  1. I tried searching for a thread for this and could not find one. What have you all been listening to? What are some cant miss bands that we should all know about? What new releases or lesser known stuff should we know about? Been listening to the newest Windhand record which I have been digging. Neon Warships S/T record has been pretty killer. Kadavar's new record has awesome jams on it, though not strictly stoner or doom per se. Locally in Pittsburgh there has been a band that has been buzzing a lot and putting out some great stuff. You can check out their demo on band camp for free. http://lostrealms.bandcamp.com/
  2. Hi. I'm in need of some quick cash. I sold some stuff from my collection just over a year ago when I needed a new car and when I got enough cash, I stopped the sale because I like my records. It'll be the same thing this time. I don't need a whole lot, so this might not last long. About me: I've been buying records since 1998 and selling online since 2006. I know how to ship a record and have plenty of mailers. But please make orders at least $20. Any questions, send me a message. I'm more than fair but will expect offers to be "in the ballpark" of their current going rate. (Bone/Orange Mix Vinyl) Revolver USA/Midheaven (Clear/Green Vinyl) Tee Pee Records (Rainbow Splatter) Tracklist: 1. Sanctuary [11:13] 2. The Falling Veil [11:12] 3. Staving Off Truth [10:18] 4. Blind [13:23] 5. Sonntag [8:39] 6. Thousand Hands [9:36] Band members and friends Nick DiSalvo, Jack Donovan and Matt Couto already dismissed any last remains of stoner metal stereotypes on "Lore" (2015). Their current album, which was written following the long and acclaimed Lore tour in moments ofintense creativity, is a journey into prog rock and psychedelic worlds. Six monumental songs, huge in sound, each of them their own cosmic expedition. What begins as driving mid-tempo rock filled with heavy guitar riffs repeatedly erupts into melodic tangents and clever variations. The high demands that DiSalvo places on his own songwriting seem to become more unfettered from minute to minute – as does the pleasure of listening to him. Guest musicians Michael Samos and Mike Risberg have added additional guitars, pedal steel and keyboards to the trio, making Elder’s sound more voluminous than ever, and the influences found here range from 70s prog dinosaurs such as Yes, King Crimson or Pink Floyd to their kindred spirits in the European psychedelic and space rock scenes. And it is of course a cliché, but Elder bring their own organism to life from all these influences. Elder already strike out on their chosen path on the album opener “Sanctuary”. What begins as a trademark stoner song turns on its own axis several times at minute four, morphing into lyrical polyphonic pickings and using a Mellotron to sweet-talk its way to an unfathomable and brutal finale. “The Falling Veil” moves between Thin Lizzy with palpitations and undulating progressive riffs. Those who think of Kyuss during “Staving off Truth” won’t be able to hold that thought the entire 11 minutes of the song. And as hymn-like as the riffs can be, the band never settles down to one part for longer than two minutes. But at the same time, the songs never lose their coherence, because all parts are logically woven into one another. And it could be that “Sonntag”, a detour into the Krautrock motorik functions of Neu!, most clearly shows the limitless cosmic ambitions of Elder. Elder will be taking Reflections of a Floating World live to European fans in July and August 2017, followed by a USA tour in the fall. The East Coast trio will be a quartet for the first time ever on these tours with the addition of Mike Risberg on second guitar and keyboards. Anybody who has already seen Elder live know that they shouldn’t miss the opportunity to see them on this tour! It’s time to get euphoric. With Elder’s fourth full-length album, an epic piece of rock music will be released unto the world. And we think that’s a reason to celebrate...

