I dont think Ive listened to an album this intensely in years. This might be a little premature but I think this album might be the greatest album I've listened to in about 10 years... I'm not one of those people who thinks a band can do no wrong either, if this was shit, id say it. Bravo Brand New, this is truly a work of art.

Not to play defender, as they're complicit or even guilty in some cases, but UO doesn't really make anything. They have vendors which they buy products from. But because most of everything is sold without implying what vendor it may have come from, it looks like UO ripped off some artist. Should they check more thoroughly for that stuff? Yes. But the responsibility really lies with the vendor to not be a piece of shit and rip off indie artists.

Nope. A lot of people out there have definitely held a lot more conflicting jobs to pay the bills, I get it. Just haven't seen any thread boil down into such a UO bash-fest before.

The simple point is that, if a producer chooses to capitalize on a product's scarcity (making it 'out of' a relatively low number), especially in a market particularly based on rarity, then later, after the money is collected, renege on that 'agreement' and make a bunch of copies of the exact same fucking thing, no one should be shocked or surprised that there is backlash from the consumer. Yes, yes, 'more records for more customers = good thing,' but - echoing many others in this thread - if that's what they wanted, they should have done it open to begin with. If they were gonna make a bunch eventually, every record shoulda been cheaper. But this 'hype' 'snooze ya lose' bullshit about buying new records forces people to be quick on the button, and when that hot-on-the-button savvy is cheapened like this, everyone who paid money ahead of time thinking they were securing a coveted spot is stabbed in the back. You can downplay the 'rarity game', but it's ever-present when buying new releases. There are websites and forums and a gazillion notifications constructed to make sure people are aware of new, limited releases. There's dozens of new PO's in this forum every day for that sole reason. It's an inextricable part of this community. People SHOULD be mad, because where does that stuff end? Soon every 'limited deluxe' that costs 60 bucks for 'true fans' will just make more when the preorders are done, and the value of everything decreases, and people will stop preordering because who cares, they'll just make more. Then smaller labels preorder advances will shrink and smaller labels will fold left and right. I know I'm taking an extreme slippery slope view, but I can't help but be drawn to these conclusions. Seriously, just make a separate second pressing, how is it not the same thing? Why make it identical, just to be sure to spit in the face of the preorders? And no, a tiny sentence indicating the second press isn't good enough if that's the only difference. I'll agree to that much.

Well this one just HAS to hit the goal....this is too good not to be on vinyl. The new album from Robots With Rayguns! For those not familiar, this is some pretty solid synthwave/synthpop stuff and the first RWR album to have a vinyl release. It is really, really good too! It's called 'Slow Jams' because it's all low tempo stuff and it's pretty good chillout music too . 200 need to be sold for it to happen, but 60 have sold in a week. NIN probably brought along stock of all the represses from the store which at this point is the only place to get them. I feel like I should try to go to this.

Received my VMP edition yesterday. Looks beautiful, and the vinyl is VERY smooth, my felt brush glides right over it. Surface noise doesn't seem very noticeable, I've only played sides A/B so far.

I'ma pass on that UO variant, like all UO variants---that company is trash and even if it's a band i love, I rather not support any UO release. They're notorious for stealing art from small illustrators and designers and are relentless about it. Obviously this isn't entirely relevant to this thread or vinyl and y'all can do whatever you want with your money but I figured i'd point it out for anyone that's in that field and takes offense to that sort of thing

I use paint thinner for splatter vinyl. Plus you can sniff it.

pretty sure it crackles because you cleaned it with windex
