QUA1L, what media cabinet is that the audio gear is on? Love the look of the room, bud.

I honestly couldnt tell you.  I was roaming the internet trying to find something that seemed sturdy.   Actually stumbled upon this on Craigslist for $50.  I think I had found some decent stuff I had contemplated buying on Wayfair.com.  Just search "audio rack"

    Thanks dude, appreciate it.

Saw The Sword again last night (buddy got me a ticket) and I have to say...while I had a ton of fun hanging out with my dude, I'm done with The Sword live. They're just a fucking southern rock band at this point.

Show was garbage, vocals were all over the place, too many new songs, no stage presence, they played some unrecorded stuff that was just a sloppy mess/not practiced enough to be playing live, opener was awful...just all around a bummer as far as the music went. Crowd was really weird too.

Got the same impression last time I saw them.  They seem to mail it in these days.  JD seems to have changed the vocal delivery on a lot of the older songs, to the point some are almost unrecognizable.

It was basically a show piece, so it was priced at 250 pounds. He said he knew it was high, but they didn't really want to sell it. It was probably from his personal collection and mostly up there to look cool. I wish I had a store like that by me. I remember going to one in SF across the street from Amoeba, but I wasn't buying a bunch of metal at that time. I probably missed out on some cool shit.

I will have to check that place out the next time I'm in London.  Looks killer.

....as for crucial E Wiz albums.  I think the most acclaimed are Dopethrone and Come My Fanatics.  If you ask around though you'd get differing answers from a lot of people.  Personally I love the S/T and Come My Fanatics.  We Live would be my number 3 choice.

dang those white shelves against the dark wall color look sweet... i might have to change mine out!

I spent hours going through this thread along with one on AudioKarma trying to get ideas on how I wanted the room to look.  Super happy with the white shelves and dark wall.  Shelves pop along with the trim.  Currently building a custom coffee table to match.  Once that's done I can order a giant area rug to help with a sound a little bit.

fahhk that is amazing, its like an art gallery. although I7m wondering why you havent got the speakers in the corners of the room?

you'd have to be a bazillionaire to have a space like that here in japan.

Thanks dude.   When I unpacked everything I only had the speaker wire from my last set-up in a much, MUCH smaller room, so they have to go there for now until I buy new wire.  Plus, Im waiting until I have my giant area rug and coffee table done before I start re-arranging stuff again.   The room is an odd shape which doesn't help, not to mention all of the glass from the frames isn't exactly sound friendly either.   It's a work in progress for sure.

You're collection is amazing btw dude.

He's always been good to me. He doesn't like to do it for minor stuff, but he's an understanding dude.

I know he used to keep some back for this kind of stuff, but people were taking huge advantage of it, getting two copies for the price of one and then flipping one of them :/

I'll always be in Steve's corner after he sent me one of his personal copies of the original AW obi after he made a mistake and sent me the wrong thing.

I sent him a picture of how truly fucked the LP was.  Even he was shocked at how warped the C/D LP was (A/B was perfectly fine).  Just bummed that I shelled out $50 for a record I couldn't play and got a lesser replacement.  In the end, I got a replacement, so I shouldn't be too upset, but still...just bummed.  He tried to make it up by throwing in an STB 45 adapter.  So, there is a plus I suppose.  He was definitely nice about the whole thing, so don't think he was rude or anything.  I think he does genuinely care, and some people are cunts and try to take advantage.  Still, all he has to do is ask for a photo to keep people from getting shit they don't deserve. Save a few copies of each version, wait a month to make sure nothing comes up, then release those extra copies if everything arrives to people just fine.  That's what Ripple does.  That's what a lot of labels do.

I've been pleasantly surprised at how well this works. I'll typically sandwich the LP between two pieces of glass and then stack books.

A few days to a few weeks is often enough to get you playing again.

Yup.  I ordered Black Tusk's latest from Relapse.  First copy arrived severely warped.  Sent me a replacement, arrived broken.  Third replacement was also really warped.  Just said fuck it and did the LP sandwiched under books.  After a month it was still slightly warped, but at least listenable.  Figured with the Goya being pretty thick wax, I'd leave it for quite a while.  I have the distro version if I feel the need to spin in the mean time.

