  3. Tarentel "From Bone To Satellite" CATALOG NUMBER: trr023RELEASE DATE: 03-06-2016 DELUXE EXPANDED VINYL EDITION PRE-ORDER WILL SHIP ON OR AROUND JUNE 1, 2016! CD FORMAT IS THE ORIGINAL 1999 EDITION - NO BONUS TRACKS OR REMASTER ON CD! When Tarentel’s debut album was released in December 1999, Temporary Residence was still a fledgling record label operated by a 21 year-old kid on a dingy carpeted corner of a sinking spare bedroom that was deemed too unsafe to live. The surprise success of From Bone To Satellite – the vinyl sold out in a matter of weeks, and the CD necessitated multiple represses – was both a blessing and a curse for the cash-strapped bedroom imprint struggling to keep on the lights and heat. With profit margins being razor-thin for vinyl, the record was forced to go out-of-print indefinitely. In honor of the 20th anniversary of Temporary Residence Ltd., we are elated to finally make this integral part of the label’s history available on vinyl for the first time since 1999. Not content to merely repress the original, we have unearthed a treasure trove of rare and unreleased material from that inspired early era of Tarentel. Restored and remastered from the original master tapes, From Bone To Satellite – Deluxe Expanded Edition includes the 7-track sequence that was exclusive to the original vinyl pressing, plus an additional 6 digital bonus tracks – a total of nearly 3 hours of music! This extremely special expanded vinyl edition is packaged in a heavyweight, old-style tip-on gatefold jacket with high-gloss full-color inner sleeves featuring the original restored and expanded photography of Dianne Jones. The pressing is 100% audiophile-quality virgin vinyl, manufactured in the United States. 4. AE Paterra (the drummer of Zombi) is teaming up with Paul Lawler, who released the fantastic Opus last year. The result sounds fantastic so far. Not unlike Zombi, but with many more layers in the composition. There's a track streaming over at Noisey: http://noisey.vice.com/blog/contact-is-the-sci-fi-music-project-created-by-two-artists-who-have-never-met The release date is set for October 28th through Temporary Residence. The interview at the above link states that it's being released on glow-in-the-dark vinyl, so I'm guessing that will be the limited TR variant. Really stoked for this! From the article:
  5. Release Date 4/28/15 (pre-orders ship 4/14): http://shop.temporaryresidence.com/trr253 Three color variants available!
  6. THIS IS A PRE-ORDER! ALL ITEMS WILL SHIP ON OR AROUND APRIL 14, 2015! Paul de Jong is best known as the cofounder, cellist and resident found sound savant of the beloved, defunct collage-pop duo, the Books. Five years after that band delivered their final album, The Way Out, to much acclaim, de Jong delivers his first solo album. IF sets the Books' early albums (particularly The Lemon of Pink) as a starting point, and elevates that beguiling sense of wonder and amazement to genuinely transcendent new heights. De Jong's ability to find the musical in the mundane has always been uncanny — it is part of what made the Books so magical — and that gift is what makes IF such a marvelous curiosity, and such a true pleasure to hear. In de Jong’s world, everything around him is a potential instrument: his mind-bogglingly vast collection of forgotten private press regional folk records, spoken-word oddities of indeterminate origin unearthed in discarded thrift store piles, and various everyday household utensils that we tend to take for granted. One man’s trash is de Jong’s tool to craft yet another treasure. Featuring a handful of friends and family as musical guests, IF steers a course from joyously eccentric folk-pop to humorously inside-out jazz, resulting in a refreshing piece of outsider art with a replay value that's off the charts. PLEASE NOTE: The LIMITED SPECIAL EDITION variant is CLASSIC BLACK (edition of 200). The colored vinyl edition is TRANSPARENT AMBER. http://shop.temporaryresidence.com/trr249

  8. Though we aren't too far away from the release of Spiderland in deluxe format, Britt Walford of Slint has another release on deck in the form of Watter. The new project, who expects to release their debut LP This World on May 27th, also features Grails member Zak Riles and marks the first new project for Walford in nearly 20 years. 9. The box set is extraordinary and the fake news articles are brilliant, but I prefer the convenience of the 1xLP edition. Everything is in NM condition. This has the repressed 7" with the correct songs, and I'll throw in the mispressed 7" too. $90 ppd take it or leave it, let me know if you are interested.
  10. Hauschka - Abandoned City THIS IS A PRE-ORDER! ITEMS WILL SHIP ON OR AROUND MARCH 7, 2014! Hauschka is a composer, songwriter and experimental musician who has brought an exciting new perspective to the prepared piano - a technique for getting new sounds from the acoustic keyboard by resting pieces of paper or drumsticks on the strings of the instrument. Abandoned City was recorded in Hauschka's home studio in a burst of creative energy following the birth of his first son. The songs were recorded using nine microphones. Six recorded the sounds coming from the piano strings through an analogue console feeding directly into a computer to preserve the instrument's full, warm sound. Three others passed the tones through a mixer full of effects - delay, distortion, echo - that can be triggered separately or used simultaneously. Hauschka creates the music and the arrangements as he goes, trusting the music to take him in the proper direction. “Most of the songs were played on one piano; I was mixing as I played. If I needed more piano, I overdubbed with another twiddling of effects. All the sounds - harp, balafon, Melodica, drums - are produced by the keyboard,” Hauschka explains. The compositions on Abandoned City awaken the loneliness and unattainable romance of timeless, unfamiliar places, with cinematic melodies full of resonant overtones, bright cheerful keyboard patterns and dark percussive touches. The tracks all bear the names of actual vacant cities. Hauschka chose Abandoned City as the title of the album to convey the sense of hope and sadness that consumes him when he's sitting alone at the keyboard. “I was interested in finding a metaphor for the inner tension I feel when I'm composing music, a state of mind where I'm lonely and happy at the same time,” Hauschka professes. “When I saw photos of abandoned cities, I felt it was perfect. People once lived there, but they left in a rush and now nature has taken over in a beautiful way, things are growing up from the sidewalk and the seasons are changing colors. The music is dark, but in a quiet, uplifting way. The piano is singing the melody but, because of the effects, you can't hear it directly. It's like the sound of a choir under the earth, something you feel without realizing it.” VINYL FORMAT INCLUDES FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD COUPON + 3 BONUS TRACKS TRACK LISTING 1. Elizabeth Bay 2. Pripyat 3. Thames Town 4. Who Lived Here? 5. Agdam 6. Sanzhi Pod City 7. Craco 8. Barkersville 9. Stromness 12$ + shipping at Temporary Residence : http://shop.temporaryresidence.com/trr232 Recommended if you're into more piano driven instrumental or ambient music.
