    BTBAM / TDH - Split

Not sure how many are left over from the vip bundles but for whoever may be interested. https://www.merchlimited.com/products/between-the-buried-and-me-the-dear-hunter-split-7

  2. The label almost exclusively presses OSTs that are better than the really shitty movies they came from you just happen to recognize this one. It's very intentional to press something no one else would and quite interesting to see how good some of these soundtracks actually were. Most releases have never been pressed to vinyl and are mastered direct from the original tapes and a lot of attention is paid to the sound quality which is far from a trait shown from the bubble jumper labels. Unsolved Mysteries is a terrible show, but them synths don't lie.

  3. I'll probably pull the trigger tomorrow. But thanks to a special someone who can snag it for me if it sells out before I have the option. For me it's not about Unsolved Mysteries., Nostalgia, etc... I just love spooky sounding shit. Everyday is Halloween.

  8. I went through the album while reading the lyrics on genius and it really hit me. So much of the lyrics have an even deeper meaning than I had perceived them and they connect personally even more.

  9. I'm having a hard time dealing with the loss of Scott Hutchison. One of the only things helping right now is listening to his music. “I thought it would be interesting to play around with the themes of restlessness and dissatisfaction on this album, both as a counterpoint to the exuberance of the music and as an obvious reference to the angst and tension I heard in the grunge and fuzz of my teenage years. This is not the angst of a teenager, however. This is the anxiety of a man in his mid-30s, and for a lot of this record I found myself wrestling with the ways in which I am not quite doing life right, in spite of appearing to lead a relatively joyful, playful and artistic existence.” To be fair, that doesn’t sound too far off from what he’s long done in Frightened Rabbit, and the debut Mastersystem single, “Notes on a Life Not Quite Lived”, even feels like a Rabbit track at first. Once the overdrive is turned up on the guitars and the drums crack out like gun shots, however, the song reveals itself to be far grittier than anything Hutchison has been involved with before. Take a listen below. https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/02/frightened-rabbit-editors-minor-victories-members-form-new-band-mastersystem-share-debut-single-stream/ Record is out now and really fucking good.

  16. So I guess the bonus 12" is exclusive only until it isn't. The set was advertised as "3LP - Double LP plus Rough Trade Exclusive LP Encores 1 featuring 5 extra tracks.", but now the bonus LP is being advertised for sale on its own, coming in June. For example, here from Experimedia (use coupon code MAYTEN for 10% off): https://experimedia.net/all-c-1/nils-frahm-encores-1-12-p-24393

  19. Score came today. Its as barebones as you can get. Single sleeve, plain inner. No insert. On top of that, it was pressed at United, so it comes with all the hallmarks of their pressings.

  34. My buddy just showed me them finally, and has been raving about them for years. I've listened to this EP like 5 times now since coming back from Dunk. Was going to make a thread about it last night but never got around to it. These guys are fantastic. I love the use of piano, and the vocals on track 3 are wonderful. The last track is without question my favorite though. In other news, This Patch of Sky has made it big in the Far East! Their music was featured in a McDonalds ad!

  35. I've only spun this in full once but it might be my favorite BH record behind Bloom. On first listen, it feels like they put a little extra effort into incorporating small flourishes that are outside of the traditional BH mold. Overall, it's still BH but I can definitely see the fingerprints of those comments about this being outside of their comfort zone/usual sound. Good rec.
