This is a little late, but- A FUCKING IPAD?!?! Seriously?

I thought I did pretty alright with my Secret Santa, and I added a couple of sentimental things, so overall- I hope he/she isn't disappointed.

I received mine yesterday, but, like last year, I refuse to open it until Christmas week.

    Side note:
I'm not sure if anyone has gotten all sappy about the whole SS thing in a bit, but I was talking to the lady last week while putting things into a box and she asked "what the hell are you doing?".  To which I replied, "Secret Santa, of course."
She thought this community was the coolest, most amazing thing in the world.  I told her about how all kinds of people (who have only had a number of online conversations, come together for so much stuff (conversation, opinion, etc), and instead of her thinking I was a giant nerd, she thought it was just so awesome.

    Dear Vinyl Collective Board,
I truly love you all.  You are better than the bees knees and the cats pajamas.

I posted in the Recently Viewings thread about my thoughts on Green Room:. So far, it may be my movie of the year.  I loved both Mrder Party and Blue Ruin, so I had high hopes and it definitely delivered.  Every single part of the cast was phenomenal, especially Patrick Stewat (which is to be expected); the soundtrack brought up the edginess in the viewing and the script was phenomenal. 9-9.5/10.
Tonight I watched The Invitation and it was also a fantastic watch.  If you dig slow burns like Red State or The Sacrament, you should definitely put this on your watch list; solid 8/10.

After being such a huge fan of both Murder Party and Blue Ruin, I finally got around to watchin Green Room.  Nearly perfect, I would give this 9-9.5/10.  The cast, dynamic, pop culture references; everything about this film was incredible.

I thought the new song was great. Regarding the difference in vocals, Mark is doing the bulk of the vocals in the track; whereas Skiba is merely harmonizing in the chorus, which I could pick out. About the grown ups writing about being 17, I don't have any issue with this. I'm 32 and I still occasionally throw in a line about adolescence into a song here and there. It's a really important coming of age time in life and it's easy to look back at how easy things were then versus being a grown ass man. I'm pretty stoked on a new Blink record.

I really like that poster of the kitty cat that says, "hang in there." It's really uplifting; you have a bad day and you just look at that poster hanging over your air mattress and you think, "I will hang in there kitty, I will hang in there." I don't know if it's a VC exclusive poster, but I bought mine at the Stafford Elementary book fair and they didn't ask what forums I'm part of, so I'm sure any of you guys could probably go get one too.

I have zero interest in seeing them sans Ward; considering he was a fundamental songwriter/vocalist for the band.  At this point, it just seems like they're pulling the whole classic rock band playing a greatest hits set to make an easy paycheck.  No thanks.

I remember Chasing Victory, good guys.  Fun fact: I starred in the first cut of the video for "The Night Your Guardian Fell Asleep," but their label didn't dig it, so that version got shelved; bummer.  My ex wife's kid photo is the photograph that the father digs up around the end of the video though.  Those dudes were rad, for sure.

So, I never u set stood the whole Springsteen comparison regarding Gaslight. Sure, they play four chord rock n' roll and Brian has a gruff voice, but there weren't a whole lot of similarities outside of geography. However, this tune has got Springsteen all over it and I love it.

Who gives a shit?  At least people are getting into something outside of single MP3 tracks found via mass radio and iTunes.  Stop being elitist for two seconds and remember that for every Clash song you can name, you can name ten times as many pop-punk songs that allowed you to discover them.  Remember that you guys didn't always love Brand New.  If people want to buy low tier record players, let them buy low tier record players.
Don't be that kid in the "cool" band that looks down on the kid playing a Squier guitar.

Opened mine two nights ago but haven't had a chance to post mine.

I'm stoked that my Secret Santa sent me some new tunes I haven't heard of.  The tunes:
-Kishi Bashi- Lighght; so stoked on this because my gal has been mentioning how badly she needs new music and she absolutely loves this record.
-White Lung- Sorry; I had a chance to check these guys out and I'm really digging the aggressive, female fronted punk rock.
    - The Fuse!- The Fisherman's Wife; this looks interesting and my SS described it as punk I would dig on
    - Foundation- Chimborazo; I've heard about this in the past and I love Ann Beretta so I'm really looking forward to this one.

Also included, some neat stickers and a Batmanga, which I've never heard of, but I love all things Batman.

I'm so stoked about how personalized my SS made this package and I'm always excited to hear new tunes.  It looks as though my SS is from the Seattle area; but, I couldn't find anyone here that it could be.  So to whomever my SS is- thank you so so much, I truly appreciate it!
