I've said it before and I'll say it again. Moose Blood's tracks on their split with Departures are by far their best work. Those songs are fantastic. Just had my first chance to listen to this album, and i've not really listened to the singles that have been released over the past few weeks. Have to say this is absolutely spot on for me. They've kept the emo-ness but it isn't a carbon-copy of the EP/singles. Maybe I just relate to them at the moment but I really really like this record. Also the re-recordings are kinda pointless but the sound has changed. I think they overplay the band/movie/book references by a mile, but the line about coming over and watching American Beauty...that was like a kick in the fucking stomach.
