Hi Everyone!
First off I want to apologize for the downtime. We always try our very best over the last 10+ years of our stay with VC to keep the boards updated and running at their best.
We had 2 drives die at the same time in our RAID system. First we had to wait for the server company to change the drives. They didn’t have the exact drives and it took 2 days to get them in. Then we had to wait for the RAID to rebuild across all the drives and then we had to scan and make sure it works without error. This forum has so many threads and data over the years it is a beast when something like this happens.
All in all we are back, no lost data, maybe a few of your cheered VC is dead, but that would happen on my watch 😃 I love all your hate way too much hehe.
@jhulud emailed me within seconds of it being down. He’s got your backs 110%.
I would have posted sooner, but i have had some family issues which has taken a lot of my time lately.

Just wanted to do this off topic post because I know most people will appreciate the heads up and maybe missed it mentioned in a couple of other threads. But yeah, dark theme is live. Scroll to the bottom of any page and find the 'theme' link and click it, profit! Big thanks to @danny for seeing this through. He asked if y'all could click on a few ads to pump a few bucks into board it would be great. No idea if there is a way to donate a few bucks or not.
Go ahead and delete this thread in a few days or now if it's that big of a deal...

Thanks for posting this on its own thread so more folks see it. I'll leave it up for a bit so gets exposure. And hopefully there'll be more ad-clicks to help keep the boards going.

I noticed the thread stats earlier this week. Pretty neat feature.
 
And I don't think I've noticed ads embedded in posts any more so if that was something you did, thank you!

Took down the side ads and added back the centre pop up ad. I am told once you close it once you wont see it will tomorrow. We will see how it works. Thanks for everyones feedback on the testing!

I would like to have most of these new banners only show when you are not logged in as a VC user. I apologize again for the testing. I thought the side banners were better than the centre pop up at the bottom of the site so i wanted to see what the deal was with those. Give me a few more days to test. I think personally if you are a signed up VC member you should see less ads 100%. Then we can keep building the VC community with actual users vs most of the guest accounts. Just a thought.

For the last few days i have been testing a new way to fund the VC server/maintenance costs. A second ad company who pays more than google. Google is horrible for paying what ads are actually worth so we had to look for another revenue stream to pay for the costs to run VC. As you may or may not know, VC is pay for out of pocket by Danny and Jenna. Costs keep rising and google keeps paying less. So we need a solution. Any input would be greatly appreciated. 
 
I was also just told we edit the frequency of the pop up ads so it can be seen 1 time per use and if X'd out it wont show again for another hour. Thoughts? 
 
Hate it or not. What other solutions are out there?  I spoke to @jhulud and we both agree we want your input.
