:: PRE-ORDER :: KAVRILA "Mor" LP/CD (NAR083) KAVRILA from Hamburg/Germany are back with a new record. A diary of loss. Back and forth between memories, presence, and the struggle within. A cathartic process. Introversive. Abrasive. Fragile. Not supposed to comfort you. Not supposed to give you answers. For their sophomore album Kavrila decided to take a different approach to recording Mor compared to their previous album, and EPs. A two day live recording session with producer, and engineer Timo Höcke at his Wellenschmiede Studio in Hamburg, Germany. Apart from a few overdubs everything else was composed and recorded in the studio. During the creative process of “Mor” a decision was made to give the music the right amount of time needed, so it could resonate better to Alex‘s vocals, and his approach to the lyrics. The passing of his mother, and the process of coping became the main theme of the whole album. This wasn’t planned beforehand, but ended up being the result of the natural progression of the music, and the conversations within the band. All lyrics were written by Alex except the last song “Retribution” which was written by Daniel(Bass). The band chose “Retribution” as the last song of the album because they felt the lyrics gave the album as a whole a sense of closure. The meaning behind “Retribution” is that time heals, one needs to be patient, and not give up hope, cause even in the darkest of times you can always find a speck of light. SCHÖNESENDE - s/t LP (NAR 060) SCHÖNESENDE is the solo project of Matthew Bunkell, known for his work with LIGHT BEARER and MOMENTUM. With the exception of Jack Riddleston’s vocals on the song »Rise, Moloch«, spoken words by Joanne and Gary Bunkell and a the voice of postman-turned-poet Charles Bukowski and others, Matthew has written and recorded his debut album »Schönesende« all by himself. The endeavour, started in 2012, marks Matthew’s exploration of philosophical as well as psychological themes. Over the course of almost 70 minutes, »Schönesende« does not only musically explore different facets of Black Metal, Folk and abstract experimental music, but also immerses its listeners in a multi-disciplinary philosophical discourse revolving around questions about the human condition. Matthew, who in the near future intends to publish a collection of short stories and a novel which tie into the themes of the Schönesende project, cites authors such as Ernest Becker, Allen Ginsberg, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, John Fante and Bukowski as influences for his art. Becker’s work – in which the cultural anthropologist postulates that the denial of one’s death or mortality is a driving force for human behaviour of all types – resonated so profoundly with Matthew that he decided to explore this topic further with Schönesende. ::PRE-ORDER:: COLARIS nexus 2xLP (NAR063) Colaris is an instrumental band from Pirmasens/Germany The bands sound can be described as a blend of heavy, driving and melodious parts, as long as some intricate and also catchy passages. Comparisons to well known bands of the genre are up to the listener, all band members have various influences, which makes it hard to reduce it on some names. Three years and two releases after „Renewal“, Colaris escape into this place far beyond reality, but do not forget about the darkness and misery of the real world. Shelter, consolation or escape – the personal Nexus exists in many forms, but Colaris evoke their own Nexus, a record which songs are the result of many ups and downs in the last two years of the bands existence. The music absorbs and surrounds the listener until the Nexus finally explodes and burns out with the closing „Harvest (Nexus pt.2). Recorded at the Rama Studios Mannheim (Ahab, The Tidal Sleep and more), Nexus comes with a natural and rough sound, the gloomy artwork is done by Luca Solomacello (www.solomacello.it).
