  3. Second pressing - transparent yellow /500 on Clay Pipe Music. The Hardy Tree is the musical project of Clay Pipe Music's founder Frances Castle, her first LP ' The Fields Lie Sleeping Underneath' was the initial release on the label over five years ago. Through Passages of Time soundtracks buildings and areas of London that no longer exist. Small places stumbled upon by accident, traced on maps, and illustrated in Georgian prints. Frequently visited pubs that have been rebuilt and renamed, the ship breakers yard decorated with wooden figureheads at Baltic Wharf, or the Thames Watermen living in the shadow of the Hawksmoor designed church at Horselydown. Lost places re-imagined and brought to life using clusters of sequenced Moogs, off Kilter electronics, vibes, and Mellotron - capturing the essence of the dark city and its more bucolic outer suburbs. This is a plaint to an older stranger London that is quickly becoming priced out and forgotten. Look carefully and clues to the ancient past can still be found.
  4. This has been out for a couple of weeks now, and I'm a little sad there's been no mention. Tied with the xx for best album so far. Beautiful sparse folk with gorgeous arrangements. A little bit Cat Power, a little bit Sam Amidon, some Vashti Bunyan. Listen to Natural Blue and you'll be hooked:

  8. From June 7-10, Records will be only $1 (plus shipping) with code vcfriends!!!!!! Hey everyone! I made a record! I am really proud to share the preorder on vinyl and tape of my upcoming album, In The Violet Hours, which will be released digitally and on cassette on December 1, and on vinyl in April. Both cassette and vinyl are limited to 100 copies each, and I'm making the prices really really low to entice folks to pick up copies. Records are $5 plus shipping (about $7 to anywhere in the world, which is about as cheap as it gets from Canada). Tapes are $1 shipped). Listen to the whole album for free! PM me if you want a download code - I have lots! In The Violet Hours contains 11 original songs about love, grammar, and oral hygiene, written between 2002 and 2015. The album was recorded predominantly in the nook adjacent to my kitchen, in short intervals while my toddler slept. I played every instrument except for violin, and sang all songs, with some help from my wife and friends. I was heavily influenced by many of my musical heroes, including Paul Westerberg, Hayden, Elvis Costello, Mark Kozelek, and Ryan Adams. The album came to fruition to exist on vinyl through a surprise 30th birthday gift last year, where my friends basically crowdfunded the money to put my music on wax (!). While entirely home-recorded, the album was professionally mastered at the Lacquer Channel in Toronto. Update March 18: still waiting on vinyl. Hopefully early April. But as of now, my album is streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Tidal, etc. Give it a listen! April 10 Update: Records have finally landed after close to 8 months. Shipping now. $5 + shipping, and come with a free cassette copy.

