  1. I've already sung my praises for new BLID in the Teens of Denial thread but I'm so excited that we're getting *both* versions on vinyl, I was definitely expecting only the re-recorded version. I'll be adding both to my collection without a doubt.
  2. I thought the same exact thing on my first listen, during the first half my line of thinking was "this is good but..." then by the end I was 100% all in. I've been listening to it on and off all day and it just keeps getting better. Between this and the killer live version of Famous Prophets I got to hear a few times this year, I think the full band's gonna do something great with TF as much as I adore the original recording.
  3. I've always been skeptical of a Twin Fantasy re-recording 'cause lo-fi charm and all that, but new BLID has me completely sold. It's fantastic.
  4. Count me in as another crazy who uses both. Overall I prefer Discogs but the Excel spreadsheet is useful for things like price paid, date acquired, and number pressed if a limited edition (although recently I added a custom field on Discogs to note the latter on there as well).
  5. I'm fully aware this photo is garbage but this was worth schlepping down to Banquet Records to pick up today They tend to sell a handful of signed albums after gigs promoted by them happen (she played an in-store yesterday but I couldn't make it) and I was expecting black, *maybe* clear if I was lucky. But nope, tour purple! It's actually more of a fuchsia color, especially when held up to light. Very pretty and complements the album art well.
  6. I'm gonna hold off on preordering since I have a gut feeling there will be some sort of in-store event in London where I can pick up a (hopefully) deluxe version and have it signed, but yay, excited! WDYE is one of my favorite fun summer indie rock records of the decade but English Graffiti wasn't too bad and the new song snippet sounds promising.
  7. Banquet just listed it for £67.99 and I have an £10 voucher that would bring it down to about 75 bucks... maybe. That doesn't sting *as* bad considering the cheapest yellow and purple copy on Discogs right now is $60 and the Lonerism boxes go for stupid money now.
  8. I've also been holding out for this but uuuugh, that price. And uuuuuuuugh, remixes.
  9. I don't remember the last time I put a MGMT album on but damn, I am digging the shit out of that new single. Will be keeping an eye on this.
  10. Ooooh, I ended up selling my Direct Hits box recently since it was such a pain in the ass to listen to. I'll definitely keep my eye on that 2xLP.
  11. The webstore white vinyl arrived today, at first I was worried there was no 7" but it's tucked inside the gatefold in a thin paper sleeve. Side A is the Yuk Foo demo and side B is a demo called "Bad Things" - wish I could comment on it but I don't have anything to play it on in my dorm.
  12. So... I am actually really, really enjoying this. Way more than I thought I would. The first half especially feels like a lovechild of Skying and Strange House, and yet somehow it works (and it's gnarly as hell live.) Something to Remember Me By is the sad goth disco anthem I never knew I needed. The record itself is a great package - glossy gatefold with full-color inner sleeves and a WAV download, and it's only 20 bucks at Bull Moose. This release is a perfect reminder of why they're one of my all-time favorites even though I really haven't thought about them much in the last few years - falling in love with a band all over again is a great feeling.
  13. Picked up a pink copy at Banquet Records this afternoon for £20, this was around 2 PM and it looked like they had a decent amount left. If they have any copies left next Friday they'll be offering them for sale online, probably a long shot but something to keep an eye on I suppose.
  14. This will be the first ROTM I'm actually keeping since joining a few months ago so I'm hyped. I saw Moses open for Sufjan on the Carrie & Lowell tour and have eagerly been awaiting the album ever since.
  15. I thought my hype for this album was already through the roof and then this happened.
  16. Yeah... agreed on the contrast thing. Bigger font + less spacing + less contrast = ow, my eyes.
  17. Welp, that's dumb as hell. At least I can buy a pretty blue version now with the cash I just got refunded for that.
  18. That's exactly what I was thinking. I've been away at school during the last few in-store sales so there's a few exclusives I've been planning on picking up for a while.
  19. I'll be in NYC in a few weeks and definitely will check this out. Best of luck!
  20. I'm gonna second St. Dunstan-in-the East, it's one of my favorite places to just chill out for a bit and everyone I've taken there has loved it. It's decently close to the Tower of London if you're gonna be in that area. The major museums are all pretty great and not to mention free, except the transport museum I believe. The V&A and Tate Modern are my personal favorites, and the British Museum kinda goes without saying. The South Bank is pretty to walk along at night, there are food stalls around but I personally haven't tried any so I can't give any opinion on what's good and what to skip. There's a street food market on weekends at the Southbank Centre that I've heard good things about, though. If you have the time, Brighton is definitely worth a day trip. Buy a train ticket online a few days in advance and you should be able to get a good deal, less than $20 roundtrip per person. If you're a burger person, Burger Brothers on North St. is the best burger I've had in the UK. It's tiny and gets crowded easily but it's so, so worth it. Avoid cabs, they're a waste of money. London transport will get you basically anywhere you need to go for much cheaper and walking is even easier - in zone 1 pretty much everything is closer than you think. And yes, tube from Heathrow absolutely. A few pounds to central London in ~30-45 minutes. But as someone who lives on the Heathrow branch of the Piccadilly line, try not to let your luggage take up three seats while the rest of us stand.
  21. I'd also very much like one of the posters so if anyone doesn't want theirs I can toss you a few bucks + shipping!
  22. Pretty sure it's a licensing thing. They've allocated a certain amount of the limited pressings to the US store before (gold My Love is Cool and the box set) so hopefully this will be the same. I wasn't able to get the You're a Germ 7" from them until I moved to the UK, though.
