  1. Mostly records. But all music or stereo related somehow. If i post anything else its under the “story” http://www.instagram.com/vinylfanmichael/
  2. I got it locally yesterday at Waterloo. 219 + tax. Hunky Dory sounds amazing. Alladin Sane sounds good. I'm on Recall now. Sounding excellent. I'm a Bowie fan, just not well versed in all the non- album singles alternate takes. Liking Recall so far.
  3. If you read some forums like Audiokarma or Steve Hoffman you could come away with the impression all new records arrive warped or are purchased from a store warped. In the past several years I've personally only had a couple of issues and have bought countless records. Most recently my Ex-Machina second LP had a slight warping to it but was still playable.
  4. Thought I would bump this up with a recent Austin Chronicle Article where the writer visited all the Austin Record Stores. http://www.austinchronicle.com/music/2015-04-24/playback-record-store-crawl/
  5. If you have PVC sleeves (and some are issued this way new) you should check out this thread on Steve Hoffman http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/warning-to-all-record-collectors-outer-bag-inner-sleeve-concerns.387179/
  6. Sleeve city is supposed to be coming out with some just a bit larger. I've gotten all the Music Matters in the current 5 mil Sleeve City sleeves except Blue Train.
  7. Michael Fremer had a nice write up. I have the budget Universal digital release and might consider an upgrade after this review. But there is so much good stuff out there!http://www.analogplanet.com/content/music-matters-somethin-else%C2%A0%C2%A0-somethin-else
  8. Sidewinder from MM sounds great. I have a jacket-less 80s reissue that sounds good but wow the MM! So far I also have Go and Blue Train. I also have Ike Quebec Soul Samba 45 RPM from a few years back and if you enjoy Bossa nova and samba, this one is highly recommended. Not sure if it's eventually coming to the MM 33 1/3 schedule. As far as selling out, I still see copies of the MM Blue Train out there and that was released a year ago. Compare that to the Coltrane Quality Records Mono reissues recently, and those seem to be getting harder to find.
  9. Almost wish I'd ordered two of these now. Found an unused amount of a Mondo GIft Card. Framing up four of the handbills and the screen printed jacket would go a long way towards replacing the void on my wall that doesn't have the GOTG Stout print.
  10. You guys need to hit Sound Gallery on South Congress. Not the Continental Club area. This is south of Ben White but at least there is parking. They've been getting tons of new vinyl in. And used titles I never see around town. They also have gear vintage and new.. And a repair shop. On that note, I'm in there often because it's so close to me and half my visits I see someone bringing in a broken Crosley. The owner is trying to put together reasonably priced vintage systems as an alternative. He did well in December. Now he is getting low priced new tables in and powered speakers as a Crosley alternative. They don't sound bad. Really there is something there for all budgets. They have little listening parties too. When Beatles mono came out I sat up there and drank free wine all day. I couldn't it make it to the night Jello Biafra came and spun records. They probably have 3x the records now than you see on the web site. http://soundgalleryaustin.com
  11. This one sounds magnificent. Dead quiet on my system. In some ways it's sounds like the typical 1960s epic scores. But I'm so curious how it matches up with 2001, a score we had on vinyl when I was growing up. If I hadn't been in the damn Mondo line maybe I could have made it to the panel.
  12. I thought this was the noisiest Mondo release I've ever heard. I cleaned it with a VPI too. I know others have said they've gotten noisy Mondo records before but this is first that I at least found so noticeable that I don't care if I listen to it again. Hope it's just a one off and others have a better copy.
  13. My friend got one. he said it was just the track and then dead wax.Edit: I didn't realize that record was in the bat shape. My friend just got a 12" LP with the single track.
