  2. I like to stick to non-gimmick records like Macintosh Plus releases that never ship, Hellraiser soundtracks that come in cubes three times as large as necessary and Frank Ocean records that are only available for 48 hour windows of time.

  5. Stand up must be watched on netflix, not listened to on records. .... Music must be listened to on spotify, not listened to on records.......

  6. Right? All this shit is on Netflix. Back in the golden age of stand up comedy records they were tailored for the medium, usually, and it was the only way to get them. There wasnt home video or on demand services. It was either go to a comedy club or buy an album. Personally I think all 4 of the new Dave Chappelle stand up specials were not good.

  10. Kinda funny story. About 6ish years ago, I bought Won't Be Pathetic Forever and the Under the Influence 7" as a birthday gift for a friend. He had uncovered an old turntable from his grandmother and some old records, and we had been listening to them for a little bit. Thought it would be cool to get him some music we were into. Then I saw how he just kinda threw the old records around and didn't really care about them. I didn't know much about collecting but had the feeling he just wouldn't appreciate the gift. So I kept them for myself. Couple weeks later, I bought my own turntable. And that's how it all started for me.

  11. At the very least, I would definitely expect a Loneliest Place on Earth variant. Possibly an Urban Outfitters variant since Hopeless has been doing exclusives with them these days instead of Hot Topic. A Target exclusive CD with bonus tracks is a possibility as well.

  12. Sometimes I think I've outgrown this band, but then they always put out another album that reaffirms my love for them, I hope they keep it up with this one. If I can afford the book before it sells out In definitely grabbing it.

  24. I'm with James on this 100%. It looks 'meh' at best. Granted...it's only a teaser to surely fire up all the uber-nerds like us and gets us conflicted...but if it doesn't have Spider-Man or even a mention or anything...then it's nearly impossible to have a proper Venom origin story then. Unless they do some wacky future story of a post-Spidey Brock and he's been cured of the symbiote and somehow comes back to it or something like that. Or it may be a more of a character study movie a la Ang Lee's Hulk (w/ Eric Bana)...which was alright for what it was trying to do...but still letdown.

  25. @Shitty Rambo This is basically it. They brought back Ross Robinson to produce, the production is live/raw as fuck, and you can really tell there's no click track. Personally , I *love* when bands do records in this fashion, and this album has a very urgent feeling to it, and IMO, the songs hold up. Plus Ray Luzier's performance-his first on record with the band-is completely unhinged. All that said, the idea behind it-making a purposely "old school" record- is very transparent, so your mileage may vary. The key word regarding this album from my earlier post was "attempt". They attempted a similar a similar aesthetic in 2003 with Take A Look In The Mirror, but that album is completely fucking terrible. Also completely fucking terrible was 2005's See You On The Other Side, and I cannot grasp how this album has its fans, as evidenced by this thread. But hey, that's me, like what you like. EDIT: I should clarify that when I referred to a wildly experimental self titled/untitled album in my earlier post, I was referring to the 2007 album and not the 1994 debut. Just to be clear.

  27. KIII: Remember Who You Are, but it's less that it sounds like it and more that it was produced in the same style. Lyrics aside, it was a strong and mature return to form for them as an aging metal band. A year later, on the brink of aging gracefully, they decided to make Path of Totality, or as it was referred to at the time, "Korn IV: Forgetting Who You Are"

  36. The cover isnt even taking artistic chances that don't pay off. Its just... stupid and lazy. Cant wait to see the breathless haul posts on reddit with people proudly showing off their purchase. "Only Maynard is innovative and daring enough to deconstruct our perceptions of acceptable cover art!"

  39. Actually, they know how to GOUGE..... as in, "APC is GOUGING their fanbase with a $125 box set of trinkets." They apparently don't know how to GAUGE.... as in, "APC didn't GAUGE how little interest there would be in a $125 box set." Sorry for the grammar police post. (Not to be confused with the ganja police.)

  40. I caved and made this #3 for me. The Constant Rotation pressing is done by a guy who runs a store here in Birmingham, he posted a pic of one of his on FB earlier. I'll try and dig it out for this thread later, but it might have to be #4! You're a bad influence! Are there any UK people still waiting on their Stolen Body copies? I got a shipping notification (well, label creation notification) a week or so ago but nothing yet. :/

  43. Anyone else thinking about not ordering just because of the artwork? I don't think I've ever passed on an album because of artwork, but damn that's bad.

  44. Eh, Maynard sold out long ago. Once you have a store dedicated to nothing but kitsch, and autographed material jacked up hundreds of dollars. It's hard not to see him in a hypocritical light after what he wrote early on, then he just became another cog in the music $ystem, taking full advantage of it like anyone else. I say this as someone who loves most of his material, particularly the first few Tool albums.
