  1. I have no words to express the gratitude and support from everyone so far. This has been an incredibly difficult and unexpected turn of events and experience. My father had been fighting cancer for two years now...for a second time...and was doing well. But three weeks ago this past Wednesday, he complained that was feeling dizzy and not all balanced. We took him to the ER and eventually was admitted and found that he had multiple small strokes in his head, a brain bleed, and a heart issue. The cancer was in his left lung. In those three weeks, his condition physically and cognitively deteriorated. On that last week, it was worse than ever and it's when doctors advised that nothing else could be done. He was taken to hospice on Friday mid-day and passed at 3:00pm or so right as my mother & I arrived to see him as they had notified us he had arrived and was settled in. My brother had to stay home with our dog as she's been having a very hard time with my father's absence up until then. It has been a great deal of a struggle so far in not only these past weeks but also due to his passing. He left us without any info on a will or life insurance or anything of the sort. So we're handling all of this on our own as best as we can. We tried to contact a number of attorneys to assist us, but they're all asking for amounts of money we do not have. Thankfully, I have a few friends locally who have been able to guide us through some things as best as they can. But it all still feels very lonely and it's most hard on my mom as she feels all alone. And we don't have family close by who can stop in and hang out and be with us in these times. But I am thankful for Jared for not only making this post but also looking out and all of the support and love from all you VC'ers. It's incredibly appreciated and makes me feel less alone in dealing with this. We knew that my father would eventually pass but not this fast. But we're comfortable in knowing that he's no longer suffering and passed peacefully and waited to go as soon as we arrived to see him. I am taking comfort in that. Again...thank you so much VC. I feel the love and gives me comfort.

  4. Dear VC, It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I come here today to announce the passing of our beloved Juan's father, who departed from this world 6/30/23. During this difficult time, we gather as a community to extend our deepest condolences, love, and support to @jhulud and his entire family. Video Player is loading. Advertisement: 0:26 As many of us know, Juan has been an integral part of this community, without him there is no us. His commitment and efforts to this community extend outside of these boards, and he is a dear friend to many beyond this music community. It's our turn to give back and show our unwavering support to him. Unfortunately, this unforseen and sudden tragedy has left an immense emotional and financial burden on the family. The hospital expenses have been overwhelming, and there are also concerns about the family home's stability in the face of these challenging circumstances. To offer help and alleviate some of the financial stress a GoFundMe campaign will be organized, and shared here shortly. With hope, these funds should ease the excessive medical expenses, and provide them with the means to keep their cherished family home. If you have a moment to extend your heartfelt condolences to @jhulud and his family please do so. May he find comfort in the love and support of this community during this difficult journey of healing.

  6. I just joined interscope Vinyl collective subscription in Jan. January’s record for the interscope vinyl collective. product is Juice WRLD - "Goodbye & Good Riddance" IVC Edition. I received a copy of the Used's In Love & Death! Is this normal? Is it supposed to be a Used vinyl? $48. 38 a month is a lot for a Used record. I’m hoping they made a mistake.. The limited edition factor is what attracted me to this service. If I knew it was the Used I would not have joined.

  7. thanks for your patience with me on this one, y'all. i know there have been some headaches over the last year or so. we've really been going through it. i'm def not trying to make any excuses though and want everyone to be happy with what they ordered. i will say tho, i've had so much support from friends when it gets crazy, but day to day, all customer service, shipping, receiving, inventorying—it's all just me. so it can get kinda backed up sometimes (it is right now). we're bringing on more folks to help soon and gradually rebounding from the whole Awesome Merch fiasco. i can't express how much that knocked us completely on our ass tho. i think we're putting out some of the nicest, high quality, intentionally packaged records of any indie label our size currently despite all that. and i think we're gonna get things more organized and streamlined in the next few months. so, yeah, idk, i am rambling, but i just wanted to say thanks for bearing with us on some super annoying pre-orders. we'll definitely get things humming along again here shortly. oh! also! anyone getting the "Polaris Blue" variant and finding it doesn't look as intended. we're looking into how this happened as this isn't what we ordered. i was as suprised as any of you. here's some copy pasta i've sent a few people who have emailed to inquire about it: tytyty

  8. My guy. I've been holding my tongue, practicing the whole, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all," thing. BUT. You need to stop spamming the board with every thought you have. Read the rules/guidelines, read the FAQ, lurk the site to get a general vibe for a little while and then eventually try again. Use the search feature a little bit to see if you get any answers to your questions that way. Nobody here really gives a shit about reading your blog or looking at your social media unless you're in a very specific niche, or very good at what you do. Have you recognized any of the bands/albums that you see posted about on here? You seem mostly interested in classic rock and pop, which makes up a very, VERY miniscule percentage of the posts here. I know I'm not here wanting to mentor someone who is just getting into the hobby who also shares very little of the same musical taste, and I imagine most people here share that same sentiment. I wish you luck on your record journey, but this isn't really a "starting point" type forum. The most active users here have mostly been involved with this forum for well over a decade at this point and have been collecting for much longer than that. We're a little jaded, and a lot sarcastic, and you came in here with a lot of questions as though you've done zero research or work to figure anything out on your own. Take a break from posting, read some threads, come back later, and don't take it too personally.

