  1. Well, if we needed a swift kick in the ass to stop buying these awful nostalgia reissues and support new artists...this is it, gang.

    Chris Cornell (1964-2017)

Also the show ended around 11:15 and reports said that they found him around midnight. So that is a pretty small window for her to get that worried if there were no signs of something being wrong. So crazy that it all happened that fast. Tragic all around. Here's a couple pics from last night. I try not to be the dick taking pictures all show but I'm glad i got a few.

  5. Seriously? You don't fucking mature yourself out of depression. Even when people you know are aware of the struggle it doesn't always make it easier. It's a daily fucking struggle for people dealing with depression. It's not just feeling sad.

  8. Pretty insensitive to even joke that these two things are remotely in the same category of bad news.

  10. Just, just fuck everything. I usually don't get so worked up over deaths in the music industry, due to what people go through in the industry it's unfortunately expected, but this, no. This is so unexpected. His was so young, and this was so sudden. Man, I don't even know how to interpret this. Badmotorfinger is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time, and absolutely love everything Chris touched. This is a rough one. Thoughts go out to his family and loved ones.

  12. I'm honestly surprised it took this long for the NIN camp to realize that Firebrand are shit. I mean, c'mon...it all started with the debacle over the immediate downloads for any orders placed w/ not only the reissues but also NTAE release. I emailed them multiple times requesting the downloads and nothing happened for well over two weeks. Thankfully a few kind VCers hooked me up as they got lucky and got their downloads. The thread about this over at ETS is hilarious. Those folks are even more pissed at Firebrand than we are here in VC.

  14. The best we can hope for a Puddle of Mudd thread is a discussion about Coheed that stays positive and doesn't end in a lock and praise for Thursday. I can't imagine a better use.

  16. I agree with your message more than you care to know. I disagree with your tone and the time and place. That tone isn't going to open any hearts and minds to the message. Chris Cornell's music meant so much to so many people in so many different ways. I'm usually not an emotional person when it comes to death, but as I ponder what his music has meant to me, I can't help but mourn his passing with a heavy heart. His voice and songwriting skills were truly special and will continue to inspire, support, and uplift me for the rest of my life.

  22. This is a pretty open community and resource for music listeners and record collector nerds. Here are some Guidelines and “Rules” if you’re coming in as a newbie or even the more pretentious asshole regulars. VC is not a “what is this record worth?” kinda place. Take those queries and research to Disccogs and eBay. Not here. Looking for info on that "rare" album you found at your parent's basement? There's a thread dedicated to that type of stuff. Post your queries there. Don't create a new thread asking info about that shitty Beatles record you found at Goodwill. Ask a dumb question…and that’s subjective…and expect to get ridiculed and ribbed and flamed especially with plenty of gifs. Don’t take it too personal as it’s only in the Internet. Be courteous and respectful towards others and each other. We all have different tastes in music and how we choose to spend our money on THE HOBBY!!! Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. If you act like an asshole to others, expect to be suspended and/or banned without any warning. Trolls will not be fed for long. We’ll have some fun at your expense at first but it’ll all be over once it’s not funny anymore. If you don’t have any plans to be a constructive and contributing member of this community…just move on. No deadwood here. Your favorite band/artist announced a new album? Great! Don't start a "PO SOON" thread unless there's any solid & legit info on a vinyl release. Get hyped about the release on the EE board. Don't clutter the main board yet. This isn't a forum for 'witch hunts'. If you have a personal issue with a band, artist, label, or individual please don't attempt to use VC as a personal army. Please do not 'Jr. Mod' the boards. Spamming a thread with demands that an user be banned or suspended is not helpful. Using the Report system is the best way to make sure the staff sees and deals with an issue accordingly. Have fun and enjoy the music. And records. And cassettes.

  25. Not a fan of the artwork. Sucks that they are straying away from the thematic artwork that their last 7 records had. Always excited for new Silverstein though!

  26. I also feel extremely lucky that I got to see him perform with Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog. I never got to see him on any of his solo tours. Damn, this is a tough morning.

  27. I remember the final pressings, I just wasn't aware they were all gone. Oh well. Still plenty of Against Me! on there, and A Wilhelm Scream's Partycrasher which I still need to get.

  28. I didn't mean for anything I said to offend anyone and especially not people who actually struggle with depression themselves or have been affected by it via a loved one. I never meant to insinuate you can mature out of clinical depression. Sorry if I was unclear. What I meant is that it seemed like he had matured out of the suicidal mindset. You can be depressed and not necessarily suicidal. That's all I meant. I didn't mean to be insensitive about any of those things.

  35. So here is what I did fly from Chicago to Paris. 2 hour layover then fly to Zagreb. Immediately got a rental car and drove to Plitvice lakes national park. It was night so we got dinner and went to bed we had a room ($45 / night ) about 5 miles from the park. Woke up early and headed to the park. Spent the morning there. It is an extremely beautiful park with a dozen or so water falls. Google "plitvice lakes" Then we drove to split and dropped off the car. Had about a one hour wait for a ferry ($12) to Hvar. Got in around 4pm to port. Hvar is a tiny city. Spent three nights there ($60 per night). Rode electric bikes (too hilly for a normal bike), checked out the fort, walked around the city and the coastline. The water was too cold to swim. June, july, August , September sound like the time to go in the water. Went to cafes during the day. Despite being 65 degrees the sun was extremely hot. Then we took a ferry to Dubrovnik ($16). And got in around noon. We arrived st the port and took a cab to our room ($60 per night) which was on the cliff outside old town. Nice view over looking the city. Google "Dubrovnik old town". This is where some of game of thrones is filmed. Get there early (7 am to 9 am ) or late (after 6pm). During there day there are large Tour groups from cruise ships and ferry day trips that make things congested. We walked the walls surrounding the city. Took a kayak around the coves and the closest island. Some people were jumping off the rocks into the water despite it being pretty cold. It was sunny so the beaches had a decent crowd. Had a bunch of good meals and a lot of espresso. Spent two nights there and then flew from Dubrovnik to Zagreb. Then immediately to Paris. Spent two nights in a tiny hotel room there (much more expensive than Croatia). Checked out most of the touristy stuff. Eiffel Tower, arc de triumphe, louvre. Took a river ride. Went to a converted club in a museum from midnight to 6am. Overall really fun and easy to navigate trip. Everyone spoke English and was helpful. Drank mostly local wines. USD exchange is pretty favorable.

  36. Yeah that post I never saw, but still he said he was being an ass in which cactusbot responded with using such phrasing as "Stop bitching" "running your Pathetic little Mouths" "Fuckheads" "I'll show you what being an ass really entails" hmmmmmmm I think those words outweigh being called an ass and really just show that cactusbot really is an ass. And I am not trying to pour gasoline on this fire, but come on his response is so ridiculous, I don't care if people are asking you about a release or not! They are fans and are curious, that's the price of running a record label or pressing company. Yeah it may get collectively annoying being asked the same question, but there is no reason for hostility. You're like Russel Crowe trying to fight the paparazzi

  37. I think your response is really aggressive and you are just doing exactly what you said you hate about the board. You are literally no better than the people you are calling out by calling him a fuckhead or anyone else a fuckhead on the board. This isn't meant to be a smart ass post but please take a second and read his message than read yours, yours is 10 times more aggressive. Also he never actually said you were being an ass he said you showed "Sass." Edit: I also see he said you were an ass in a previous post on some other channel, so I apologize

  38. I really hate it when unpolished bands get better and make songs that resonate with more people. I wish they just stayed in their garage and made mix tapes so I was one of only a few people that ever got to hear them. That would be cool....
