  1. With all the cash grab soundtrack and video game vinyl labels out there we still can’t get the only soundtrack that matters. Im talking ground zero for a generation of suburban punks. Tony hawk pro skater

  3. Also spending cash to do decent sized runs of a record just to test the facility makes sense for a band that bankrupted their label building a perfect studio. Say what you will about time between albums/tours/recording/news, Kevin Shields is clearly a perfectionist and he deserves credit for putting the time and investment into MBV.

  6. It's possible they were unwilling to use them due to some audio defect or something, or it's possible they were unable to use them due to them being damaged or misplaced perhaps? As far as the jackets, both look identical to me. I even checked the center labels. Same there too. In theory, they should have updated the (P) 2001 to (P) 2008 for the repress, but didn't update their art files it would seem.

  7. This is exciting! Yes, i agree. I and have to double check later today if the black A-2 has the 759090E1/A stamped, i don't recall seeing anything like that. Could it be that early (A1) blacks turned out worse than they thought and made new plates, A-2, continuing black and in 2001. Later reused them for the 2008 and added the 7590...? Any thoughts on the covers? Anything you can spot or feel that is different from the 2001 and clear/splatter 2008?

  8. BLACK (2001) Side A: TWSLP13 A1 Side B: TWSLP13 B1 Side C: TWSLP13 C1 Side D: TWSLP13 D1 SPLATTER (2008) Side A: TWSLP13 A-2 DAMONT 75909E1/A Side B: TWSLP13 B-2 75909E2/A DAMONT Side C: TWSLP13 C1 75909E3/A Side D: TWSLP13 D1 75909E4/A Sides C/D for both 2001 and 2008 presses have identical matrix etchings and I'm 100% certain they were the same lacquer for both presses. (Specifically compare the 'S' and overall spacing) The 2008 press has the addition of the "75909E..." string, but those appear to be machined on and certainly not hand written. At most we can an infer this: Twisted was unable or unwilling (potential reasons are numerous) to reuse the Side A/B plates when they decided to repress TOTI and had to have a new lacquer cut. They were able to reuse the 2001 plates for the Sides C/D, but added the additional machined string to it. If DAMONT was not operational post-2006 it's possible Twisted simply had been working on the repress much earlier than when it eventually was released (not terribly uncommon for releases to be delayed months to years for various reasons). The TOTI 5th anniversary was ca. 2006, so it's plausible that they had that work done well before DAMONT shut down. Thoughts?

  9. Ok, I've got some intersting info for you now! The first pressing of this was on black in 2001: https://www.discogs.com/Shpongle-Tales-Of-The-Inexpressible/release/73839 My black copy lacks the DAMONT matrix info. [Also this discogs entry seems to have the DAMONT in the matrix, see below] Second press was on clear with multi color splatter in 2008: https://www.discogs.com/Shpongle-Tales-Of-The-Inexpressible/release/1292685 My clear copy exhibits the DAMONT matrix info. I conclude that in 2008, the clear repress got entirely new stamper plates (prob due to a new press plant vs. the 2001 press) and new lacquers were cut... but here's the kicker, it seems as if there were also new copies pressed on black at that time as well. I highly suspect that black copies with DAMONT on side A matrix etchings are the 2008 represses.

  10. Last night I discovered a Toti variant! A while ago I found a copy on local auction site but with record C/D missing . So I thought "Excellent! Backup of disc A/B and cover." Looking at them yesterday, I found that they have different matrix numbers. One pressing has "TWSLP13 A-2" and "Damont" etched, Damont being a vinyl pressing plant in Middlesex, UK. https://www.discogs.com/label/141989-Damont (Sorry for picture quality, pain in the ass trying to take good pictures) The other has only "TWSLP13 A1" etched, not Damont. The record seemed to be a cheaper press(or at least a worse), little "bumps" on the surface, the pictures turned out as crap so i'll take better ones tonight. I'll update Discogs as well, since there are at least two pressings of the original Toti release! :::O From what i could find, the cover had no differences, I'll look into it more this evening. :::)

My mom saw pac at a gas station last night and coincidentally asked him this very question. I coincidentally wondered it aloud in her presence. How fortuitous for our questioner.