  12. The product description quotes Jeremy as wanting to have it sound closer to Four, and less “claustrophobic”. I don’t know if I had any big problems with ISB’s mix, but I also know that Four sounds great. So I’m interested in hearing the new mix, especially as a side-by-side.

  16. Sorry, you just met a chav on the internet. Not all Brits are like that, it's just when you've had a potent kebab after a night out on the cheapest 'spoons lagers, you get a rage the next day that doesn't end when you've done a big poo. You usually see these guys walking around town centres with their shirt off, stained joggers, market quality Nikes sneakers (swoosh peeling off), arms hovering to the sides from invisible lats syndrome, the cheapest deodorant whole can sprayed all over which you can smell down wind a mile away, cheapest silver chains clanging about like loose change. And that 1000 yard stare; You must not give them eye contact until they've made it to Greg's for a steak bake or McDonalds, otherwise you have to endure about 5 minutes of them yelling "what u looking at mate? You gay or something? COME ON THEN U WANT SOME". Masking their sexuality with a bit of fighting talk, but they'd probably fit in nicely at a sportswear fetish night in Vauxhall arches. Anyway, hope you enjoyed it, good fun that!

  20. He’s been permabanned already. I’m choosing to leave the thread open for now to show how behavior like this escalates & results in an unpleasant experience for VC’ers. Even some of the VC old dawgs who lurked were bothered by it. I’d like to think that after 16 years of being here…VC should be a safe space for a good most of us. Yes, there will be some harmless making fun of each other in our tastes in music & bands…misguided & questionable for some…but a few of us have known each other long enough to know how to poke at each other & what lines to never ever cross. VC has always been an eclectic & mixed & inclusive group of music & vinyl fans. Be respectful to each other at least. It’s not a difficult concept to grasp. As was mentioned earlier…don’t go into a stranger’s house & shit on them & wipe your ass on the rug.

  22. Labels/bands take note, this is how you do an anniversary repress. No lame alternate cover, no 3LPs filled with demos and acoustic tracks. Just the album for those who doesn't have it. So easy. Edit: lol I forgot they did exactly this with white pony

  28. i don't have to (and nor would i ever want to) "know" you, you've shown your ass on here before on this same issue lmfao. you blame the victims and dickride mediocre rockstars, willing to excuse real harm and abuse of power because you clearly despise women, who are just "groupies" or "hookers" to you. if you were intelligent enough to, you'd have some shame and keep your mouth shut on these issues. but since you and all the other mouthbreathing rape apologists on here are not, i'm more than happy to put you in your place.

  29. Went to the Cincy show and it was one of the most unique experiences ever. I highly recommend catching one of these shows. I chatted with Matt a bit afterwards. He said most likely a July preorder for the reissues, all going through Polyvinyl. Some of the holdup has been cost because they’re releasing all 4 albums at the same time. I didn’t ask about a Jay print for them or any other details.

  32. I first heard Dreamhouse because the guy who runs Dark Descent Records (home of Spectral Voice, Blood Incantation, and other OSDM revival stuff that rules) was posting something about it, and all of the trv3 kvlt kydz were losing their fucking minds over this band not being "real metal" in the comments. I want to say it was a Pitchfork article, I'm not even sure if the whole album had come out yet. But I 1000% remember exactly where i was and what i was doing when I heard that first major chord come in under the blastbeats, and i was like "What the FUCK is this!!!!!" I was hooked instantly. Fuck the trends. Fuck the trv3 kvlt losers. I still love Darkthrone and Emperor and Entombed and I love Deafheaven and Phish and the Grateful Dead too. Fuck all of the boundaries and rules. Music rules.

  34. I’m a hardliner Swiftie and gotta be honest…I’m fuckin’ Swift’d out. She’s non-stop everywhere & overwhelmingly flooding the scene. It’s like, girl, take a break, go away for a spell, let your fans breathe & miss you for a bit. As a college friend’s grandma used to say: “Too much is too much…”

  35. I know you’ve all been dying to hear my 2 cents so here it goes… I’ve curbed on buying a lot of new releases and focused on grabbing 1st presses of my favorite records. Early rev stuff, first presses of some equal vision releases. I feel like I kinda hit the wall with new music and not many new hardcore bands do it for me. But I’ll find out about some old band and go after that collection like most recently Unwound and codeine, which thanks to numero isn’t too hard! The price of records hasn’t really dissuaded me from buying infact it’s encouraged me. I’m an independent contractor and we have a record player at work so I write off all my record purchases. I understand this is 100% not ok, but I don’t give a shit. And if anyone on here works for the IRS I’m just kidding.

  37. I used to buy back my own label’s releases from Hot Topic during Hot Cash days at literal pennies on the dollar then putting them back in my webstore and selling them at full price. Hot Topic was a godsend to microlabels like mine in the 2010s.

  43. Knocked Loose’s Coachella livestream was fantastic. So many people expected the typical “yeah it’s Coachella no one will care” theme to happen and they proved everyone wrong. Bryan got both listeners and non-listeners to stage dive, mosh, circle pit and sing along. Anyone who’s in a band needs to take a lesson from that performance. That is proper crowd control, showmanship, and how you make people who’ve never heard of the genre care about hardcore. They couldn’t have done a better job
