It's nowhere near Riot Fest, but my favorite place to go is Record Breakers (at Reggies Rock Club). It's nothing special or amazing, but they always tend to have a pretty diverse selection there. If anybody finds a good hotel deal for the weekend, please post it and I will do the same. Right now my "safety" room is at the Renaissance Chicago O'Hare Suites Hotel for $109 per night with free cancellation. I am going to keep looking for a room downtown, but this place is extremely close to the Cumberland parking/CTA blueline stop that I like to use and the price is OK. Gotcha, the previous mentioned motels that I brought up are in a good area, but kind of close to a sketchy area as well. Figured I'd throw it out there as an option. I actually went through Airbnb for Chicago this year...I've done it once before for Austin and it worked out really great. This year we booked an apartment in Chicago for the four of us and it ended up costing about $50/night per person which from what I experienced last year is cheaper than the hotels. Plus it's got a rooftop grill, full kitchen, etc so we figured it would help us out big time considering we will be there for 5 days. Decided against flying this year, instead rented a super gas-friendly car to drive from Long Island to Chicago. 13 sweet ass hours...
