  1. Yo! Episode #39 featuring UFC's Yves Edwards is now up! This one was a big deal for me, because I've been an Yves Edwards fan for a while and he's always seemed like a really cool guy. We discuss his youth in the Bahamas, rejecting religion, police misconduct, social media, working for Fox Sports, TRT, becoming a stuntman, the origins of Thugjitsu, Ryan Bennett and more! We call him up about 38:00 in. Beforehand, I also talk about writing a black metal concept EP about my Salvia trip to the Realm of Honsorcelo, giving up on being a purist, and being friends with prostitutes. Stream / DL here: http://strangerinastrangeland.podbean.com/e/episode-39-the-bahamas-of-pennsylvania/ iTunes link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/stranger-in-a-strange-land/id1137424708?uo=8&at=11lobW Also, everyone on VC will be pleased to know that I have made contact with His Highness Lord Grand Boulevard. He wants you all to know that new BOOMSIDE is on the way. Heard a brand new jam, and damn... Scumbag Jim and HHLGB went hard as fuck on this one. Really cool riffs and super topical lyrics.
  2. Episode #38: A Local Aging Regional Hardcore Hero Ft. George Reynolds from LIHC legends Mind Over Matter Stranger In A Strange Land returns with episode #38 - our longest yet! Due to a scheduling discrepancy, you get not only an hour with us, but an hour with the mighty George Reynolds as well. Join us as we discuss Shadow Woods Metal Fest, the block being hot (in both NY and NC), finding drugs on the sidewalk in Shelby, North Carolina, and much more. Following that, we speak with George about his scene origins, the rise and fall of Mind Over Matter, ...adayinthelife..., and Earthling Massive, as well as moving on from music and his upcoming foray into the world of podcasting. **George's segment starts at 01:01:30 Stream / DL here: http://strangerinastrangeland.podbean.com/e/episode-38-a-local-aging-regional-hardcore-hero/ iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/stranger-in-a-strange-land/id1137424708 Also, next week's episode is already recorded. For all the MMA fans, we'll be joined by UFC's own Yves Edwards! It's a great one.
  3. I prank called a Hebrew Israelite evangelist. Months ago, I searched for the whereabouts of the rapper Craig Mack (he's from my old neighborhood) and came across this crazy ass Hebrew Isralite who oddly enough happened to be from the neighborhood I last lived in before leaving NY. He is absolutely bonkers and the greatest prank call recipient I have ever come across. I feel truly blessed. The first call was so perfect, I couldn't have scripted it better. "Freddy from Brentwood" calls and asks him to interpret Ezekiel 23:20. https://youtu.be/Wkc7Czx136w The second call is pretty great too. "Reed from CI" calls up to talk about Satan's control in the physical world, and is informed that if a true Hebrew Israelite woke to find a woman sucking his dick, he'd smack the shit out of her to stay righteous. https://youtu.be/6xtpcSliBc4
  4. At long last, our real-deal, full length interview with punk rock legend, Rick Lopez of The Casualties! We get down on the fluidity of language and saying regrettable things on stage, the unending wonder of having your heroes become peers, life in LA, why touring is now more fun than ever, and a never before told story of Rick's friendship and beef with members of the immortal Bad Religion. This is going to be our biggest episode yet, so pack up a bowl of that good shit and dive in. Share the link with some punks and your favorite weirdos when you're done, too. SIASL 37!!! Stream/DL here: http://strangerinastrangeland.podbean.com/e/episode-37-i-really-like-smoking-it/ iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/stranger-in-a-strange-land/id1137424708
  5. In Episode 36, “I Saw Fred Durst Looking At Me” we welcome the one and only Corn Mo! We get into all sorts of wild shit and he tells us all about the future of .357 Lover, being in the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, touring with Ben Folds after giving him a CD at the airport, his work with Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees & Beyond, getting booed playing before No Doubt at a radio festival, meeting Kevin Von Erich backstage then having him over the house to hang, dinner with Bruce Campbell and the forthcoming biographical dance opera “Boomstick Ballet”, Appearing on MTV's TRL, Trying out for Limp Bizkit, joining The Polyphonic Spree, playing in Andrew W.K.'s band AND MORE! Also, our opening banter contains a blazing hot take on the Colin Kaepernick / national anthem thing. Stream and download it here: http://strangerinastrangeland.podbean.com/e/episode-36-i-saw-fred-durst-looking-at-me
  6. I just booked one of my favorite musicians that more people should know about - Corn Mo of .357 LOVER and Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees & Beyond! He's toured with They Might Be Giants, recorded with Ben Folds, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and has been a part of The Polyphonic Spree. I saw him open for Notorious MSG a few years back and have loved him ever since. This should be a good one! Recording tomorrow and released on Thursday! Drop questions here if you've got any.
