  1. I've sold on eBay and Amazon for 17 years and can count the number of problems on both hands. I started selling on Discogs this year and only made my first sale in July. I've got 2K in my Paypal right now because it's been so easy thus far. But then I had to set up my shipping policy, which to be fair, was easy. So I thought. I sold a Wings boot that Discogs let me list for $160 to someone in Japan. I thought I had the LP and 45 flat rate shipping set up, but it was backward somehow. So the guy was invoiced for $14 shipping a 2xLP to Japan instead of $25. I kindly sent him a message asking him to Paypal me $11 and I'd even pay the difference to ship it registered so we can track it a bit more than the normal customs label biz, but of course I haven't heard from him. I wouldn't respond either if I were in his shoes, lol. I literally paid $3 for the boot so I'm not going to lose the sale because of $11, but fuck! I have to make sure this shit is right or else I'm going to be eating the cost of shipping a lot.
  2. I know it's utter sacrilege because I love PTL/Bazan, SF59, TW's stuff and I even have the Velour - Of Color Bright LP. But this is just ... fine. Not anything I think I'll play repeatedly.
  3. When I opened my vape shop, I posted on vapecollective.proboards.com because I know I love the smell of fruit vapers, but didn't know anything about how to sell vaping to people over 20. Store lasted 37 days. Good luck!
  4. It's taken a while to get use to that word salad of a chorus but I like it a lot now
  5. This not about a soul record, but there's no garage thread. Found this NO garage single here in the NO this weekend. This band had a few singles, but not much else. This isn't the most sought after of their singles, but it's a good one. Nice fuzzy guitar break in the middle: Here's the info: https://www.discogs.com/The-Palace-Guards-Looking-Everywhere/release/6453636?ev=item-vc
  6. I work daily in an office but glad to be employed. I've listed nearly 400 records on Discogs in the past couple months because I have no record shows to sell at on the weekends. That's been nice. Even though I'm isolated, I don't mind it. I like it to some extent. Met a friend for dinner last week and ate outside. First time I ate at a restaurant since March. My son's mother and I were planning a joint move to Dallas this year but the pandemic fucked up my job prospects. She's a teacher so she got a job within 3 weeks of applying. So she went ahead and took my kid, which is the only real positive force in my life. I was mad but would had to take her to court to enforce our verbal time split. I've been quite depressed for the past month since he's been gone now. And the pressure of trying to find a similar job in another state I'm unfamiliar with is proving difficult and exacerbating my anxiety. But I'm determined because I feel like a failure as a father if I don't get there soon.
  7. I want this, especially both those DC web exclusive variants but I will listen to it once and put it on the shelf. I taped this Unplugged on VHS (probably still have it) to rewatch over and over. Those early to middle era shows before he blew up were great when the crowd sang along to every word. Even though it's totally a teen thing, it was fun being 21 and doing the same.
  8. Got the Lake Nowhere and Rogue One soundtracks for about 7.50 each.
  9. I enjoy watching insanely rare LP's being auctioned on eBay. This was one. Saw it toward the end of the auction and watched it finish. Pretty crazy the jump at the end. You plebeians don't know anything about this. Ha. I hadn't heard of the band and never seen the record either. Streamed it a couple times. Definitely wild and somewhat distinct for 1968 coming from Israel. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Churchills-Self-Titled-Psych-RARE-Holy-Grail-Orig-Hed-Arzi-Israel-Press-/184364230945?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=ni7eu2wSOpBEATAr03G0FXpTDuU%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc Stream the whole album. It's good:
  10. This is the one I got early on (Cream Translucent with Red & Black Splatter)
  11. That's a dope variant. ^^^^^^^^^^^^
  12. I'm tired of collecting Thou records, haha. I think one of my cubbies on my shelf is just fucking them. I don't even have mutliple variants. Just one of damn near everything 12".
  13. Jake, why wasn't this shirt reissued?? I've been trying to find one since they vanished when AWLWLB first came out.
  14. Might grab this when it's inevitably on triple clearance and $2.95.
  15. You've been looking for that Rose Blossom Punch 7" forever, yeah? I have that Thou stuff but I'm keeping it. Thanks for trying!
