CD deck headphone output problem / question

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, have an issue with the headphone output on my CD player, but I'm not sure if a simple headphone amp is all that I need...

So, it seems very illogical, but my CD deck has it's own headphone output, but no volume control, which means the level is basically unlistenable (i.e. ridiculously loud). My amplifier doesn't have it's own headphone out, so do I just need to get a headphone amp and run a connection from the CD deck? If so, will it be a phono to phono, or from the CD headphone jack to a line in?

Sorry for the noob-level question, but I wanted to be 100% sure of the solution before I went out and purchased anything.

Thanks!

ps. It is a fairly old (10-15 years) Panasonic CD deck.

Does the schiit have the ability to reduce volume?

I need it to be less than line level as line level is too loud for me.

I have not come across any headphone amps that do this.

what? the volume control knob is a dead giveaway.

I would like to see all these headphone amps without volume controls that you are finding.