  7. Rick was awesome to talk to, and I feel like we really covered all the bases, in regard to shit he's into. It's worth the listen for the Metallica story alone, haha. Also worth mentioning that this episode sounds great and has been our best-performing one yet. Looking forward to hearing some feedback if you decide to check it out!
  8. I feel you on that. It definitely came out rougher than we anticipated, unfortunately. Not only did we get all 3 Heene Boys when it was just supposed to be Balloon Boy himself, but he didn't interview well at all. Not sure if that has to do with him being a kid, or his family pressuring him to shy away from the hoax thing, but I was bummed. Although, I can confidently say that the Brian, Dan and Rick episodes are all very listenable. When the guest has a good phone and connection, as well as a quiet place, we can get shit to sound somewhat professional. We're hoping to get a new audio interface soon too, so that we can just do these through Skype and maybe up the quality a bit. Regardless, I totally appreciate you checking it out. It actually means a lot. I had kind of run out of dreams, but with doing this every week, having guests on, and getting people to listen, I think it's what I want to do.
  9. Bump. Also worth mentioning that tomorrow Wednesday we'll be recording an episode with Rick from The Casualties. If you've got questions you'd like to hear asked, or topics you'd like to hear discussed, drop 'em below.
  10. Yo! Episode 34 featuring Rick Jimenez is here! We get down on Long Island scene origins, steroids and how they relate to sXe, the legacy of "Sundowning", the transition from This is Hell the hardcore band to Extinction A.D. the thrash band, lunch with Metallica in Australia, elitism in hardcore, and a lot of other cool shit. We liked this one a lot. http://strangerinastrangeland.podbean.com/e/episode-34-cocaine-in-all-parts-of-your-body/
  11. Bump for the VC night crowd. Everyone needs to hear this. And by "this," I mean the podcast everyone on the internet is talking about, the Stranger In A Strange Land. Subscribe on Podbean and iTunes before all of your wackass friends beat you to it and rub your ugly face in it. Also: we're interviewing Rick from This Is Hell tomorrow. We'll be sure to cover pro wrestling, physical fitness, the early 2000's, TIH and XAD. Feel free to drop questions for him here if you've got any, though.
  12. Just did probably my favorite episode so far: http://strangerinastrangeland.podbean.com/e/episode-33-a-career-ending-shit/ https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/stranger-in-a-strange-land/id1137424708 "We're back with episode 33 and this time we're joined by special guest Dan Lomeli of Incendiary! We get down on The Gorilla Biscuits/This Is Hardcore 2016 incident, The Death of Internet 2 and the Birth of Internet 3, the Vagiton Apocalypse Theory, the movies Smash Rockets and Gift Wrapped, the forthcoming Incendiary LP set to be produced by Will Putney, and then we wrap it up with some wild tour stories!"
  13. Thanks for the warm welcome home, homie. You were one of the first members of the Boomside Freak Posse. Bet. Wish I had some dope new Rebel Music to drop on all y'all, but it was just too tough to put together a full length after some of our guys got out of the pen. I'd love for all my VC people to check this shit out. It's a wild dream and a really long road to hoe, but I enjoy doing podcasts as much as any creative endeavor I've been a part of, even as much as most of the bands I've been in. I used to want to be a rock star, then all I really wanted to do was get a dog. Now I have a dog. So I guess now my dream is to be a professional podcaster. My favorite back episodes are: The Worst Whipped Cream... (#30; Ft. Brian of FATA), The Pud Wall (#28), Anonymous Ground and Pound (#27), The Bad Feed (#19) and Surprise Microtel Express Philadelphia Interracial Threeway (#14). Just cut an episode with Dan from Incendiary tonight and it was cool as hell. I'll holla when it premiers so mahfuckas can blaze up and listen.
