PO: Dashboard Confessional Reissues

Surely these will see a wider release? -
They have officially released lots of live stuff, and we know they record pretty much every show. If they ever decided to do this, they have lots of good stuff to choose from: Pre-Boy - Dublin (the night they signed their record deal) Boy - Boston, October - New York, London War - Full Red Rocks, Devore UF - Nantes, Dortmund Joshua Tree - Paris, Denver, Tempe Lovetown - Sydney, all four Dublin shows ZooTV - Stockholm, Lakeland, Sydney, London, Dublin Popmart - Edmonton, Regina, Mexico City Elevation - Boston, Slane Castle, Notre Dame Vertigo - Vancouver, Chicago, Milan, pretty much the entire South America Leg 360 - Vancouver, Sao Paolo, hopefully something from the last north american leg, Glastonbury i+E - Paris JT30 - Lots of South American stuff e+I - Washington has been filmed.

PO Now: Decemberists "I'll Be Your Girl"

Really happy with this album. Rusalka is a welcome return to their storytelling side, and songs like Cutting Stone, Once in My Life and Starwatcher are fresh and interesting from them. -

It is all personal, but claiming it doesn't affect sound at all isn't quite right. Is the audiophile tag a marketing ploy? Yes. Is the 'deeper grooves' claim true? No. Will the average punter be able to tell the difference? No. The improved isolation and dampening you get with heavier vinyl, while small, does help improve clarity of sound, but these things are superfluous/environmental. I think you are referring to the fact that they can't physically get a better 'image' of the music onto the disc just because of there being more weight (which is true). My general rule is I go for 180g vinyl from physical stores I trust, and know there has been little chance of warping occurring (good shop conditions, shelving is not conducive to pressure, not posted in dodgy mailers), but a second hand record, or from a web store I'd rather a lighter option when available. An unwarped 180g disc is going to be more durable, and have a safer/happier life in a caring home.

Severed is a phenomenal song - I love when bands can pull out surprises like that 8 albums into a career. The 80s synth, fun guitar lines - the whole thing is just really solid. Super excited for this album. -

Try best since Achtung Baby! This is incredible. You'll be very happy - the singles are the worst songs on the record. No joke. -

U2 - Songs of Experience
dan_smee replied to lethalenforcer's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Yeah, the track is pretty good - I prefer the alternate mix that is floating around. The riff from the solo is used in the pre-chorus and it adds a lot. The steam goes out of the song there, but the riff helps keep it rolling, without ruining the build up. http://playiga.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/U2-Youre-The-Best-Thing-About-Me-Sci-Fi-Soul-Mix.mp3 I am not sure of the rules here re MP3 posts - this is from Interscope's own info service directly, so I don't think I am breaking any rules. -

As a long time U2 fan, I think opinions often spill into hyperbole in either the positive or the negative. The things you need to know about the last three: How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb: Not great as an "album" but really good as a collection of songs. Nothing is an automatic skip on a play through, but the singles are easily the strongest songs (maybe not All Because of You). Worth listening to, and quite enjoyable after all this time. Miracle Drug, Crumbs From Your Table, and One Step Closer are gold. No Line on The Horizon: The middle 3 are throwaways, and shouldn't be there. If they'd released an 8 song mini-album without them, it'd be much better. Some lost gems in the other songs like Moment of Surrender, Cedars of Lebanon, and the title track. Songs of Innocence: Really solid album that suffers because of the release method. Production is too glossy and sterile at times, but the songs are really good. Any review that looks past the release method says glowing things. Non single picks are Raised By Wolves, Sleep Like a Baby Tonight, and The Crystal Ballroom (although it is only a bonus track). Songs of Experience sounds like a far more adventurous album than those three - some more atmospheric and experimental sounds, more 'natural' sounding production and song structures, and really well thought-out subject matter. I'm really looking forward to this album. -

That it is! I've read the intro is them too (with significant pitch shifting and processing going on in the voice.) PS - I f*&king love your avatar. -

I can see how someone would think that way if it was branded as a Bono feature. But it isn't... Just because Bono is so annoying, people forget that U2 have a pretty great rhythm section - the entire second half is U2 playing drums, bass, and keys. There is virtually nothing else there in the way of synth, production tricks etc. I also think that the jarring change mid-song (reflective of the jarring change in theme - that is, revenge to moving forward with positive change) works totally, and using U2 was kind of a meta way of underlining that. So, not pointless IMO -
Have you used Australia Post ShopMate before? Local US shipping prices, then whatever rates they can secure to get it from a warehouse in Portland. Always works out cheaper. https://shopmate.auspost.com.au/

TOYPAJ is absent, though in the description for Dude Ranch is does say: "srcvinyl is giving the Blink 182 catalog the full SRCHIFI treatment" Seems to indicate that the others may get released, but they are doing 4 at a time?
