captinii
As any Neil Young collector understands, grabbing a fantastic copy of Time Fades Away is a must! Over the weekend I finally found mine and was over excited and ready to listen. The jacket, the lyric sheet and the vinyl are all in amazing shape, so I knew this was a good copy. Before I put the album on I glanced at the track listing to see the songs that were included and then put it on. It was quite quickly I realized even though I had the sleeve, lyric sheet and correct label on the vinyl that I wasnt listening to Time Fades Away. Soon after I realized what I was listening to was Side 2 of Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland. I listened all the way through to see if there were any other oddities and then flipped it over to give the other side a listen. The other side was Side 3 of Electric Ladyland. Immediately, I researched to see if this was common and came up with nothing. I also found it strange that even for a misprint it was weird that it was sides 2 and 3 not 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 or Electric Ladyland. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Could I have stumbled on a big time rarity? Any insight would be wonderful! Thanks a lot!

markaj311
On a serious note, I love Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix, I have no idea if what you found is rare. However, on many records Pt. 1 and Pt. 4 will be on one, and Pt. 2 and 3 on the other. So that is nothing rare at all.
Satan
Hmmm. Maybe to a Hendrix collector it could be desired... Who knows? Certainly not I.

Bladewillisisdead
I bought a copy of Time Fades Away and left it my dad's house. I should probably look for that next time I visit. Neil Young fucking owns.
albert
That exact same thing happens on all of my nine inch nails records. Pretty common place actually.

DigitalZombie
Electric Lady Land was one of those 2LPs marketed towards stacking players, so disc one was side 1 & 4, and disc two was side 2 & 3. At least that's how my early 70's reissue is. Both on Reprise getting stamped around the same time, chances are this is a weird factory mispress. Doubt it's worth anything though. I'd try to get your money back.
unknown pleasures
A misprinted Time Fades Away is priceless. Unfortunately, what you actually have a misprinted Electric Ladyland. It's utterly worthless. Metal Mike, THE_James_Champ, timsimmons and 1 other

bobfrombob
It probably is very rare. Since the record has been out for over 40 years, anybody who had this defect would have noticed long ago and and gotten rid of it. Just because it's rare doesn't mean it has any value. stl_ben

captinii
Yeah - I'm really just trying to figure out if there's any sort of value for it? It's kinda cool to have. Does anyone know anywhere else that might be helpful?
TheGhostOfRandySavage
I don't know of any place that would be more helpful. I will say, I'd guess it's actually worth less than a normal copy of Time Fades Away...Nobody wants half of that album and half of Electric Lady Land, even if the label says Time Fades Away. skadaddy
Or you could buy a copy off Discogs for $9.50 + shipping. Put the correct record in your "fantastic copy" cover and call it a day. http://www.discogs.com/marketplace?master_id=38638¤cy=USD NotoriousTIMP and captinii
hezagenius
Probably rare Probably not worth much, except maybe to a die hard collector of Young or Hendrix It'd be cool if there was some weird story behind it like Neil thought Electric Ladyland was the best album of all time and had one copy pressed like that as some sort of homage to Jimi and decided to let fate decide which person got it. captinii
Also forgot to mention.... On the inner sleeves there is a strange note oddly addressed to Jimmie which is likely a coincidence. But it goes on to say "Jimmie sleep on the back porch. Toms in your room. Or sleep in Irene's -Dad"
NotoriousTIMP
That exact same thing happens on all of my nine inch nails records. Pretty common place actually. Which records of NIN do you have that are mispressed like this? The only one I know of is the UK press of The Downward Spiral and it has PJ Harvey on the 4th side
