radiatorhums
Woah! I wonder if that's a repress/remaster of something old or a live album or what?! It seems a little too soon for them to be releasing another studio album.

Derek™
Probably won't bite if it's a live album, but this totally has my interest. Requiescat
iron666monkey
Probably won't bite if it's a live album, but this totally has my interest. Agreed, especially since their drummer is always a hair behind live. Anything else I'll likely open my wallet for.

tomfoolery
Everybody should start with Austrailasia I concur, closely followed by the fire in our throats and the self titled ep. Though forever becoming (did i get the name right?) Is really good too.
Derek™
Agreed, especially since their drummer is always a hair behind live. Having caught them firsthand about a month ago - which was a first for me - I am inclined to completely agree with you. Their drumming has never been mind-blowing to begin with, but watching their drummer play with the rest of the band was periodically painful. Everybody should start with Austrailasia Interesting pick. I actually think Australasia is among their weaker releases; I probably wouldn't be a fan of the band if that was my first stepping stone. sharkticon
In that case, can we all agree to avoid City of Echoes?
Derek™
It's all about WWACTN. For those instantly accessible riffs and melodies, I think this is a very solid choice.

radiatorhums
In that case, can we all agree to avoid City of Echoes? I would personally say avoid What We All Come to Need. City of Echoes is gold in comparison. mjglor
Derek™
I must be doing Pelican all wrong – in no particular order, my top 3 picks are WWACTN, City, and Fire In Our Throats.
Youinreverse
Man, City of Echoes was the album that got me into Pelican. I didn't know so many people didn't like it. mjglor
fitterhappier
Pelican is awesome because there really isn't a single album that is considered their best. nothingnatural
Derek™
Man, City of Echoes was the album that got me into Pelican. I didn't know so many people didn't like it. You mean the one guy (with great tastes, nonetheless) who dislikes it, and the two of us who'd argue it's great?
Neanderthal
Australasia is their best imo. The title track is like one of my favorite songs of all time.
planetrakis
Fire, Australasia, end. They could be grand, but the drumming is stale imo. Could you imagine say a Herb Alexander with this outfit, wow. Korgull Of Morgoth
davepriz
pelican could possibly be my favorite band if the drummer was better. the drum fills on australasia are painful at times. either way, very excited as to what this could be!
radiatorhums
Australasia is their best imo. The title track is like one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm with you. Self titled is my favorite, but Australasia is very close second for me. Some of the stuff on S/T reminds me of Jesu, which I absolutely love. Overall though, Pelican has delivered on almost everything they've put out.
