  1. If I could relive that show where they played all of Hazards. That would be heaven. Just a constant repeat. My whole life ahead of me...

  4. I also want to add that the mix/master on the No Flashlight reissue legit makes the album much better if you haven't heard it yet. It was always my least favorite of his work but I enjoy it much more now. Then Danny Brown named it his album of the year in a tweet a few days later and it sold many more copies than that haha I remember seeing that.

  5. I had to stop lurking to jump in on this. The language and words being used, the debate as to what they mean, is he racist or did he mean something else? Is all bullshit, it's all a distraction. We debate and argue pointless shit that keeps us divided while really shit that should have both sides outraged gets ignored because we can't agree on anything that the other side might also agree on or else maybe we're wrong about some things. The Democrats currently in office are complicate in their inaction to do anything, there is no such thing as bi-partisan politics at this point, but they keep up the image and stoke the fires to keep us politically divided. No one dares to get rid of one of their own that isn't doing their job because it might mean that we get one of the other side in their place.

  7. Roadburn Records is proud to (finally!!!) present two vinyl versions of releases that were only available on cd and digital. First up is Subrosa’s beautiful Subdued set at last years Roadburn Festival. The set was described by JJ Kocsan at The Obelisk as: “It is a reminder of the power a live performance can have and, again, as rich an experience as I’ve ever had in that regard.” The album is available on gold, white and black vinyl of which the gold one is traditionally the most limited: only 100 copies of those. Pre-order Subrosa Subdued Live At Roadburn 2017 on gold, white or black vinyl or on cd here Also Salem’s Pot 2015 set at the famous festival in Tilburg is now available for pre-order. We used the same set up as for the Subrosa album, it is available on gold (100), white and black vinyl. The first ever live album by Salem’s Pot, recorded during the 2015 edition of the prestigious Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, the Netherlands. With this release Salem’s Pot will destroy your mind. The band offers the same kind of winking tease employed by those low budget horror films of the ’70s and ’80s, which essentially dared audiences to experience what they knew they wanted, but couldn’t possibly expect. Pre-order Salem’s Pot Live At Roadburn 2015 on gold, white or black vinyl here. Also available for reduced prices are other Live At Roadburn albums like those of Uzala, Dead To A Dying World, GNOD, Slomatics, Windhand. I'll post pictures of the Salem's Pot album later this week as it came in today!

  8. Pre-order here: http://www.pwelverumandsun.com/store#mounteerie Now Only, written shortly following the release of A Crow Looked At Me and the first live performances of those songs, is a deeper exploration of that style of candid, undisguised lyrical writing. It portrays Elverum’s continuing immersion in the strange reality of Geneviève’s death, chronicling the evolution of his relationship to her and her memory, and of the effect the artistic exploration of his grief has had on his own life. The scope of Now Only encompasses not only hospitals and deathbeds, but also a music festival, childhood memories of conversations with Elverum’s mother, profound paintings and affecting artworks he encounters, a documentary about Jack Kerouac, and most significantly, memories of his life with Geneviève. These moments and thoughts resonate with each other, creating a more complex and nuanced picture of mourning and healing. The power of these songs comes not from the small, sharp moments of cutting phrases or shocks, but the echoes that weave the songs together, the way a life is woven. The music, fully realized by Elverum alone at home, is fleshed out texturally and seems to react to the words in real time. In a moment of confusion, dissonance abruptly makes itself known; in a moment of clarity, gentle piano arises. On the title track, the blunt declaration of “people get cancer and die” is subverted by a melody that can only be described as pop. As Elverum reinvents his lyrical process, he is also refining his musical vocabulary. Elverum’s life during the period he wrote Now Only was defined by the duality of existing with the praise and attention garnered by A Crow Looked At Me and the difficult reality of maintaining a house with a small child by himself, as well as working to preserve Geneviève’s artistic legacy. Consumed with the day to day of raising his daughter, Elverum felt his musical self was so distant that it seemed fictional. Stepping into the role of Phil Elverum of Mount Eerie held the promise of positive empathy and praise, but also the difficulty of inhabiting the intense grief that produced the music. These moments, both public and domestic, are chronicled in these songs. They are songs of remembrance, and songs about the idea of remembrance, about living on the cusp of the past and present and reluctantly witnessing a beloved person’s history take shape. Time continues. ELV041: NOW ONLY by Mount Eerie : LP + download (PRE-ORDER) release date: March 16th, 2018 A sequel or continuation down the path that began with “A Crow Looked At Me”. 6 word-filled songs about the raw strangeness of the present moment, waking up in wreckage, living with pervasive echoing real ghosts and a growing young child. Autobiographical. contains: 6 songs, 44 minutes, heavy old style gatefold tip-on jacket with special subtle blue paper on the inner liner sheet, all the lyrics, free download card 1. Tintin in Tibet (4:37) 2. Distortion (10:58) 3. Now Only (5:54) 4. Earth (5:52) 5. Two Paintings by Nikolai Astrup (9:22) 6. Crow, Pt. 2 (6:50)

