plasma36
Two songs from each band, assuming it'll be a 7", coming out April 7th. This split is gonna be killer and y'all who aren't up on these bands are gonna change that real soon. Del Paxton is 90s emo with a little math and Gulfer is math with a little 90s emo, so if you've been a fan of what Topshelf puts out then I have no doubt you'll like at least one of the bands here. The Saint
Just grabbed a clear with purple smoke. Was surprised to see that USPS First Class/Priority was only $3. But anyway, I'm so stoked that Topshelf signed Del Paxton. They deserve it. Worst. Summer. Ever is so good.
buddha4281
went for 100. big surprise there. if my track record with these guys is anything, i will probably end up owning multiple copies of this. these songs are great, as are the other 2 from this recording session. everyone will dig for sure. plasma36
Updated OP with pressing info. Torn between the /100 and the /150 because if the "purple smoke" is the GZ haze it'll sound like shit. I'll ask Topshelf who's pressing this and post in here when I get a reply. chriswamsley
purple smoke is like clear w/ whispy shit doesn't really affect sound kind of like a splatter
plasma36
purple smoke is like clean w/ whispy shit doesn't really affect sound kind of like a splatter Yeah but what they call "smoke" could be what GZ calls "haze." chriswamsley
ie dikembe broad shoulders 1st press. hotelier 1st press, pianos become the teeth keep you first press, also doesn't topshelf use pirate press?

Link to one of the DP songs: http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=3718789&utm_content=bufferd0093&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer Topshelf correctly identified one of the Braid No Coast variants as blue with black haze and they have properly named other variants "color with color smoke". I think you should be pretty safe to assume this is as Chris described, clear with purple whisps. topshelfsquad
corey.
also doesn't topshelf use pirate press? I believe so. And I think they'd know how to identify a haze like mentioned above haha, they do a lot "clear w/ smoke" variants and they are what people are describing as whispy. Examples of Topshelf's smoke variants: clear w/ red smoke clear w/ green smoke
parkinglot
Topshelf doesn't always use pirates press. But I've been broke and haven't ordered anything in a while, so maybe things changed. I think Gotta Groove did some of their 2014 releases.

Very common for labels to switch up plants for some projects depending on turnaround time and what not. topshelfsquad
plasma36
They'll use Pirate's or Gotta Groove depending on whatever variables. For instance the latest Prawn, Braid, and Jazz June albums were all pressed at Pirate's but the Prawn 7" and My Fictions album were both pressed at GG. If you guys are confident that it won't be GZ haze shit I'll grab that one. Worst case scenario is I sell that copy and get a different one. tsr00seth
Hey everyone, thanks so much for the support so far on this release! The record is being pressed at gotta groove and the "smoke" will be similar to the whispy style that has been mentioned. We've used practically every plant out there depending on cost/color and variant options/turn time and location we'll need a lot of the records to be. However, we've definitely used gotta groove for at least half of our releases. The smoke effect doesn't have a negative impact on the sound of the record. When we've done a haze record with pirates we've done our best to make it clear that it is a haze since pirates specifically called it that. plasma36 and topshelfsquad
Deadformat401
More curious about the gulfer songs. "Trim it short" on their bandcamp is awesome, said to be included on a full length last July. Assuming they're from the same recording sessions, if the songs sound like trim it short Id be all about it
