Still no fucking record.

With this ordered and the summer approaching, I may now have time to make a kickass box for these.

In the business, this is called "rosebudding". I'll never forget getting the phone call from an EMT friend describing his first call to one of these.

well fuck. Just found out my local record store closed this year. No RSD for me.

I'm done with preorders. Not that I hold high business expectations over small-scale music fans/labels but I'm no longer interested in sharing the risk of a recording getting enough money scraped together to press. The only exception is Art of the Underground's Single Series. EDIT: ...and of course anything No Idea

haha...so far 31 test presses! I love face to face but I just can't bring myself to doing this. Did kickstarter once and it was disappointing when the artist didn't keep their word.

I plan on it. Drew up a couple simple designs in CAD. Don't think it would be very cool for me to make multiples without the band or Var's permission. It'll probably take me a while to get off my ass and do this--I have way too many projects.

Wooden. I may get a woodwork buddy to fix my other one if anybody has an interest in it. Whatever I get for it will go back to MBD.

I got my replacement box in today. Priority shipping on just the empty box cost $15! Now I can understand their need to use media mail. I'm beyond impressed at how they handled all of this.

I also received an email promising shipment of a replacement. It was nice to receive such quick & polite responses.

It can be "fixed" but the sheared and cracked wood will always be that way. I'm sure nobody would be happy "fixing" a torn/folded record cover with tape and glue. Emailed both addresses that I could find. I mostly posted this as a heads up. I wouldn't have even bothered if it was just a $15 record. $155 is a different story.

EDIT: Received a very friendly & helpful email from MBD. They've promised to replace the damaged box below. Horseshit. Mine came in today destroyed. I'm so livid that I haven't even checked the records to see if they're okay. First off, we paid $15 for shipping and these heavy box sets were shipped in a fitted cardboard box with only two small bubble wraps sheets on each face--no corner protection. Mine was shipped media mail for $5.89. The additional 9 bucks could have been used to wrap this shit up just a little better...just a fucking little. The wooden box is brittle. This would be okay had the above issues been addressed. But they were not and now what you see below is what will probably happen to some of you:

i met matt riddle at a show we put on when i was music director at my college radio station, when he was playing w/ pulley...he said that was an actual recording of a real conversation.... it always sounded pretty staged to me... It definitely sounded staged to me but that's pretty funny. Perhaps it was a reenactment?
