  1. But it's so cool to be a dick on the internet to a stranger looking for some help!
  2. I literally did this when I was getting my BS in Music Business. I had to "start a company" by writing out a full business proposal with fully fleshed out 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year and 3-5 year plans. I came to VC and asked people to take a survey as well. My paper was just over 80 pages, which was the longest thing I'd ever written, and it wasn't even for a real business. Also, who cares if Discogs "already has this." Just because there was one website to store your documents in the cloud, does that not mean that someone couldn't develop something to do it better? Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud, Box, etc... they're all the same, but different. We all know that you don't just stop creating things because something already exists.
  3. I hate this lull before free agency and the draft. It's literally the only time of the year where there's nothing to talk about. At least there's speculation after the draft and excitement heading into training camp and OTAs. At this point, we just wait.
  4. I would love to do a BHBE run of 100 records, but I'd have to do a stripped down version... Probably one of the Gotta Groove DIY packages. Originally, Chris, Daniel and I were going to put this out but it sorta died when Barsuk picked up American Soft and they asked us not to release it right away to give American Soft another bump. If we did a Kickstarter and it was fully funded to cover the cost of the production, I would do it in a heartbeat. Not interested in making any money on the project, just want to find 100 hardcore fans who also want it and will split the per unit cost evenly between everyone. 100 records at $1350 (not including stamping the center labels, shipping from the factory, shipping from me to you). Media mail alone would be $400. Shipping from the plant would (total guess) $150. Plus getting a handmade stamp for the A/B sides of the labels. I think it'd be right around $2,000 total. So $20 per unit? Does all of that math seem right to everyone?
  5. Totally on board with this and it's something I want to dive into as this grows. I've been pushing to do music stuff for awhile now because of the way music and sports intersect with each other. Glad others see the value in too. Now I just need people to pay attention to it so it doesn't become one of those "great ideas" that gets swept under the rug because it wasn't received as well as everyone hoped.
  6. Joywave is coming through ESPN on Thursday. I'll be sitting down with them for a 20ish minutes for a podcast. Any burning questions you guys want answered, get them to me before Thursday!
  7. I handle all vinyl for pressings BadChristian. I started out as their podcast producer since that's what I do for a living, but it became too much with my actual job. Nick Bunda produces the podcast now and I work with Matt McDonald (The Classic Crime / Vocal Few) and all of the bands who release albums on the label to make sure their pressings don't suck. So, if you've hated any of the pressings we've done from a tangible product perspective I'd love to know why. Constructive criticism is always appreciated. Hopefully though, you've liked the variant and jacket choices we've made.
  8. We looked at doing a 2xLP or switching up the track list to make it fit. In the end we thought a single LP w/ a new track list was a better option. I stressed that a 2xLP would be ideal and we compromised and said if the test presses didn't do the album justice than we'd switch it over. In the end we were really pleased with how it sounded so we stuck with it. I promise you guys won't be disappointed. Plus, it's awesome to start out Side B with Thrash.
  9. Side A Rock, Pebble, Stone The Beginning The Less You Say To The Deep Taken For A Bath Pink Slip Side B Thrash Hard Times What's Stopping You Go Wrong Young Man Salvatore Wryhta Alone
  10. Has anybody else not gotten a response yet on moving / order issues? Shoot me a PM if you've moved and HAVEN'T heard back from us.
  11. These records are arriving Mid-July, so they'll be shipping out shortly after that. None of the orders that have shipped include the vinyl. It's still in production. There were some issues with getting the artwork squared away because the "standard joe" is a single pocket jacket and the "deluxe" package is a gatefold. That pushed everything back while we figured the gatefold and the variants. I have the test presses and I promise you won't be disappointed. They sound amazing. We had to switch up the track order thought to make it all fit correctly without having an issues.
  12. **UPDATED w/ JOYWAVE** I had the privilege of bringing David Bazan through ESPN last week. Did a podcast with him and Yuuki Matthews (The Shings, Sufjan Stevens) about the Headphones tour, what it was like to record the Bazan Monthly albums and what's on the horizon for Bazan. Also shot an in-studio video of him playing acoustic versions of Nobody's Perfect, Little Landslides and Animals. This version of Little Landslides is absolutely gorgeous... instantly become a favorite of mine. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbyl7VZSRpU Podcast: http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=13058343 ----------- Sat down with Joywave yesterday. Super nice dudes. Talked about their album, how rad it was to hear their music played during the NHL Western Conference Finals, why they've all become Cleveland Browns fans and a whole bunch more. Podcast: http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=13108998
  13. Some of these caught me by surprise. Some of these didn't come out as good as I hoped. I love Bazan more than most people... he's my favorite artist of all-time. I ordered this but I'm not as pleased as I want to be. I really think this could've been put together a little better. This seems to be recorded live in the same room. I wish they would've tracked it more traditionally, but that's just my opinion. Second Best, The Poison, In Stitches and Secret of the Easy Yoke would've been fantastic for this.