  10. /// MELVINS | HOUDINI, STONER WITCH, AND STAG REISSUES Music Industry, 1993: everyone is looking to sign the “next” Nirvana. Atlantic Records found exactly the band they were looking for in the Melvins. Birthed in the Pacific Northwest gloom of Aberdeen that would spawn grunge music and culture, the Melvins were writing songs that were clearly inspired by the right stuff and written for the right people… and they had Nirvana’s unequivocal stamp of approval, which meant everything in the early 90’s. For the next four years after their signing, the Melvins would deliver three stellar, influential albums that were criminally only moderately appreciated at the time. In the past 23 years, they’ve continued onwards with Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, and a revolving cast of bassists at the helm, cementing themselves as one of the most important American rock bands of all time. Houdini, Stoner Witch, and Stag have all been out of print on vinyl for over two decades and original copies can command into the three figures in back alley craps games. Third Man Records is proud to reintroduce these titles to the hungry vinyl-buying public, all remastered from original analog tapes, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and given the deluxe, gatefold jacket treatment. Official Release Date: June 24, 2016. ORDER BLACK LP BUNDLE HERE: http://thirdmanstore.com/bands/melvins/melvins-reissue-bundle ORDER INDIVIDUAL BLACK LPs HERE: http://thirdmanstore.com/bands/melvins Houdini - $20 - LP - Black 180g Stoner Witch - $20 - LP - Black 180g Stag - $25 - 2xLP - Black 180g All three for $58. *** PLEASE NOTE: Plans for the release of the limited edition color vinyl versions will be announced at a later date. *** MELVINS - HOUDINI TMR-295 Signed to Atlantic Records in the hubbub after Nirvana’s Nevermind exploded, the Melvins’ fifth album Houdini was a conscious attempt by the band to make a record that wouldn’t alienate their fans but that the band members themselves would also enjoy. Their best-selling release by a country-mile, this album crested at number 29 on on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Houdini would be most folks introduction to the band and songs like “Honeybucket” received MTV airplay. first time on vinyl since 1993 six tracks produced by Kurt Cobain cover art by legendary artist Frank Kozik includes the vinyl-only bonus track “Rocket Reducer No. 62 (Rama Lama Fa Fa Fa)” originally by the MC5 LIMITED EDITION COLOR ON HOUDINI YELLOW. STONER WITCH TMR-296 The stellar seventh studio album by the Melvins is one of the most cohesive and beloved in the band’s catalog. With fan favorites like “Revolve” and “Queen” balanced with the impressive sound explorations of “Lividity” and “Shevil” and the result is one of the most praised albums of the band’s 30+ year career. first time on vinyl since 1994 LIMITED EDITION COLOR ON STONER WITCH DARK PURPLE. STAG TMR-297 The final album in the Melvins major label span, Stag finds the band fully spreading their wings (and budget) to create what is arguably their most wide-ranging and diverse album among the nearly two-dozen full-length studio albums the band has released since 1987. first time on vinyl since 1996 album now comfortably spans two discs while original release was crammed onto single disc portions of the album recorded at the legendary Sound City studios LIMITED EDITION COLOR ON RED AND AQUA SWIRL. (Mentioned in TMR thread, but I felt this deserved it's own thread as many people will be stoked on these since they have been OOP for quite some time.)

Fister "IV" LP preorders are up now! http://crownandthroneltd.bigcartel.com/product/fister-iv-12 "St. Louis, MO's doom merchants Fister return with their most ambitious recording yet with a new 44 minute song entitled simply "IV". "IV" has Fister at it's best; their full lengths Violence and Gemini and splits with Everything Went Black and Primitive Man only prepared them for this moment. Within this 3/4ths of an hour, Fister lay down the definition of "heavy riff", and like their brethren of the long doom song, Fister keeps the listener enthralled with every minute of agonizing slowness. This is Fister. This is CT008. This is "IV". Play loud. Play heavy. Play slow. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Gabe Usery at Encapsulated Studios. Artwork by Aaron DC Edge. Includes digital download." Order HERE Wholesale inquiries email: armageddonshop[at]gmail.com Artist: ELDER Title: Lore Formats: 2LP w/download / CD Label: Armageddon Shop Catalog number: AS-009 Street Date: February 27th, 2015 Elder is a heavy psych band from Boston, USA. Founded by long-time friends Nicholas DiSalvo, Jack Donovan and Matt Couto, the group spent years plodding in Sabbathian territory, releasing their self-titled debut 2007, followed by "Dead Roots Stirring" in 2011. They also released a two song EP "Spires Burn / Release" in 2012 showing musical growth in a more refined vision of the band's sound. With "Dead Roots Stirring" and "Spires Burn" Elder took a surprising turn away from their more traditional stoner rock roots, incorporating uplifting melodies and progressive song structures into their lengthy epics. The release of 2011's "Dead Roots Stirring" sent ripples through the underground and established the band as one of the genre's most interesting and experimental. Between lengthy hiatuses where DiSalvo resided in Germany, Elder continued writing, taking in inspiration from travels and experiences in non-musical territory. 2012 saw the release of Spires Burn/Release EP, the next chapter in the group's progressing mindstate. In the following years Elder toured the U.S. and Europe several times, culminating in the release of their live album Live at Roadburn 2013 from the Dutch festival's 18th edition. Their third full length "Lore" is due out in early 2015 and will be a watershed moment in the band's history. Joining the interplay of heaviness and melody which has become the hallmark Elder sound are a host of new meanderings through uncharted kosmische territory; krautrock, prog as well as classic heavy rock and doom can all be heard unfolding throughout the record's five songs. By giving equal credence to riffs and atmosphere, Lore bypasses genre constraints, the group's penchant for progressive songwriting and melody shining more brightly than ever. Nick DiSalvo states that Colour Haze and Dungen are "bands that have really influenced the methodology or the philosophy behind the new direction". While Elder's sound is now much more evolved and varied, it is still consistently based around rock and metal, originally influenced by such heavy landmark bands as Black Sabbath, Sleep and Electric Wizard.

