  1. College Dropout doesn't include the skits? Damn, that makes me want to buy it. If there's one thing that discourages me from listening to rap albums, it's the cheesy ass skits. I never understood how they became popular.
  2. White is Urban Outfitters exclusive. Sold out online but if you have a store in your area it may be worth checking out.
  3. Thank for the info, oojavaguru. That one will be at the top of my list.
  4. Anyone know anything about the Nick Cave & Warren Ellis "West Of Memphis" release? They already released this last year, but it's not a single LP and certainly not something I would list as a Nick Cave release. I haven't seen the film myself, but I'm hoping it used more original Cave/Ellis compositions in it that may represented on this release. Early leaks were making this set of releases look pretty weak, but there are a handful of things that I plan on picking up now. The Pogues with Joe Strummer, Spacemen 3, Phosphorescent, Space Project, Tim Timebomb, Mazzy Star and the aforementioned Nick Cave & Warren Ellis are all things I will likely pick up. Perhaps the Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, J. Spaceman/Kid Millions, Velvet Underground and Bardo Pond releases depending on price/content/availability.
  5. I'm interested for Coil's involvement (not a huge NIN fan), but likely won't bother buying what is essentially a bootleg and is likely sourced from the same MP3s that currently reside on my computers hard drive.
  6. Picked up Kurt Vile, Body/Head and Chelsea Light Moving. Already own Savages, which is fucking amazing. Thanks for the heads up!
  7. Ordered a few records. Two of them only listed 1 being in stock and I will be stoked if they ship as they are not easy to find. The other 3 I overlooked from the last sale and was happy to have an excuse to order them.
  8. I'm always impressed by the choice of songs in this show. They're always great tracks that fit the moment well.
  9. Thanks for the info. I had a feeling that was the case, but it's good to know for sure. And yeah, it is a fantastic record.
  10. Got my order of 14 records today. I ordered shortly before this sale hit the various forums, which may have helped in my getting everything I ordered. The records were well packaged, too. Oddly enough, my copy of Sybille Baier's Colour Green was not sealed, though I suppose it's not unlikely that the small indie label that released it doesn't seal their records.
  11. Her last couple releases were great. Looking forward to hearing this one as well. I missed her last time she visited California, so Ill definitely be catching her this time around. Looks like theres a "deluxe bundle" up for preorder but no description is given on SC's site. Anyone heard anything about it? Edit: Figured it out
  12. A lot of people have had hit-and-miss experiences with gohastings.com. The orders are fulfilled through their retail stores, so whether or not a record is packaged properly is up to a retail employee that likely makes minimum wage, though my understanding is their employees are instructed to use proper LP mailers (which my orders almost always arrive in). There is also some confusion in regards to sending out CDs vs. vinyl, though usually with used items. That being said, I have ordered somewhere around 20 records from them, including one that arrived last week. Once or twice they arrived in a large box, and once they sent me a CD. Their customer service was very helpful in processing a return & refund for the CD. The records sent in a large box were not damaged, so I did not bother returning them. I do not hesitate to order from them if they have something hard to find or at a good price.
  13. For those looking at the Grinch soundtrack, I have noticed this while browsing gohastings.com: http://www.gohastings.com/product/POPMUSIC/Hastings-Exclusive-How-the-Grinch-Stole-Christmas-LP-Green/sku/286422823.uts Looks like its probably this pressing: http://www.discogs.com/release/4073278
  14. I saw copies of the Transplants recent album In A Warzone at a Hot Topic that had the same "clear" sticker attached to the front that the Operation Ivy records had. I have not seen a clear variant sold anywhere else at retail (have seen it on eBay though). I did not buy a copy so I cannot confirm that it actually was clear vinyl.
  15. I've been looking for it as well but have not had any luck. Heard about it when some record store in Louisville tweeted that Will walked into their shop and dropped off a few copies on LP and cassette. They were then flooded with emails requesting copies and, obviously, sold out. It's interesting to see that he's released a full-length on his own without Drag City. I wonder if they'll end up helping distribute it. I really wish his tour was coming to California! Especially since he's got Mount Eerie in tow for his Oregon and Washington dates.
  16. Wow, Newbury is listing ten at a time and raising the price with each listing. Price gouging on an exclusive release is pretty bad form.
  17. I don't have the means to take glamour shots for you, but here are a few quick smartphone pics if you're just interested in seeing what it looks like. Red vinyl is /1000, though there is also a blue vinyl pressing /500 distributed by Cargo in Germany
  18. This song is a perfect example of why reunited bands should stick to touring and stay out of the studio.
  19. Reports were that people starting lining up at 2:30am last year. Amoeba is an absolute nightmare on RSD. Visiting one of the smaller shops in LA seems preferable not only to support someone who probably doesn't bring in as much profit throughout the year but also for a more pleasant shopping experience.
  20. There are 3 Coachella exclusive records this year. Puscifer's "V Is For Vagina" on red vinyl with hand-silkscreen cover ($40), Portugal. The Man's "Church Mouth" on bone colored vinyl ($25, same tracklist as the 2011 reissue) and Rodriguez's "Cold Fact" on clear vinyl. All 3 are individually hand-numbered and limited to 500 copies. I am not sure of the price for the Rodriguez album as the weekend 1 allotment of 250 copies sold out relatively quickly, but it was likely the same price as the PTM album.
  21. Title track is available as a free download on their website http://thetransplants.com/new-transplants-music-in-a-warzone-free-download/ The hip-hop influence they're known for is mostly absent. This one is more straightforward punk.
  22. I hadn't heard about the Low/Dirty Three record. Are we sure it's a 7" and not a repress of the 12"? They just going to pull a couple tracks from the EP? I hope I can track it down either way, though I'd prefer if it was the full record. DIdn't know about the Josephine Foster reissue either. Hope I can track that down, too. Add the Spacemen 3 LPs and that makes up my must-haves. Probably be picking up the Porno For Pyros, Mercury Rev and Daniel Johnston LPs as well.
  23. Beach House at least is on a single LP. I assumed that Teen Dream included the DVD in addition the 2 LPs and the CD, but taking a closer look it doesn't make mention of a CD or DVD. Even if included them, the £12 jump from Devotion to Teen Dream is pretty steep. There's no point for anyone in North America to order the Bella Union issue of Teen Dream. It's not on colored vinyl and Sub Pop still distributes it here in the States for $18.
  24. I'd love to own these, but I already have Beach House and Devotion on vinyl and don't care to spend like $30+ each just for a colored pressing of something I already have. And why doesn't Teen Dream get the colored treatment? Not that I'd even consider $60+ dollars to get it. Fucking YES. Especially when the higher prices are coming from major labels and larger indies who have more resources and are shipping more copies while smaller operations manage to sell their records for half the price.