  24. Stereogum had this page up early today. It has been removed, but you can find it through Google's cache. It said: Decemberists Hear The First Single From New Decemberists Album Inspired By New Order And Roxy Music Peter Helman @_peterhelman | 3:43 am EMAIL SHARE TWEET PIN IT REDDIT For their new album, the Decemberists are looking beyond bookish folk-rock. I’ll Be Your Girl, their first LP since 2015’s What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World, finds the indie veterans working with indie superproducer John Congleton for the first time, and he helped them chase a whole different sound. “We were talking about music and our references,” Meloy says in a press release. “It kept coming back to Roxy Music and early glam, and we dove in with that in mind. The Decemberists are a record-collectors’ band, we’re all fans and scholars of music, so there a lot of touch points that we all get, but they don’t always come through. So we were trying to embrace that Bryan Ferry aspect, that kind of set the tone.” Lead single “Severed” was originally written as a punk song, but “wasn’t really working,” Meloy explains. “Jenny set this arpeggio throughout it, and it became like an early New Order song. And I had forgotten that when we made the demo, I also started a file to turn it into more of a Depeche Mode song — I actually wanted it to be a synth song all along.” Listen below. embed tk I’ll Be Your Girl tracklist: 01 “Once In My Life” 02 “Cutting Stone” 03 “Severed” 04 “Starwatcher” 05 “Tripping Along” 06 “Your Ghost” 07 “Everything Is Awful” 08 “Sucker’s Prayer” 09 “We All Die Young” 10 “Rusalka, Rusalka / The Wild Rushes” 11 “I’ll Be Your Girl” Tour dates: 03/22 Fox Theater @ Pomona, CA 03/23 Arlington Theatre @ Santa Barbara, CA 03/24 Innings Festival @ Tempe, AZ 04/06 Palace Theatre @ St. Paul, MN 04/08Riverside Theater @ Milwaukee, WI 04/10 Chicago Theatre @ Chicago, IL 04/13-14 Ryman Auditorium @ Nashville, TN 04/15 Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre @ Atlanta, GA 04/16 North Charleston Performing Arts Center @ Charleston, SC 04/18 Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre @ Charlotte, NC 04/19 Durham Performing Arts Center @ Durham, NC 04/20 The National @ Richmond, VA 04/21 The Anthem @ Washington, DC 04/23 Smith Opera House @ Geneva, NY 04/24 Agora Theatre @ Cleveland, OH 04/25 Peabody Opera House @ St. Louis, MO 05/22 Red Rocks Amphitheatre @ Morrison, CO + 05/23 Uptown Theater @ Kansas City, MO 05/25 Hill Auditorium @ Ann Arbor, MI 05/26 Artpark @ Lewiston, NY 05/27 Boston Calling Festival @ Boston, MA 05/28 MTELUS @ Montreal, QC 05/30 Sony Centre for the Performing Arts @ Toronto, ON 05/31 Benedum Center @ Pittsburgh, PA 06/02 Murat Theatre at Old National Centre @ Indianapolis, IN 06/05 Iroquois Amphitheater @ Louisville, KY 06/07 Mann Center for the Performing Arts @ Philadelphia, PA ^ 06/08 College Street Music Hall @ New Haven, CT ^ 06/09 The Green at Shelburne Museum @ Shelburne, VT ^ 06/10 State Theatre @ Portland, ME ^ 06/13 BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! 29. They're probably the only band that I've enjoyed just as much if not more with every new vocalist. I loved Happiness when it came out and I thought there's no way they could pull off a third vocalist. Not huge on Instant Gratification but Acceptance Speech was solid and I'm pretty confident saying Mothership is my favorite DGD album (DBM being a close second). Saw them in Eindhoven with all 3 vocalists and it was a great show and experience.

  32. Despite the title, Distortion was finger picked and acoustic. It was definitely pretty somber but a little more reflective than the tracks on Crow. Tintin was melodic but heartbreaking and detailed Phil’s meeting with Genevieve for the first time.

  39. People's obsession with identity politics blinds them to any other aspect of an argument. Even when Trump does something that a racist would never do like make Martin Luther King's birthplace a historic national park it's either ignored or it's insisted that there's gotta be a catch to it. Hell, even Melania got trashed for simply paying respect to Martin Luther King on Twitter. Did any of you anti-harassment (especially towards women) folks get her back? The most disgusting part about this whole 'shithole' thing is that people are hanging into this and are being extremely vocal about something they really can't even prove happened (it probably did), but when an 8 year old American girl gets killed in Yemen by a raid Trump approved they hardly make a peep. That is insane. "I can't believe he called those countries 'shitholes'. Obama never talked down on third world nations, he just bombed the shit out of them." Yuck.

  41. I came across a post on VCC (Vaporwave Cassette Club) that outlined all current vinyl releases for sale that are branded as some type of vaporwave, or future funk. I can post it if you want, I haven't had experience with every one of those albums. If I had to make my own personal 'must have' list, it'd probably look something like: Saint Pepsi - Hit Vibes Macintosh Plus - Floral Shoppe Surfing - Deep Fantasy 2814 - Birth Of A New Day (Rain Temple and self-titled are/were available, but less essential imo) Vaperror - Mana Pool Catsystem Corp. - Hiraeth Macross 82-89 - Sailorwave Unfortunately missed out on the Macross, but I have the rest of it. Sorry if you're a hardcore vapor fan and think I'm totally wrong, there are others I frequently see in collections that I don't have that may be considered more essential, but I haven't heard em or haven't wanted to shell out. Be aware that some of these go for ridiculous prices on discogs, if they've sold out. EDIT: I guess you could throw OPN's Replica on there too, but I have long considered it separate from that scene, personally.

  43. Thanks guys for posting. I finished up mastering the release over the Holidays. It's a special release for me. These songs took on a new life/vision while playing with the full band and it became important to me to document and release them in some way. I managed to work out a fair (albeit expensive) licensing deal w/ the BBC and here we are. A friend of Gunface's, Dáire Lynch, created the oil painting while listening to the "WYW" album as well. We all thought it was great and were honored to include it as the cover art. It's going to be a busy year, this is just the beginning. I'll try and post here more when able. Thanks people. -J.

Haha then someone leaks it to the media and then I heard a reporter say that "Trump is teaching kids a new word, Shithole". It wasn't even meant to be heard. It's getting hard to watch CNN anymore.