Anyone have experience with receiving replacements for damaged items from STB? From what I've gathered, Steve does not seem too keen on that idea and unfortunately the Sinister Haze landed into my lap with a bad scratch on the first track on side B.

It's pretty "meh".  My OBI Goya Obelisk arrived warped.  Unlistenably warped...  although he replaced it for me, it was with the distro version which was like $10 or $15 less than the one I bought.  I've flip flopped around on being upset about it.  I just decided to take what he offered and not make a stink about it.  Really wish he'd save a few copies of each version back like virtually every other label does just for that exact reason.  I have the OBI version under a bunch of heavy books, I'll look at it again come September and see if it's flattened out.

If anyone comes across a leak of that Goya, I'd like to hear it before I order it. I'm a little skeptical of it being a demo record. Could be great, could be meh. I wonder if this record will be a ridiculous price.

Generally Totem Cat's actual record prices are reasonable.  It's the shipping that is fucked.

  10. A little late, but I passed on the Geezer/Boraccho split for the price as well.  $30 for a single LP is steep, let alone a split.  Other labels can put out a 12" split for $20 or less, so I don't understand the $30 price tag.  It's too bad as I like both of those bands, but at some point I have to draw a line and $30 is well over that line.

Stoked for Bongripper's 10th anniversary show in less than two weeks.  Im hoping they have some screen-printed vinyl like the last time I saw them in 2013.  Probably a pipe-dream though.

  11. You can smell these from like a block away. I always figured they hid dead bodies in them.

Yah.  Terrible.  Worst shit of my entire life.  Dropping guts in my pants was a more pleasant experience than using that thing.  Imagine taking a deuce in a sauna, but with the smell of rotting meat so pungent that it could stagger an elephant.  The "art" that was also poorly drawn inside was super awesome too.  Some cartoon chick with massive tits riding what can only be described as the biggest, overly-veiny dick on planet earth.  If only cell-phones had cameras back then, it was snap worthy.  That poop will haunt me until I die.

  12. When you make the conscious decision to shit in a porta-potty on a construction site in the Phoenix summer heat, you know that your lunch was a VERY VERY poor decision.  Never eat from a food truck that looks like it came straight out of 1967.

Just a few months ago I ate some Ghost wings and when they want out, they don't wait.  Shit my pants at home.  I couldn't even make it from the couch to the bathroom before dropping my guts.  I spent the next hour in the bathroom hudled over like I was bracing for impact in a plane crash.  Ghost wings.  Never.  Again.  What was most embarassing was having to tell my wife why I just threw my clothes away and immediately took the trash out.

  13. Superchief record is up at MER and shipping soon now. Two cool colors /100. Went for the splattery. Wasn't into it at first, but dig it now. Vocals remind me a tiny bit of Gary Floyd from Sister Double Happiness and The Dicks.

Cool to see a local band getting some recognition.  Seen them more times than I can count.  Singer is a bit of a goofball, but pretty solid heavy rock music.  Supposed to be meeting up with them sometime to get myself a couple copies of the splatter.

  14. ...still waiting on my STB 7"s. *sigh*

Hochelaga is killer. With the exchange rate against the Euro being so good, even the price directly from Totem Cat wasnt as bad as some American Distro releases. I think it cost me $26 with shipping from France. Are there any on Discogs for decent prices?

Saw Dopethrone at Desertfest and had a few beers with them afterward. Awesome guys. Got them to sign a few LPs

  15. Saw mastodon/clutch/graveyard last night. I have to say, I don't get clutch. From the crowd's reaction, I was in the minority, but I just cannot get into them. Frontman has some campy awkward energy, the rest of the band seemed like the were just going through the motions-I didn't get anything from them. I've Never really paid attention to them but thought maybe the live show would do it, but after their set...I just don't get it. Am I the only one? Graveyard killed it, mastodon killed it- I would've rather seen them both play longer and just skipped clutch.

I might be wrong, but Im geting the vibe you dont get Clutch.

  16. Does anyone here not have Summoner - Atlantian? I'm way down for trades on my bonus copy. Full disclosure, I did open it to see what variant it was. 1/2 blue, 1/2 milky clear with white/grey splatter. Looks really good with the artwork.

I dont have it. Dont really have much to trade though. If you want to just sell it, let me know.
