Nirvana - Feels Like The First Time (Broadcasts 1992-1993)

Recommended Posts

From Modern Vinyl (http://modern-vinyl.com/2014/07/04/nirvanas-92-93-performances-reissued/):

Several live cuts and broadcasts from Nirvana’s 1992 and 1993 history are being repressed in the vinyl set Feels Like The First Time. The set, which features a Seattle concert, along with a performance in Melbourne and a Saturday Night Live broadcast, was pressed in 2012, but is now available again through Let Them Eat Vinyl. It looks like the artwork will be slightly different, as well.

1. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter
2. Drain You
3. Breed
4. Serve The Servants

Let Them Eat Vinyl is a real puzzler. Most of their releases are split between blatant classic/mainstream rock bootlegs like this (and Bruce Springsteen Live at the Main Point) and what appear to be above-board reissues of notable early punk and new wave records. Also, they put out 2 Bring Me the Horizon records in the UK?!? and there are purchase links on their catalog page, where you can see the crazy weird variety that I'm talking about. Their website also has an address, phone number, all the things a typical bootleg operation doesn't have (other than vinyl-digital, but they're another curious exception, and there's a layer of plausible deniability as they're just a store who happens have inside info on these mysterious bootlegs that come from who knows where). Seems pretty ballsy to announce that you're planning on putting out grey-market Dylan, Cash and Zappa records rather than simply letting them show up in shady record stores and online shops one day.

Let Them Eat Vinyl don't actually say on their website what colour it is or even how many there are:

http://www.letthemeatvinyl.com/index.html

http://www.plastichead.com/catalogue.asp?ex=fitem&verb=F&target=LETV050LP

LTEV and Plastic Head seem to be the same thing. LTEV's contact details are @Plastic Head.

Their Facebook page says blue and has pictures:

https://www.facebook.com/letthemeatvinyl

Only one third party site seem to be giving more detail on numbers and they say 1000:

http://www.whatrecords.co.uk/items/61604.htm

It's possible that the white copies are the previous pressing. The Discogs entry is no help:

http://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-Feels-Like-The-First-Time-Broadcasts-1992-1993/release/3721006

Here's somewhere else to get it on white:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NIRVANA-Feels-Like-the-First-Time-2LP-180g-WHITE-Vinyl-500-IN-STOCK-/121389479073?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1c436074a1#shpCntId

Here are places where it's sold out, which points towards white being the previous pressing especially as Insound say 2012:

http://www.insound.com/Feels-Like-The-First-Time-Broadcasts-1992-1993-Vinyl-2xLP-Nirvana/P/INS107049/

Finally, does it seem a little odd that the person who's telling us about the white copy registered 2 days ago and has 2 posts, both of which are identical? Hello vinylguy77 :) There's much more to the site than white Nirvana records, and if it's a first press with fewer copies AND cheaper in the USA, there may be many people saying thanks.

Thanks for the detective work on this!