  12. A very first pressing of Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" album. Has a "Sample - not for commercial sale." promo-sticker, indicating this was a promo record. Quite a rare little Nick Drake find and an even rarer addition to your collection. Matrix numbers are, as is to be expected for a 1st press, "ILPS 9184 A-1U" and "ILPS 9184 B-1U". Record would be NM by most people's standards, but just to be careful I graded it EX. Sleeve is in pretty good condition, had it not been for the little white patch where somebody carelessly ripped off what I presume was a price sticker. As such, I chose to grade it VG. Item ships from The Netherlands with insurance and will be packaged meticulously to avoid any and every possible damage to the record. For questions about shipping costs to your specific country, contact me. US shipping would be $30. Album containing pictures of the record can be found here: Price I'm asking is $600, seeing as Drake's first pressings of Pink Moon regularly go for $300 in the VG to VG+ range. In contrast, this is a NM record, and is also a promo. However, the price isn't fixed and could in theory be discussed if you're truly interested. Feedback is always welcome.
  13. Have you ever wondered what Reel Big Fish's Sell Out would sound like as a 70s-style California folk rock song? No? What about the Pietasters' Higher as if it were from a Muppet movie? Really? Not even a bit curious? What about a Slackers song as a quiet folk ballad? Or a Mad Caddies song in the style of a Neil Young jam? Well if you were even vaguely curious about any of the above, you're in luck. I've just released and shared my newest album, Third Wave Mixtape to the unsuspecting public. Nine covers of ska and ska punk songs from the late 90s, an era when most high school band horn players could somehow find themselves on national television, and skanking was an acceptable dance move. The album was entirely recorded and performed by me over the last three months and is available to stream and download for free via Bandcamp: Tracklisting: 1. Sell Out (Reel Big Fish) 2. Higher (The Pietasters) 3. Rules of the Game (The Hotknives) 4. Redlight (The Slackers) 5. Far Behind (The Hippos) 6. All My Best Friends Are Metalheads (Less Than Jake) 7. Nude Beach (The Scofflaws) 8. A Year Of This (The Undercovers) 9. The Bell Tower (The Mad Caddies)
  14. Hello...I would LOVE some info on this particular Rinx Record. I'm an avid record collector and haven't seen this one before. I emailed the label and they provided the below info... any other info would be greatly appreciated. Collectible? valuable? Pictures below: It is record #240 from the label. Side 240-A ST. LOUIS BLUES (Handy) 92 Blues Organist: Fred Bergin (ASCAP) Side 240-B BASIN STREET BLUES n(Williams) 92 Blues Organist: Lee White (ASCAP) (If the label that you have reads Fred Bergin Organist it is a printing error) The two songs were recorded 1955, only 3 copies left. Fred Bergin was the founder of Rinx Records which he started in 1950 out of Denver Colorado. During the 1950’s & 60’s he hired various organists to record for him. Lee White is a lady organist.

Daniel Field - In The Violet Hours RIYL: Ryan Adams, New Pornographers, Red House Painters, Hayden, Foxes In Fiction, Owen Pallett, Elvis Costello, etc. Cassettes $1 USD anywhere in the world, no additional shipping. 23. Happy 4th of July, everyone! While this isn't technically a "holiday" is a wicked awesome sale that just happens to start on a holiday. Here's the deal: I've recently moved into a new place that is a fraction of the size of any place I've ever lived in. On top of that, we are working on several awesome releases for the coming months and at least two of them are double LPs. What does this mean? IT MEANS THAT UNLESS I GET RID OF SOME RECORDS, I WILL BE SLEEPING ON THEM! Make my accountant shudder at the sheer loss in profits on some killer releases that we have for sale right now: Included items are: * All of our t-shirts (WIFE, Our Lady) * Our Lady "II" 12" * Our Lady "Vessels" 7" * Our Lady/estates Split 7" * husband&wife "Dark Dark Woods" LP+CD * Empires "Freshwater Reflection" LP * Billy Wallace & The Virginia Blues "Tucumcari..." LP * Greenland Is Melting "Still Not Dead" 7" ...and more! ALL ONLY $3 EACH!!! WHAAAAAT?! Also, we have some great new distro titles that I've added in, including: * ISIS "In The Absence Of Truth" (Clear/Red variant) * ISIS "Oceanic" * estates "Gleam" (debut vinyl LP, now OOP!) Come one, come all. Please help me make some space!
  24. hi i hope you don't mind me posting about a special 7" singles club i've been running for three and a half years now (it's due to run for seven) called wiaiwya-7777777 specifically, the latest release is an exclusive collaboration between Woodpigeon and Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub, Boy Hairdressers, Jonny): wiaiwya-7777777 is a seven inch singles club – a very ambitious seven inch singles club. “there’s this sadness when you can’t find it on vinyl, because it’s like it’s not proper” - Pete Paphides Now in its fourth year (of seven), it is a celebration of the seven inch format, as well as all things seven. 210 lucky subscribers sign up, and get seven exclusive 45s in the post. The records are always released on the 7th of the month (one on each day of the week), and 77 days before release date just 77 copies are made available to purchase individually. “The 45rpm single, the hard, black centrepiece of the teenage revolution” – Bob Stanley For 2015 we have asked some of our favourite bands and artists to collaborate on a one off single, to try something a little different, and to prove the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. These are then being pressed onto 2 colour vinyl discs, and inserted into numbered reverse board sleeves. And, as 2015 is the first year there will be seven Star Wars films, it would be foolish not to stand their titles into the run out grooves. there's more info about subscribing here thanks John
