  1. "Burn in" is real, but most of the time people don't use source components that will show any difference, as they are low quality. Granted most of the time its craziness, but with Voice Coils (Speakers, headphones) its quite evident. ATH-M50's are quite nice and do sound better with a few hours on them. At first I found them to be quite bright and harsh, but the bottom end came in within a couple hours and they smoothed out considerably. As far as the pink noise treatment, don't bother, just listen to them, its kinda fun hearing the differences once you replay a very well known to you piece. But if you must burn them in with some noise, just tune in some FM static and leave them for a few hours at low to moderate volume. That will break them in a bit, but don't leave them like that for more than 6 hours and don't leave them to loud, the drives will heat up and you might damage them and get some weird distortion. Enjoy your new headphones!
  2. And 100% less of everyone else.........gah

  4. Just finished listening to mine and love it! No problems with surface noise on mine, and the whole band signed my poster:) Not to brag or anything, but I thought that was awesome!
  5. I wouldn't go that far. It's really just a few small design changes over the old P1 with more colour options. The components on the P3 still stand largely above the RP1, especially the tone arm, which is the most telling component of a turntable as far as I'm concerned. Granted the P3 is more than double the price, though. Also, they haven't discontinued the P3, either. They made a few changes to that one, too, and introduced a wealth of colour options. Ya no-ware near P3 quality! Though it does look like the fixed some of the big problems and qualms that people have with the P1, better platter that wont swell and change so much with the weather, and looks like they redesigned the arm to function better and changed the crappy plastic mounting system it had before. Looks to be and improvement anyhow over the P1
  6. Yours is 1/2 inch, or standard mount. Not a P-mount. Changing a cartridge is not hard, the wires are easy most carts have colour coded sections on each pin to match the right wires to it. If it doesn't then its still easy White = Left + Blue = Left - Red = Right + Green = Right - Tweezers work great for attaching the wires. Next step is cartridge alignment. Go http://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge-alignment-rotractors.shtml and printout a protractor (Stevenson works best for Japanese S-arms.....which you have). They are free there:) Align your cart by sliding it forwards and backwards in the headshell, never twist it or you Alignment will be off and you might get some inner grove distortion. Basicly you want to get it to line up with the grid on both points. Pretty easy, but seems intimidating till you do it! As far as a cartridge I would go with a fairly low compliance cart as your arm has a fairly hi mass. So stay away from lower tracking force carts like the Shure m97xe......plus I find it rather dull and lifeless A really great cart for the money is an Audio Technica AT-95e, which would mate well with your arm and sound great! Its the only sub 100 cart I would even consider. http://www.lpgear.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LG&Product_Code=ATC95E&Category_Code=A3 Lpgear has it there for 49.95 and http://www.needledoctor.com/Audio-Technica-95E-Cartridge?sc=2&category=363 Needledoctor has it there for 49.99. Both are good reliable companies, but I would say Needledoctor is faster at getting the item shipped and much more responsive to emails if there was a problem with the order. Best of luck with your new table!
  7. I would love to see some PAIN on Vinyl:)
