Following up on the red vinyl reissue of Unknown Pleasures from earlier this year, there's a couple of really nice looking box sets just announced by Rhino. (I almost posted this into the existing thread for that release but since these new sets span way more than just Joy Division I figured they merit their own post.) First is Factory Communications: 1978-92, available for the first time on vinyl, with silver vinyl exclusive to the Rhino UK shop. Not that these are super necessary, but Joy Division's four "albums" Unknown Pleasures, Closer, Substance, and Still are being reissued this summer. Substance/ Still (which are essentially comps) will be reissued on 2LP 180g black and the other two records will be single as always. I normally wouldn't start a thread for something so regularly accessible, but I've yet to find a reasonably priced, decent copy of Still or Substance. There are plenty out there, but most of them are beat to shit. Sill- ~$41 Substance, Closer, UP- ~$22 Still haven't figured out why Still is double the price (when Substance is also a 2LP), but whatever. I recently purchased the 2007 reissue of Unknown Pleasures, and ran into a problem with "She's Lost Control" on the second side (Side B/Inside). When I started the song, it played the first ten seconds or so, then skipped several times. It got to more than halfway through the song, and then it just played normally. I cleaned the record when I bought it, I listened to that song a few times to see if it would stop, I re-calibrated my anti-skate/tonearm balance settings, listened to different records flawlessly, and I don't know what the issue seems to be stemming from. Is this a problem that anyone else has run into? I haven't found it anywhere else (though admittedly I didn't do a very thorough search). Did I just get a bad copy, perhaps? Should I contact someone about this?

What's up everyone? I need some help with a Joy Division record I recently purchased. I picked up a used copy of the 12" single version of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" from a local record store and hit the web to find pressing info to see if I scored an original. Well I've found mixed results and now I'm not sure if it's an original or a repress. http://blog.factoryrecords.org/1980/06/fac-23-joy-division-love-will-tear-us.html : If I'm reading the info on this site correctly, then I believe I have an original. My copy is in the thinner sleeve with a semi-glossy finish. It has the correct songs, and what appears to be the correct labeling (song info, dates, etc.), but another site has me worried... http://www.joydiv.org/lwtua12.htm : According to this site I have a repress 'cos my copy doesn't say "SPECTACLE IS A RITUAL / PURE SPIRIT" on the run off grooves. My run off grooves are blank, but factoryrecords.org site has no mention of the run off groove text. I saw on discogs.com that there were various represses made in the early to mid 80s but discogs makes no mention of the run off groove text on the original press either. I feel like I've done all the research but the conflicting info from the two links worries me. Or maybe I'm just not seeing something right in front of me that is the clear cut answer. Anyone have any answers, help, info, etc.? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time! - Zach