  23. Unquestionably one of 2014’s finest doom releases, Blood Farmers‘ long awaited studio return, Headless Eyes, is set to be released tomorrow on vinyl through PATAC Records. Their sophomore outing and first with drummer Tad Leger (ex-Toxic) alongside bassist/vocalist Eli Brown and guitarist Dave Szulkin (also of The Disease Concept), it’s an unpretentious slab of classic-minded horror doom, rife with memorable tracks like its sprawling 10-minute title cut and “Gut Shot,” but immersive, eerily psychedelic and spiraling continually downward. Since Headless Eyes was 19 years in following-up Blood Farmers‘ self-titled debut, your guess is as good as mine when they might get around to putting out a third one, so all the more reason to note the occasion of the LP coming out. If you haven’t heard it yet — and I’m sure you have, because you’re up on it like that. Dig in: ORDER THE VINYL: http://www.patacrecords.com/distro/Blood-Farmers-Headless-Eyes-LP Blood Farmers ‘Headless Eyes’ will be hitting stores worldwide 12/09/2014! Be sure to pick up the doom metal masterpiece on vinyl! 150 on Red Vinyl -SOLD OUT- 450 on Black Vinyl “Who would have thought that the within doom circles well appreciated band Blood Farmers would ever release a follow-up to their ‘Blood Farmers’ debut? Okay, the band had reunited in 2007 and did play live quite frequently, but unfortunately bass player Dr. Phibes passed away in 2010. Vocalist Eli Brown took over bass duty and the band continued with in 2009 on drums Tad Leger. Tad Leger, you say? Yes, the tad Leger of Toxik’s two albums fame. First technical thrash and now doom, that is a different ballpark entirely. In 2011 Blood Farmers even played at the renowned Roadburn festival. But at the time I didn’t expect any new studio work. Pleasantly surprised I was that nineteen years after their debut there is now a follow-up in the guise of ‘Headless Eyes’ in front of me. But will the band be able to achieve the same level as before? Well, I shouldn’t have worried for a second. What a scorcher of an album ‘Headless Eyes’ turned out to be. Still traditional doom in the vein of Saint Vitus and Internal Void with quite a bit of stoner. Six absolute top songs is what this album contains, be it the title song or the instrumental ‘Night Of the Sorcerers’ which clocks in at over ten minutes or closing cover song ‘The Road Leads To Nowhere’ which is taken from 1972 horror film ‘The Last House On The Left’. All doom diamonds of the purest form. ‘Headless Eyes’ is up to now the doom album of the year for me and I am of the opinion that this album can become a true genre classic. I am as happy as a kid in a sweetshop with the return of Blood Farmers in recorded form.”Limited to 600 copies. 150 copies on opaque red vinyl, 450 copies on black vinyl. All copies include a double-sided ‘grindhouse’ insert and 5?x5? sticker of the cover art. Originally formed in 1989, BLOOD FARMERS combine the atmosphere of ’70s horror with heavy doses of psychedelia and doom in the tradition of BLACK SABBATH and SAINT VITUS. The band’s 1995 debut on the legendary Hellhound Records has been cited as an influential underground classic by such bands as ELECTRIC WIZARD and CHURCH OF MISERY. BLOOD FARMERS‘ current lineup includes Dave Szulkin (guitar), Eli Brown (vocals) and Tad Leger (drums; ex-TOXIK). “Headless Eyes” track listing: 01. Gut Shot (6:17) 02. Headless Eyes (10:49) 03. The Creeper (4:51) 04. Thousand-Yard Stare (6:34) 05. Night Of The Sorcerers (10:15) 06.
