I personally really enjoyed it, I thought the lyrics were not literal in a negative way but were literal in a positive way. It showed that songs can paint a vivid picture in the listeners head and be a showcase of songwriting skill. Although I could agree that it sounds the same throughout the album and their past discography, I don't really mind since they do a good job on it. Getting to spin this album on vinyl made me like it even more, getting to hear the high/low ends and what not. Since you're a new listener though, you should check out some of their 7"s - a few I think are note-worthy: Year Of The Rabbit On Time Spent Waiting Malegoat Split Those 3 releases really made me like the band.
