jacobe got a reaction from Tommy in what ever happened to the collector of the month?
I want to be collector of the month.
I'll lay naked in my bed with my Lucero collection.

Some cool reflections by Andy on the MO catalog here, for anyone that missed it:

I went in via Secretly and my account. I got an extra as I figured this would be a nightmare to folks. If you've traded with me in the past - hit me up. My cost + shipping.

That's a pretty looking variant, I've already bought like 8 though, I won't do anymore.... Well, maybe just one more

jacobe got a reaction from shenanigans in Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
There's an accepted over/under on all pressings, but from what I've dealt with, very rarely less than.

jacobe got a reaction from rooks in Proper care of signed records
Get a LP frame with UV light protection, most craft stores have them.

Slowreader is on my wish list, but highly unlikely.

All I will say is that I wish him the best on his path to recovery. Admittance is the first step. It takes courage & a lot self-insight to recognize & admit there’s a problem & start getting the help.

P+P has been doing the same shit since 2009. Except then they actually did do cool packaging but it was always 5 months late along with other things. Glad bands have been pulling their catalogs from them.

jacobe got a reaction from MyEnemy in PO: Shook Ones "Sixteen" and "The Unquotable A.M.H" Represses (Revelation Records)
Ordered 12/14 when they were running a 5LP mystery pack, but have low expectations on shipping considering the state of the world, but when I reached out in early Feb, I got a canned "I was sick" email, so I said that wasn't a problem. I never heard anything and reached out again last week with no reply.

Let me tell you about a time, before must of you collected records, when no gave a shit about this album and you could get it new for $8...

https://www.popmarket.com/collections/sunday-steals-hip-hop
I know Popmarket isn't everyone's favorite, but they have Kid Cudi's 'Indicud' 3xLP for $7.99 currently with free shipping. I've never seen it drop below $25 anywhere online before.

jacobe got a reaction from hype in The Third Man Records Thread
Honestly, not really. There are things in there from time to time at random releases, but there's not been much outside of the Vault releases that make it worth it really. The items in the Vault shop are mostly novelties (Shirts, pins, pennants, books, etc), not much on the actual music release front.
I'm excited for this Vault release, I loved her album and this is a nice release to fill the gap.

jacobe got a reaction from fuckinandsuckinandtouchin in Secret Santa 2016 - The Unisex Edition
I'm shocked I didn't have this actually, so it was a great addition to the package.
If you don't have this, https://www.amazon.com/Invite-Them-Up-VARIOUS-ARTISTS/dp/B000BRP2E6/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1483813260&sr=1-1&keywords=Invite+Them+Up&refinements=p_n_format_browse-bin%3A1294042011 make sure to track it down as well. Great showcase of early material from some of the bigger comedians in the game currently.

jacobe got a reaction from 74R in Anyone with experience getting paypal to eat the cost of a record that got beat up by USPS?
Reads like the one you sent out wasn't packed correctly. Sounds like the one sent from Europe wasn't packed correctly.
Or your mail carrier hates you or records. Or both.

Picture is very late as I couldn't figure out to host it and actually get it to work (thanks @controlthebleeding for the tip and reminder). I thanked @curator previously, but want to do so again. Really went above and beyond and really nailed my personality/interests.
Gifts:
A number of mix CD's with very detailed notes on the songs - I have a lot of windshield time, these have been fantastic.
Comedy Death Ray CD
Wilco shirt
Wilco: The Book - I've wanted this for years and held off, so amazing.
Jimmy Eat World 7" from the new LP
Hot Dog Bottle Opener - I'm in the beer industry and my favorite food is hot dogs, this was a win/win. Also a fantastic opener.
Alamo Drafthouse Gift Card - Alamo is the #1 spot my wife and I visit and this came in very handy for our viewing of 'Rogue One'

Coming from a board where people give feedback like this: "received record with corner ding. DONT TRUST THIS PERSON. BURN HIM WITH FIRE!!!" that's a little funny.

jacobe got a reaction from deadbluehawk in Virgil updates
Before VC, he ran a somewhat successful record label, Suburban Home, that put out some great stuff. On the initial vinyl boom he moved to the forefront of pressing vinyl for labels that didn't have the money or see the need. He created a co-op, Vinyl Collective, to release record voted upon by members - there were a handful of releases, The Falcon, This Charming Man, Jealous Sound, but when it came to press the next LP...crickets. He seemingly took the money made from these releases, all of which were pretty successful, if not very successful, and likely recouped cost +. Some folks got refunds, most got nothing and he made money on the investment of board members.

jacobe reacted to bowserhound in Virgil updates
I believe the co-op members were a lot more pissed about how it all went down than what they were left with. The whole thing was that you could get out with your initial investment at any time, be it after the 1st release or the 10th. Sadly I think there were only 4 or 5. I forget what the buy-in was but I suppose you could have bought 4-5 records with the same amount of money.
And then when the shit-storm started, he just started banning everyone that was upset. He promised everyone their money back and whatnot. Then suddenly the whole site was run by SRC and Virgil was a ghost.
A giant asshole ghost.
