derby625 Posted July 30, 2014 Share Posted July 30, 2014 I'd like some input on this one (and any other fun discussions) I have an older copy of Beastie Boys' Ill Communication which at some point the jacket got wet and then left for a while. It had some organics/mold/mildew which I carefully cleaned using Lysol wipes to no avail It's still stinky. I don't even want it with my other tunes In the past I had tossed the jackets and kept the vinyl in this situation (they were dollar bin records where getting a second copy was easy) but this one isn't as easy to replace. niblips Posted July 30, 2014 Share Posted July 30, 2014 If the jacket is completely dry and all the mold has been removed try to air it out. Or put a bounce dryer sheet inside it (i've never tried this) The problem with mold is it is hard to get out of the inside of the jacket. This is what I was thinking. I've cleaned it no less than thrice. The mold has permeated into the cardstock and I think it's a lost cause. charkoustic Posted July 30, 2014 Share Posted July 30, 2014 If you're going to toss it anyway, maybe cut the top / bottom edges with a razor, flip it around (to now exposure the inside) and bake in the sun for awhile?
