Ok, this album is absolutely beautiful and it needs to be on vinyl  <--- (How do I scream this in text?)

Ludvig Cimbrelius (aka PURL)  under the ILLUVIA moniker  http://eternell.net/album/illuvia

Listen, love it, send him a message. There needs to be a Kickstarter or something, this album is too good. Toooooo goooood!

Thoughts?

Will check that out and shoot him some encouragement to get it pressed, regardless of how I feel about it.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeaaaah.... immediately pulled the trigger. TLO puts out some of THE best ambient music I've ever heard and I'm kicking myself for missing some of their earlier releases. Fuck me I did NOT expect to spend that this morning.

...me too,  but  I must say I'm pretty happy with the amount of brilliant music they've given in the past year or so.  Really taking a hit but I just can't miss this release, or anything they release for that matter.

P.S.:  It's really expensive, and I'll be sick to my stomach if they release them individually after the box set is done.

I spoke to TLO and he told me that very limited quantities of the 3 LPs will be available at 20 pounds a piece at some point. If you take into account international shipping on top of all 3, it isn't a ridiculous amount more for the box-set where you get those exclusive CDs and the numbered/signed booklet and box to house them in. I stuck with my purchase.

The new Hammock album 'Mysterium' and Slow Meadow S/T have been absolutely wrecking me lately... They're both more on the modern classical side of ambient. Stunningly beautiful. Do yourself a favor and check 'em out:

https://slowmeadow.bandcamp.com/album/slow-meadow (needs a vinyl pressing!)

http://shop.hammockmusic.com (several different variants available!)

Martin Glass - The Pacific Visions of Martin Glass

Quote

We're proud to present the first set of recordings from Martin Glass. Exiled in Taiwan working on a deal that never gets done, an American businessman falls under the hypnotic spell of the Pacific. His is an Asiatisch fever dream - seaside lovers, translucent virtual vocalists, glass-y '80s synthesisers and multinational muzak. It's an ode to Pacific bubble decadence, beamed from a lilo or a roof garden (or both)... all fizzing arpeggios, melancholy marimba symphonies and sunken yacht karaoke.

In terms of sonic references: forgotten '70s nippon pop, Sakomoto + Glass sweeping neo-classicism, Haruomi Hosono driftwood, Susumu Yokota floral pretty-ness... it's all there somewhere...?

Video for 'Sound & Image': youtu.be/eiRw6spfqFQ

'Pacific Visions' is a joint release with our friends Dramatic Records.

This thing is awesome. Getting massive early-Ryuichi Sakamoto vibes. Vinyl limited to 200 copies.

Yasuaki Shimizu - Music For Commercials (Remastered) out today.

Quote

Re-mastered version

Originally issued by Crammed in 1987, this is one of the most sought-after releases in our legendary Made To Measure series. Known for his numerous albums, soundtracks, and collaborations with an impossibly broad array of artists (from Ryuichi Sakamoto and DJ Towa Tei to Van Dyke Parks, Björk, Manu Dibango and Elvin Jones), composer, saxophonist and producer Yasuaki Shimizu also released several electronic music productions during the '80s, which are currently generating a lot of interest (a.o. his recently reissued Mariah project).

"Music For Commercials" is a brilliant and inventive collection of short pieces, initially conceived as soundtracks for Japanese TV commercials (and bearing sweet titles such as “Seiko”, “Sharp”, “Honda” etc). These twenty-three tracks (each clocking in at two minutes or less, except one longer piece composed for a computer-animation short) abound with hit-and-run sound collages, twittering computers, and energetic ricocheting between myriad styles of music. This album has achieved near-mythical status in the last few years, which have seen artists such as Oneohtrix Point Never sing its praise.

New Music - la science des reves (Ambient/Instrumental/Experimental)

Orlando-based artist continues to delve further into soundscapes and melancholic tones. Abandoning guitar for the majority of the record, mainly using piano, organ, and synths to form a collection of cognate thoughts.

"Warming rituals carried out through melancholy ambient swaths. Piano, organ, and acoustics all fade into each other under dense layers of synthesizer. Ultimate escapism."
