Got Hollow Sunshine and am really digging it. It's nice when you take a chance on something and it actually turns out to surprise you how good it is. I have failed many times at this game, but in this case it's a win. I will go with Guided By Voices, Built To Spill, The Jesus and Marychain, with a little wooziness of My Bloody Valentine.

I have two copies, one that skips and one that doesn't. It doesn't have anything to do with turntable settings. There are bad copies out there and it sucks that people have to eat it or try to get another copy. I doubt adjusting their anti-skate it going to remedy it.

Yeah, everyone having problems with their records just have their turntables set up incorrectly... Derp.

Right when I read this I knew I was going to get splits and I did. Must remember next time. Damn, this record sounds REALLY good! This is going to spend a lot of time on my table.

The first song, first 5 seconds starts skipping. I haven't even listened to the rest. With this first pressing it is all a crapshoot. My replacement copy looks better than my first okay copy, but it isn't. There are going to be so many shit copies out there in used bins and ebay and people won't know until they spin it. That's why I'm going to destroy this bad copy.

Got my replacement copy today, it is the exact same pressing as the first. I was lucky that my first copy was okay, because this one is trash. I was hoping to hear an even better pressing than the one I had. Oh well, I will smash this defective copy with a hammer so it doesn't create more disappointment in the world.

Went for a pink of Hollow Sunshine. They kinda have a mellow Guided By Voices thing going.

In for another variant. I still don't know how I feel about this album compared to their first. Their first was such a ripper with all those Misfits style background vocals, I'm missing that on the new record. Only listening to the download and looking forward to hearing it on my turntable to fully experience it.

Just got an email back from them: "Hi there, Sorry for the delay! These records are FINALLY scheduled to arrive on 11/13. We'll be boxing and shipping them out ASAP! Best, Phil" I guess when you are Daytrotter in the "final stages" means two more months.

No, I haven't, but I will check it out. My comment was mostly just thinking aloud. I feel like labels are riding this strange wave of soundtrack record buying and milking it for all it's worth. People seem to wet their pants for ANYTHING Mondo puts out. They make it such a collector's item and it doesn't come cheap. I wonder if in 20 years, people will be looking through the Goodwill bins and finding copies of Drive and Poltergeist instead of My Fair Lady or The Rose.

I wonder if 5-10 years from now, there are going to be a lot of people saying, "Why did I spend all that money on so many soundtracks I really don't listen to anymore?" I was excited to get the Poltergeist soundtrack until I listened to it and had to be honest with myself that I wouldn't really listen to it again. Packaging, color, and hype clouded my judgement.
