  1. Does anyone know what variant the standard Loser Edition is pressed on?
  2. I think you'll be hard-pressed to find a variant of this record that better matches that center label. So purdy.
  3. Him and about 99% of the Concerge fanbase, I think. WFCC isn't their best release by a longshot.
  4. If this is literally the worst album you've ever heard, I do envy how sheltered and naïve your eardrums must be.
  5. Really sweet variant. I'll be sticking with my Mylene order, though.
  6. "its in pretty good condition" "things seem to be around $10 domestic lately so prepare to pay that, regardless to what the estimate says, unless the estimate is more." My favorite parts.
  7. Both Enter and Empros are timeless Russian Circles records that I adore a great deal, but I owe this album much gratitude in shaping my tastes over the years. It's one record I can still revisit from my highschool days, and worthy of the countless cookie-cutter clones that it's spawned, in my opinion. My votes goes to --
  8. I'll throw my name in the hat if it grinds the price down a bit.
  9. The only purchases I regret are the ones I grow out of, years down the road, and end up selling for cheap. (The Used, Blink-182, etc.) I don't think I've ever purchased something and scratched my head a month later.
  10. Yeah, I certainly don't think that they created a new genre. And any publication who believes otherwise is simply misinformed. But I think the fact that an album like Sunbather did become overhyped in 2013 is quite the feat. It's not exactly radio-friendly, but the [nearly] unanimous praise, exposure from Pitchfork, and cameo in Apple ads... I consider that impressive, definitely. It's a bit of a Catch-22, I suppose -- as much as I love the album, I would agree that - for a while there, at least - it felt like the album was inescapable in discussion or praise. Overhyped? Probably. But therein lies the accomplishment, I think... to have an album of Sunbather's nature enter the realm of bloated chat and that dreaded "overhyped" title, right up there with the likes of Kanye West and commercial juggernauts. To see any Deathwish release reach that sort of popularity is impressive, but when the record kicks as much ass it does, I think that's a beautiful combination worth celebrating. Overhyped or otherwise.
  11. That article is essentially downplaying anyone who thinks Sunbather is revolutionary, or anything new for that matter. Like it's not worth praising outside of "yeah, the album is good". That argument is one I've encountered before. But here's the thing; it's 2014. You're going to be hard pressed to come up with a completely original sound. I don't care if Alcest or An Autumn For Crippled Children have channeled this sound well before Deafheaven. And I don't care if "blackgaze" isn't an entirely new concept. The fact is that it's the first commercial success for the sound. And if the author is insisting that Deafheaven can't claim the brag rights of coining the genre... I say they're at least in a position to gloat about making it as popular and successful as it's become. And to me, that's worth recognizing and celebrating. Regardless of whether or not it's "been done before".
  12. I hear you on the splatter love, but the way that blue-gold matches the cover is almost uncanny. There's no way I could pass it up, personally, and the 500-rarity is just the cherry on top. Hopefully the finished product is actually identical to the mockup.
  13. Oh yeah, by no means are any of the interludes weak. I just think a few of them are over way too quick. They literally build into something beautiful and lush, and then pull the carpet out from right under your feet. I quite enjoy every single track on the album. But a few of the interludes on the second disc leave me scratching my head and wishing they were longer. It really is a phenomenal listen from start to finish. For a while there I kicked myself for never ordering it from UO's site. I was quite into vinyl at the time, but M83 hadn't really "clicked" until a couple of years later. I paid a bit more than $47 my copy, but I have zero regrets. Both the colored variant and the standard black are 180 gram, and the packaging is quite lovely. You'll be very pleased with whatever you may wind up with. I think it's the best M83 record to start with, personally, but nearly everything else in the discography is worth exploring at some point, too. Though I do have friends who were "spoiled" by HUWD, and insist that it's the only M83 record that does anything for them. I think I can see where they're coming from -- it's easily the most accessible, and the double-album length allows it to give and give.
  14. That gold-blue seems like a no-brainer. I'm not in the market for a copy, but that variant alone makes me wish I was.
  15. Great album, right here. Some of the interludes are a little short, and - while incredible - end up feeling like they were just kind of thrown in. But even considering that, I think this may be my favorite M83 album. Have you listened to the rest of his discography, Kess? (And have you seen the magic that is the video for ?) Best of luck on your hunt for this. It's going to have to be a decent trade, considering what this variant goes for.
  16. I would have maybe voted for TDAG if 18-year-old me was participating in this thread. Hype aside, that record really did push my narrow musical boundaries back in 2006. But if we're gauging our votes off of albums that we enjoy, currently... HAVE A NICE LIFE / DEATHCONSCIOUSNESS
  17. I thought there was speculation that this was a hoax, no?
  18. The premise seems pretty abstract, from what I've gathered, but I've heard good things from the few people who've seen it.
  19. That may be the shadiest Discogs story I've ever read.
