  1. This album slays y'all. Gratuitous picture because the variant is so nice.

  2. I just played through my blue copy. The first side looked a teensy bit wobbily but sounded fine other than some surface noise every now and then. Pretty happy with the sound, I never knew there was a different version outside NA. The blue came out really dark but it's got pretty black wispys in it.

  4. Two members of Whirr have writing credits on a song. The song was my favorite on first spin I didn't notice until after. (I've now spun it again and it was even better; be excited)

  8. awesome, between figgypud and jon, got some movies to watch! anyone see Annabelle creation yet? we did Saturday and surprisingly like it. ive always thought all the conjuring was VERY overrated and the first Annabelle was just meh. but this new one has some decent scares, gore and strong story and the way they tie it in to the first was really great. also, there are 2 after credit scenes so stick around for it!

  9. Holy fuck. From the first few minutes all the way to the end I was doing the same thing. Also, loved the performance. Lissie is so great. We saw her back in 2010, when she opened for City & Colour. SO happy to see her on this show. Overall, this was a fucking killer episode. 4 left. I am not mentally prepared to lose these characters AGAIN.

  12. Alright, here's what I've watched over the last few weeks. Laid to Rest - It was a fun throwback slasher. Kills were entertaining and the ragtag group of protagonists was a nice touch. Did a nice job implementing modern-ish technology into the movie. The killer was a tad bland and I'd say that's the biggest weakness. I didn't love this enough to want to watch the sequel immediately, but I do think I'll get to it at some point. Tonight She Comes - This was a total mess. Lot of generic teens at a cabin material at the beginning and it's laced with cheap humor. It eventually turns into a possession film of sorts and maybe a dash of It Follows type unstoppable monster. There's some good gore and gross out stuff towards the end, I just don't think it's worth the time it takes to get there. It'd be a hard one for me to recommend. Hush - A friend recommend this and I thought it was decent. It could easily be seen as a partial analogy for our reliance on technology (movie doesn't hammer this point home) or you can take it for a face value home invasion flick. Deaf victim kept it interesting and worked well to add tension. I'm not sure that John Gallagher Jr. works as a villain at all, very odd casting choice there. Probably didn't help that his mask was pretty uninspired. Glad I watched it, not sure if I'd watch it again though. The Strangers - Just rockin' these home invasion movies! I mostly enjoyed this. I can see the comparisons to Them, but it's just a very different movie besides some general similarities. It's been a couple weeks since I've watched this and can't really remember specifics besides the fact that I liked it. It Stains The Sand Red - Not that good, but not bad enough to be fun either. Kind of stumbles out of the gate and doesn't recover for about 15 minutes. There's some fun monologue between the girl and the zombie and some occasional cleverness, but it mainly feels like something that would've made for a good short in anthology. The last 20-30 minutes to in a real different direction too. Not a bad thing necessarily, just felt a little out of place. Zombie makeup and effects were pretty standard. Some nice cinematography helps it a lot too. Killing Ground - Takes a little too long to get moving, once it does it's a pretty tense ride until the end. It's a pretty cruel film and leaves an impression. Has some of that coldness that Funny Games has (and was mentioned in this thread). A Wolf Creek comparison is pretty easy to make too, partially because of this being an Australian film. Ending is quite dark as well. I thought it was quite good, even with the slow start.

  14. Might be of interest to some metalheads - it looks like MOV is releasing Low on 2017-09-08: http://www.musiconvinyl.com/catalog/testament/low#.WYTClIjyi70 This album has certainly been missing in my collection, because I don't hate my money enough to shell out + 100$ for an original copy.

  15. Yeah, while the picture disc is cool and all I would almost rather have a signed normal ass black LP

  16. The one staff member over there did say this would rank third after Gorillaz and Fiona for the biggest bombsell they've ever released. Of course, that's all subjective.

  17. Anomalisa is being released on Wednesday https://mondotees.com/blogs/news/music-weekly-anomalisa-original-motion-picture-soundtrack-lp I'm very torn on this release as I adore the movie, love the score, and the packaging for this release is phenomenal! However I already own the MOV version of the soundtrack which I almost never listen to strictly because for whatever reason they decided to include full scenes of dialogue mixed in with parts of score which drives me absolutely insane. Judging by the tracklist it seems as though this is the same rather than strictly the score which is a shame.

  18. I don't think many are new at digging into music in general but I think it's that a lot of them have a certain genre that they're comfortable with and so may different genres get discussed/hyped over there that they may be digging into areas that they may not have before.

  19. Some users, not all, on VMP are relatively new to digging into music. It's tempting to poke fun at the mix of enthusiasm and lack of knowledge but, IMO, it's also very cool that more people are diving into the insane treasure hunt that is working backwards into the history of rock/hip hop/modern music. We all start somewhere and, after 22 years of collecting music, there are well known bands/genres I'm still naive towards. I didn't really get into Talking Heads until last year, I have zero knowledge of Jazz, etc. I tend to keep quiet about genres/bands I am barely getting to know while maybe some VMP posters can be more quick to assume the role of expert but I think that's just, as I said, the enthusiasm. Also, I consider myself a very young 31 year old man but I have to remember that still means I might have 13 years of more music listening on some other adults. Anyway, thanks for reading my novel.

  28. The monster really was cool, I'll give it that. I remember 68 Kill looked good from what I remember from the trailer. My wife has a lady boner for Gubler and I know she wants to see it so we'll probably end up checking it out soon.

  31. Last night I watched "They Look Like People" which wasn't incredible, but not too bad for a low budget movie. I wish they had pushed the physiological horror a little further. The ending was great though!

Dino Jr says hello But I'm afraid Billy's heavy hand in production has been a recent turn off for me. He needs someone to help edit his vision and he definitely needs Jimmy.

  35. im going to act like this is a "haha funny" comment because im pretty sure the extra one I bought didn't make you miss out on it but if it wasn't a "haha funny" comment then you can go complain to people who bought extras to flip, not to help a fellow VC'er out for cost (like ive done many times before here)

  37. Leftovers scratches some of the 'weirdness happening in a small town' itch but be warned that it focuses more on relationships than Twin Peaks and is more grounded (outside of the bizarre pieces). But it gets very fun and funny season 2 onward and the series ends beautifully. It is probably my favorite show period.

    The Autograph Thread

Another shirt autograph story, I was going to see Chuck Berry so I took his autobiography with me to try and get it signed after the show. I had bought the book at a yard sale and as I was walking up to him I opened it up onl to find the previous owner had already had it signed!