  16. I've been buying records since 1998 and I started selling around 2005/6. If something is really valuable, I'll probably sell it. But here's some stuff I kept: I found a lady in a FB group selling her old records. I offered to pay her around $20 per LP, which was ludicrous. But it was Starflyer 59's Gold, Fashion Focus, Everybody Makes Mistakes and MXPX's Slowly Going The Way of the Buffalo, On the Cover 10" and Teenage Politics and most were sealed. There were other LP's and 7"s that weren't as fun. I paid her $230 or so but I basically paid $12 per LP after it was done because I had gotten a total of twenty records. I worked at a record store for store credit for a couple years. I got 2nd state Velvet Underground and Nico in supreme condition for $400 in store credit that I acquired while working. Since working in a store then was just fun, it was basically free. Saves The Day - Through Being Cool (long before repressed) for $2 because I bought a collection and it was in it. Paid about $200 for about 100 LP collection. My friend Hunter texted me on a random Wednesday night that he was going to look at records by me. I had my son with my that night and I didn't want to drag him out on a school night, but it wasn't that far from my place. It was this lady who was living in an efficiency and 1/5 of the room was filled with records. We spent an hour in there and I got some cool things but I finally found a 50's pressing of Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool in the wild. Paid $5. Stuff I sold: I've never sold anything over 1K which is a goal I'm striving for, but I've still had some incredible luck. Bought a collection of 1,100 LP's last summer and it was the best thing I've scored. Paid $500 which was a lot of money at the time. But I got this LP. Only recently reissued and still selling $400+ (haven't sold mine yet): https://www.discogs.com/Alice-Clark-Alice-Clark/release/558515 Do you know the guy who played bass for Sun Ra? Me either, but this solo LP on ESP nets $200. https://www.discogs.com/Ronnie-Boykins-Ronnie-Boykins/release/1171298 This jazz record was in there. Always goes for a $100-250: https://www.discogs.com/The-Awakening-Hear-Sense-And-Feel/release/1397979 Southern University, an HBCU in Baton Rogue, released a few LP's of their jazz band in the 70's (directed by NOLA's own Alvin Batiste) and these are highly sought after. This one was in this collection. I haven't sold it yet either because I'm hoping to track down another cover because mine is thrashed. But it should net me a few hundred even in the terrible shape it's in: https://www.discogs.com/The-Southern-University-Jazz-Ensemble-Live-At-The-1971-American-College-Jazz-Festival/release/12158075 Other stuff - A lady I bought some 45's off a couple years ago emailed me out of the blue to tell me she had more 45's. I was broke, broke and her description of what was there wasn't enticing. I paid her $80 for a few hundred junk 45's. But this was there and I wasn't sure if it was the bootleg at first or not. I sold this first Elvis Sun 45 for $700 at a record show: https://www.discogs.com/Elvis-Presley-Thats-All-Right-Blue-Moon-Of-Kentucky/release/1204770 I also got this 45 in the collection too. I still have it but it's in my sale box. Rare NOLA funk record: https://www.discogs.com/The-Q-Stop-This-Feeling-Thats-The-Way/release/8772458 Lastly, and what was probably initially my most defeated but ultimately rewarding moment: Stopped by a thrift store one morning after a meeting at work. Come upon the records and see a guy who just had opened a junk shop filling a cart with hundreds of records. I look and it's good jazz. Miles Davis and John Coltrane. But then it was random common shit like Jefferson Airplane in his basket too. I started looking through the stacks and nothing decent is left. "I just scored big time" the guy proclaimed and I grumbled to myself and congratulated him, wishing I didn't have to work a stupid real job that doesn't allow me to show up at thrift stores when they open. But flipping more, I noticed a Coleman Hawkins record that was a first pressing and at one time went for a couple hundred smackers. I thought it was weird the junk store dude didn't grab it. Any jazz collector knows The Hawk Flies High. But then there were other imports and things that were decent just not amazing. I figured the guy just grabbed stuff he recognized, so I kept looking. You know how you see a record and you can just tell it's a thing? Go look through enough records and it's all the same stuff forever and ever. Welp, came across this rare Brazilian jazz LP that I paid $2.12 w/ tax for and I sold it for this. Sent it to Japan with no tracking or anything in 2016 (which was dumb) and everything turned out fine (this was my BIN): https://www.popsike.com/VictorVitor-Assis-Brasil-Desenhos-LP-Forma-FE-1017-STEREO-Brazil-1966-RARE/331956804909.html
  17. Crazy. Looked it up randomly because I haven't been buying that much and was shocked at the price. I bought it when it came out and got it from DD or somewhere for like $240 and ended up selling it a couple years later for $300 so I made $40. Now I wish I'd kept it. LOL.
  18. I hope the mono comes back randomly again. For some reason, it's going for absurd amounts at the moment.
  19. As I've turned 40 recently, and for whatever reason, having more digestive problems now than ever in my life. All I want is a solid 401K and healthy bowel movements. Feels relevant to thread.
  20. Louisiana's numbers today: Here are Thursday's numbers: 101,650 cases 3,574 deaths More than 61,000 presumed recovered 1,585 hospitalized, 197 on ventilators 1,174,868 commercial tests completed and reported to State