  14. Updated the original post to include all the stuff with did with the guys when they came through last week. I'd love to know what you guys think!
  15. As Cities Burn - Wake Dead Man, Wake Love, what is love without trust
At my word would you bring your Isaac

Son, I loved you at your darkest Pedro The Lion - Criticism As Inspiration Then there's your girlfriend, she opens her legs and gives your life meaning. Is that what you love her for? Death Cab For Cutie - Someday You Will Be Loved You may feel alone when you're falling asleep
And everytime tears roll down your cheeks
But I know your heart belongs to someone you've yet to meet
Someday you will be loved Twothirtyeight - You Made A Way For Moses It's two o’clock now, I'm tired and I should be off to bed.
Monday flew by, where were you?
In my heart and not my head
Turn on the TV or the radio
But there's nothing for me there
Maybe if I saught you or I thought of you
Then I wouldn't feel this way.
Jesus you made a way for Moses
Can you make a way for me now?
Jesus you made a way for Moses
Don't you remember when I was younger
 What you use to say
What you love and cherish deeply
Will turn and kill you someday
Although I'm dying like a martyr
It's to my flesh and not to you
But I've come to seek forgiveness
A thing that only you can do
Jesus you made a way for Moses
Can you make one for me now?
Jesus you made a way for Moses...
  16. Just a fun side-note, two members of the band Manchester Orchestra (Timothy Very on drums and Andy Prince on bass) played on this album. Both played on Grand Coulee Band and Needle Park. Now you know... and knowing is half the battle.
  17. The chat is confirmed for 2:30pm ET. Should be a lot of fun! http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chats Also, as much as I want to hate Ry Bowl for his question, I can't deny how clever it was... Gotta recognize.
  18. UPDATE!! Manchester rolled through last week and played a few songs for us in The Herd studio. Plus, I sat down with them for a quick interview to talk about tour and their love for the NBA. This is the first time we've done anything like this so I'd love any kind of constructive feedback on what you like / how to make it better for next time. Manchester Orchestra - Top Notch & Cope (ESPN Acoustic Sessions) Manchester Orchestra - Interview Manchester Orchestra - SportsNation Chat END UPDATE!! Hello VC friends! On Wednesday I'm bringing Manchester Orchestra through ESPN and I've got a few things planned that I wanted to let everyone know about. We're going to shoot a quick video of them playing a few songs and I'll make sure to pass along the link as soon as we get that up on the site. The reason for this thread is because we're having them do a SportsNation chat and I was hoping to generate some interest for the guys. It's looking like the chat will be at 2:30pm ET (though that's tentative) and you'll be able to talk to the guys about pretty much anything. It'll be moderated so you'll have to keep it clean (nothing NSFW), but it should be a ton of fun. If you can't make the chat but you still have a question that you're wanting to ask them, send it along as a reply and I'll do my best to take a few of the questions and ask them in the interview I'll be doing with them as well. Obviously my bosses are looking for sports questions, but send along anything you'd like and we'll see what we can do. My goal is to start making this a "thing" when I know bands are coming through the New York / Boston area and I'm stoked Manchester was kind enough to let me borrow them for their day off. Hopefully this one goes well and that'll help convince the higher ups that this is something worth doing on a semi-regular basis. As soon as I have a definitive time for the chat I'll let you guys know so you can try and make it. Thanks for any and all help in trying to make this trial run with "ESPN the Music" a successful one!
  19. I wish I could un-see that picture... Ugh... So sorry about your luck dude! I know how much that sucks. Also, I'm a little concerned because your feet look pretty hair free and my feet do not look like that. Am I a hobbit? Does everyone's feet look like this?
  20. If you guys are thinking about expanding from 10 teams to 12 teams, I'd like to put my name in the hat as a potential owner. I've played in multiple leagues across multiple different platforms with multiple scoring formats. No worries if you already have two owners pegged for the open spots. Just wanted to express interest!
  21. Firefly. Firefly. Firefly. Hugely underrated. I love the characters in that show... they're like my family. Pretty much everything Joss Whedon does is fantastic in my opinion.
  22. Come on Casey... We all know you have it recorded some where.
