules” if you’re coming in as a newbie or even the more pretentious asshole regulars. VC is not a “what is this record worth?” kinda place. Take those queries and research to Disccogs and eBay. Not here. Looking for info on that "rare" album you found at your parent's basement? There's a thread dedicated to that type of stuff. Post your queries there. Don't create a new thread asking info about that shitty Beatles record you found at Goodwill. Ask a dumb question…and that’s subjective…and expect to get ridiculed and ribbed and flamed especially with plenty of gifs. Don’t take it too personal as it’s only in the Internet. Be courteous and respectful towards others and each other. We all have different tastes in music and how we choose to spend our money on THE HOBBY!!! Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. If you act like an asshole to others, expect to be suspended and/or banned without any warning. Trolls will not be fed for long. We’ll have some fun at your expense at first but it’ll all be over once it’s not funny anymore. If you don’t have any plans to be a constructive and contributing member of this community…just move on. No deadwood here. Your favorite band/artist announced a new album? Great! Don't start a "PO SOON" thread unless there's any solid & legit info on a vinyl release. Get hyped about the release on the EE board. Don't clutter the main board yet. This isn't a forum for 'witch hunts'. If you have a personal issue with a band, artist, label, or individual please don't attempt to use VC as a personal army. Please do not 'Jr. Mod' the boards. Spamming a thread with demands that an user be banned or suspended is not helpful. Using the Report system is the best way to make sure the staff sees and deals with an issue accordingly. Have fun and enjoy the music. And records. And cassettes.2 points -

i mean discogs started out as a database to catalog electronic music releases. obviously the site has grown beyond that, but for someone who is maybe unfamiliar with the site doing research on it, i don't think its a crazy conclusion (albeit outdated) based on their history2 points

Cassette Players
Sprague Dawley reacted to janeheartsvinyl for a topic
After building a small collection of cassettes over the last few years (I work in a few different venues and they're an affordable/portable way to support touring bands or bands I like that isn't a t-shirt) I decided to start looking for my very own walkman or portable cassette player. Anyway I finally found this one yesterday at a thrift store and despite it looking like a piece of garbage it works great! I think I'll jazz it up with some stickers or something. Those of you who take your cassettes on the go, what do you use?1 point -

Discogs feedback question...
nardes reacted to Hairy Potter for a topic
Yes, people do have the ability to leave feedback without exchanging money but Discogs may work with you if it is viewed as unfair. As a seller, somebody once left me negative feedback before an order was even started because I did not respond to an order REQUEST fast enough for their liking. They then asked me to just cancel the order for an $8 Modest Mouse record because they were "over it." I politely emailed them and explained that I am not a business and I'm just a guy who sells records I don't spin much on her occasionally. I apologized for taking two days to respond to a request. I requested that they remove the negative feedback considering no money was actually exchanged and the only inconvenience for them was that they did not buy a cheap record. Of course there was no response from them. I was mad! I only had a small handful of feedback and all was 100% positive. The one negative review really bothered me because It lowered my rating to 65% Discogs takes feedback pretty seriously and were very reasonable in my case. I filled out a form to dispute the feedback and they removed it for me because it was obviously unjust. Here's a link to their feedback policy. https://support.discogs.com/en/support/solutions/articles/130000152481 point -
This was said on an article from Billboard: "They’re pressing 3,000 copies of the long-out-of-print Emotion Is Dead on vinyl, with half of them -- a red, black and blue splatter variation -- only available for those who purchase certain ticket presale packages. " I would assume that Mind over matter would be pressing it since they just did Deadbeat Sweetheartbeat.1 point

Let's talk about pressing plants.
zdkaiser reacted to jentenenbaum for a topic
I'm actually a big press nerd being on the distrubutor/retail side. I agree with a lot of what birdwell says, IMO Gotta Groove is the best plant in the US (they also have two press operators who make amazing hand pours on the side https://www.instagram.com/waxmagerecords) There's a newer plant in Kansas called Quality Record Pressings that immediately started pressing for labels only, mainly Legacy and Drastic Plastic, they even do their own electro plating in house which is interesting.1 point -

Support your local record store, also flippers. Edit: Ashamed to say this is my local shop. They routinely do this. Mainly, with SKM/Koz releases. Also, that "support local store" campaign I've seen on their posts, Amoeba, other sites is really dumb. I mean, if the local store has it, yeah, people will buy from them and not pay flipper prices.1 point -

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled on RSD as well, I'm curious of what the color will be. Rsdists it as /750, so I assume it will be just one of the colors (red maybe). If it IS red, I'll try to grab one for you Jhulud. If it's white or black, I'll grab one for myself. Anyone else get any weird sports cards in their package from Numero? Is that normal for them? Just thought it was so odd.1 point -

This thread prompted me to listen to all of that album... Kinda speechless at how little fucks is given by MK any more, even down to being bad Codeine "groovy bass jams" for 150+ minutes with so little variation and sooooo many callbacks as if this was the Captain America: Civil War chapter of SKM mixed with Magnetic Fields at his most alienated. I came close to buying it anyway precisely because this album seems so unpopular right now and the shelf-life of the songs seem to be six months which makes this an amazing time capsule of 2016 going into 2017.1 point -
Thanks for finding that. I was searching for that video for my post above. Approaching the vinyl record from the injection molding direction is very interesting. On one hand, the product quality is very repeatable. Nearly every piece that comes from the mold is exactly the same as another. Depending on the material used as the master mold, the stampers can also last quite a long time, more than is currently accepted with the high pressure on stampers. That said though, tooling costs for injection molding are ridiculously high because things have to be done rigght the first time. I think that Sycom and Newbilt will find a nice equilibrium together if vinyl sales continue. Sycom will make it's way into plants for larger labels that have the start up money and need thousands of copies, and smaller labels will gravitate toward the more efficient and older methods.1 point

But it's the amount of money they are charging that is cheating. Maybe it's the wrong word. I don't know. They're making a huge profit on this and getting away with it because of high demand, which is disrepectful to fans in my opinion. Last year I bought the Radiohead special edition and it was the same price. However, it was a double LP that came in a bound book with color artwork. To charge $32 for a standard and then throw a booklet and a slip case on it and call it deluxe is fine and all I guess, but to charge $43 for those extras is crazy. I mean it was discussed already when preorders went up. Just still blows my mind and left a bad taste in my mouth. Which sucks because I've enjoyed Waxwork releases these past few years and liked supporting them. That's my two cents on the matter.1 point -
