So, I recently bought an old Telefunken s600 hifi. I have not yet received it, and it is an object in need of some reparation. Main thing is that the tone arm, Ortofon As-212 (which seem highly popular by the way?) needs fixing since the bearing housing has been damaged (they seem to become brittle over time). I thought that maybe I would post a thread here with pictures etc. when I am trying to repair this unit, probably mostly for myself to be able to go back and look at pictures, but maybe someone else (now or in the future) would interested in seeing that too. I will update as I get the product which is being sent by mail.

Im getting interested in record players and dont have alot of cash. Someone offered me a optimus system 700 model number 13-1248. I know some of these end up needing new needles and belts but can i still get them for this model? Is this worth $25? Can it be upgraded?

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to sell my RP3 (white) w/ Rega Exact cartridge. The table is two and a half years old, with the cartridge being about two years old. It should go unsaid, but I'll go ahead and say that everything works in flawless condition, and the cartridge is set up quite accurately. You would only have to pull the table out and set the counterweight and you're good to go with an incredible table. $650 (plus shipping) and it's yours.

I have never owned any record player before, but I've always wanted one. I've been reading up the last few days but, not being an audiophile in the slightest, I'm confused by all the terms. After reading some reviews the Pro-Ject Essential II or Pro-Ject Debut III seems like a great entry level turntable. But what else would I need with this turntable? I'm really confused about pre-amps, receivers, phono, etc. especially after researching it and reading up on it. So what exactly would I need to complete my first set up? Any help world be greatly appreciated, I was advised to visit this forum and it's my first post here. PS: My budget is of $500!

I've got a bunch of old audio equipment that I'm blowing out at The Hobo Store in Port Dover. Most things are around $10 or whatever I can get. We are open till 8 monday to thurday and 6 friday saturday sunday.

My local shop has a Yamaha PX-3 in stock that is positively drool-worthy. Anyone have any experience with linear tracking turntables?
