  1. Glad everyone is enjoying the album. Converge and DW/Epitaph have put in a ton of work in getting it out there to the masses. Your support is appreciated. -J.

  2. There's pretty much every format you can think of for this including the lathe cut on old laser discs, CD's, cassettes and every colour of vinyl imaginable but I haven't seen any open reel copies so I've decided to do my own limited to 1 copy and delivered it to my only customer (me) yesterday. I'm going to drag out my Akai 8 track recorder next and do a copy on that just for the fun of it. Gotta find a nice colour laser printer now for the artwork.

  7. Sorry that I get to respond to this farce just now. i had a busy day but this has been on my mind the whole time. You're doing a charity project for an institution called RAINN but would be allowing something like "suck a duck, butch" to be engraved on the vinyl. Wow, like really? Do you even understand what you'd be doing there? Putting it right in the face of RAINN. Here's your money and a real copy for you with a special message. Enjoy. If this should turn out true then I'll be definitely cancelling my purchase - and I hope a lot of other people would feel offended, too. Don't get me wrong - I definitely don't want to spoil any fun of this project. But this would just be more than offensive - not only regarding RAINN. Just think about it for a moment and please let me know asap.

  9. It's working for me While it's not a bad setup, with how much these sites have been going up and down lately, I'd stick to something self sustainable like discogs or just an excel file.

  12. When I was 15 I stole this CD from target because I thought the art was cool, and that lead me to discovering the artist Alex Pardee who inspired me to start drawing and painting in high school and that pretty much changed my whole life and I decided I wanted to have a career doing art in some way. I haven't listened to it since I was 15 but I ordered a copy just for #nostalgia.

  13. Definitly the first very different album they had mainly due to using a sound machine and tons of production. But I first heard it when I was in my final week of my senior year of high school. I remember I recommended our perfect senior song be “devil beside you” which was a bside and Best Buy bonus track. But it did not get any votes so I boycotted graduation.

  14. This band is right next to galaxie500/luna and the feelies for the perfection of velvet underground meets television worship. Essential

  15. Finally got my copy and after a few spins it's not only the best sounding picture disc I own but also great sounding for any type of vinyl pressing regardless of the material. I guess 8 minutes a side was a good idea.

  19. Its gonna follow the vinyl design, half and half with splatter, the reddish side will be a hue that matches the art and the blue will be a really nice trans electric blue, the center labels will be much nicer and are being custom designed with the cover art ideas we got on friday, also the vinyl will come in a full color inner sleeve with some amazing art also using the ideas we got friday. All of this inside a high quality jacket with back cover art thats super nice. Im stoked for it

  24. its so crazy to make records like this, making only 60 for Gizz would be wild, The version I'm making for Gizz is gonna be fucking beautiful I promise! My shitty photoshop mockup will look like a joke when you see how that idea comes to life ; )

  25. $60 is a great price. You have to remember that buying music, especially on vinyl, is an event and it only happens one to two times a year- three if Taylor Swift, Coldplay, and Adele release records in the same year.

  26. Another one up through the Vinyl Record Raffle Community, the guy pressing this one raffles a lot of rare and uncommon Gizzard stuff and is a big fan, I presume he would be making use the quality is high on this. Sounds interesting https://hot-wax-records.myshopify.com

  28. Depite the fact this album split is not the way I'd really expect it to be released and am not happy about, but.. the direction this thread goes is so repetitive, that is almost funny. What exactly? For the past few years (maybe even close to ten?) people wait for a particular album, claim they would pay any money for this only if it's not a black market price, prey for it and so on. Then it is finally released and bitching starts. It's either too pricey, pressed in wrong colours/splatter, art is bad, etc. I'm pretty sure you all have seen that before I ordered box, would also get the single ones, but yeah, money. Original pressing plus test presses must be enough

  29. We didn't fool anyone. We always hold a batch of any limited variant until we are sure that the first wave of mail order copies arrived safe and sound. once we know everyone is taken care of, we release the rest. (there are another 10 sitting here but we will probably just give them to friends or sell them at a show in the future once we know this wave is taken care of.

  32. when have Brand New or 2000s emo bands in general ever given us reason to make the distinction between art and artist? pretty much everything these guys and their scene peers have written about is focused on themselves, the sorts of experiences they have had, the struggles and conflicts and desires and dreams they've always had (some were more literary about it than others, perhaps). that's exactly why these sorts of bands became the voice of a generation (to the subculture, at least). they helped people to understand themselves, to see others who shared their hurt or their failures. the focus of these bands on lived experiences allowed fans to see their own stories and journeys given voice and dignified. one of the reasons their frontmen were idolized was because their "honest" – i.e. personal, narrative – approach to songwriting made them sympathetic, brave. the kind of person you'd want to meet, someone you hoped would take interest in your story because you knew with certainty from their songwriting that they would relate to it on one level or another. in retrospect, this was a very risky move for these bands. because, if real-life details behind the literary, fictionalized versions of these songwriters' lives were ever to be exposed as shameful, or even criminal as they have been here, the texts we took for granted as anthems for our own self-betterment and recovery take on a more damning character. we return to the singer/frontman figure, no longer seeing them as leaders but as frauds. mind you, this doesn't obligate you, the listener, to draw a 1:1 parallel between allegations and specific lyrics. there are still plausible, perhaps even band-certified interpretations of these songs that don't require a connection to the horrors we've been watching unfold, to the crumbling of Jesse's credibility, etcetera. but the plausibility, the possibility even, of separating art from artist here is extremely compromised by a first-hand testimony of lyrics that were always predicated upon their plausibility and relatability. double-edged sword and all.

  33. Sometimes people don't want to consume art made by people that gross them out. I don't judge anyone who can or anyone who can't. It's personal taste, just like enjoying art in general. Except Woody Allen movies, he's gross and his art sucks.

  35. 1% my ass. tons of comments here and on socials/other forums, including yours, range from grossly naive to a defense of pedophilia. your lil gem, quoted above, belongs to the former. everything you've named here – mental disorders, panic, deep trauma when confronted with dredging things up – is a textbook example of the vile outworkings of grooming, sexual abuse, and manipulation. the fact you interpret it as potential indication of slander is irresponsible and clearly indicates you should not comment so crassly on something you clearly have no experience with.

  36. Well, nice thread. Got three or four new VC posters I know are awful people. Easily the grossest thing I've read on here.

  44. Hopefully my membership here will be a +++++ for both of us. I have collected vinyl for 50+ years, my main interests are vintage rock, jazz and R&B. I have a superb sound system and have over 5,000 lps in my collection. I am looking to expand my collection of records and hook up with other like minded souls. Regards Gary