  20. Let's just see how far this rabbit hole goes... I like to spend some time checking out old archived Twisted/Shpongle pages in search of first hand info about releases. I've been searching for pressing numbers and exact release dates to update their respective Discogs entries... Example: Here's the original sales page for the AYS minidisc. Shpongle - Are You Shpongled? (Minidisc) [TWSMD4] https://web.archive.org/web/20101016011913/http://www.twistedrecords.co.uk:80/shop/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=88 You guys help me look for a ~2008 TOTI announcement! Beware, the archive is full of dead ends. It's like a choose your own adventure! Haha

  22. I second the thought on abandoned mansion. Definitely not overly produced, which I loved. And one of their best albums lyrically. I could listen to that album all day long. Back in topic, still cannot find a preorder link outside of Amazon. Supposed to be released on Thirty Tigers.

  23. Yes, I read that! It's cool info. But I'm always struck with jealousy when i read that post. Test pressings, clear AYS, AYS signed by Simon... :::D What does the matrix on your Toti say?

  28. There’s some slight surface noise throughout but nothing major. Overall sounds good. Did discover my copy has a nice scratch across “Loneliness is Worse” somehow, which is strange because I just got it a couple of days ago and listened for the first time tonight.

  29. I think it’s out of a character enough for Shields to even let the public hear what was a supposed “unacceptable” pressing with the TPs, to think that’s the version he’d prefer is madness - especially when you consider it was a bonus inclusion with some orders, so going forward anyone buying it would be getting the “worse” pressing. I have no doubt he’d have happily sat on this repress another decade without hesitation if the final product was anything less than perfection to him.

  30. Forgot I also watched “My Friend Dahmer.” If you go into it knowing what it’s going to be, it’s pretrt good. My wife didn’t like it because she thought it was going to be him killing people left and right, which it isn’t at all. It’s about his time in and how he was in high school and what lead him to turning into the person he did. I never read the graphic novel, so I don’t know how close it stayed to it, but yeah. It’s an interesting and sad watch.

  39. I'm hoping music will be in a nice post-collegiate entry level position with a keen eye on mid-management. Dreams of that corner office will keep music pushing on until they can at least be considered for partner. Otherwise, I'd hope music might set its sights upon greener pastures and be willing to take some true chances with their career. I'd always encourage an expensive hair cut. Just my two cents.

  43. Oh, you should definitely check'em out! Gavin played drums on his first solo album...on TRTRTS & H.C.E. it's Marco Minnemann, who is a freaking beast! I love Gavin's drumming but kudos to Marco Minnemann, he's incredible! To be honest, I was suprised by Guthrie...never heard of him before and he's, hands-down, probably the best guitar player I've ever seen! That guy is incredible...I just can't put it in words! I think where Insurgentes was a collection of songs which didn't fit PT, Grace included more of a real song-writing procedure... But honestly, TRTRTS had brillant moments! Fantastic songs from start to finish although some doodling was just too much IMO! Until Hand.Cannot.Erase, Insurgentes was my favorite solo record...but then came HCE and BOOM! This is perfection from start to finish...it's a whole package that makes it the perfect SW-album! I never really listen to single songs from this record but the whole thing! It's fantastic!

  44. I'm not surprised at this at all. Attack Attack! kickstarted Austin Carlile, Caleb Shomo and Johnny Franck's careers as credible musicians. Even people who were never big on Attack Attack! are still discovering this album just because of Beartooth or Of Mice & Men or even Bilmuri. And for those who did or do still listen to this album, it's nostalgia at its finest. As much as this album was shit on around the time of its release, it is a staple in the "electronicore" genre. I'm not shocked that this sold out as quickly as it did.

  45. It's here! This thing is SOLID. One of the best quality deluxe sets of anything I own - and I own those Radiohead ones (IR & AMSP) if that tells you anything. So I noticed something that I found interesting... This release is advertised to have a 'hidden track' on it, which can be found by playing the outer-most edge of the Side C center label. I was sent the test press last December and I never discovered the hidden track while I was playing it and reviewing it, so I was like 'I have to see how I could have missed that!' - and lo and behold - my Side C of the test press is a different lacquer cut as evident by the runout markings! I checked and the Side D has identical runouts between test and product. This tells us that the 'hidden track' wasn't conceived of for this project until after a set of lacquers were cut and test presses made, sometime early 2017 presumably. So one side of one of the three tests was 'rejected' I suppose, to make way for the added hidden track. I found this interesting at least. Here's one more with the two first presses too!
